Glad you got this one out there G. Nice review of a historic Thanksgiving MRE. Glad it was somewhat edible so you could have a small taste of the past.
Hi G sorry i missed this. Great review as always. Dont know if that would my ideal Thanksgiving dinner if i was in the service. But im sure i would be happy to get something to feel like home. Looking forward to more.
I think it would be really nice if they had MREs or IMPs specifically made for Thanksgiving, Christmas or other festive times so when the time comes you get a case of that ration so all troops get one.
M Tarkowski yeah it would. Have cranberry jelly, mashed potatoes separate from the turkey, wheat snack bread, white meat turkey breast in gravy, and apple cider and hot cocoa/ coffee. That would be the ultimate Christmas/ thanksgiving mre, if it was possible throw in a berry cobbler of some sort.
Great review G. The Jolly Ranchers we one big melted glob. Considering the age and the signs that it might have been a little hot over the years, overall it was in pretty decent shape. Excellent job. Happy Thanksgiving 🤝
If they were to make this again it should have cranberry jelly, mashed potatoes separate from the turkey, wheat snack bread, white meat turkey breast in gravy, with apple cider and hot cocoa or coffee. That would be the ultimate Christmas/ thanksgiving mre, if it was possible throw in a berry cobbler or spiced pound cake.
That sounds like a really good idea for a new "holiday themed" MRE menu! While this one DOES have potatoes, it really just seemed like it SHOULD have had mashed potatoes. And, like you mention, it really wouldn't be a big deal since they DO have a Mashed Potato side dish and this one didn't really even come with a true side. And, yes, Cider would have probably been a better choice for accessory pack beverage than the tea (I liked both, but it just makes more sense for this one.
I joined the Marine Corps in 99 I do remember this MRE . I do remember staying away from anything that said Stake ,loaf or Patty, Anything that was a stew Was outstanding Anything that was a pasta was usually good The 4 fingers of death,,, And the Denver vomit ya no.
"...with a background of artificialality." I love the adjectives that are only used for vintage MRE reviews, Lol! Great review! You ate more of that cheesy turkey than I would have dared! Now that Tobacco is the real prize in that. I hope you didnt toss it!
Oh man... you should have had a pair of nitrile gloves on when you got to all that sticky mess! Happy Thanksgiving to you... even if it is a month late... ;-) We had ours last month!
Do you collect the bags at these come in? I only ask because after a minute of struggling to get the actual MRE out of the bag I wondered why you just didn't cut it open further. Edit : and as soon as I unpause the video after typing my comment, you explain perfectly what my question was.
You're very welcome zackychan, and thank you for watching! It was a huge struggle to try to get this edited and uploaded for Thanksgiving. Nearly didn't make it!
True statement, on, vintage rations. It is always, luck of the draw, what survives. You did have some damage it would seem. The age given, that is to be expected sir. Some was edible. Typical vintage ration, from my determination. I hope no serious after effects? Average luck for A vintage ration. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Very cool friend. Peace, John.
I'm guessing you definitely are not the first person to have eaten roadkill for Thanksgiving. "Turkey," they say. This is one occasion which has me wondering if vegans are right.
Sounds like you have a lot of experience with melted Jolly Ranchers covering everything in an MRE bag. Of the hundreds of MREs I've opened over the years this was the first time I'd encountered it. Please try to realize that I didn't KNOW the insides were covered with a sticky coating before I opened it. MRE bags do have a peelable seal, so I wanted to try to use that option first (as that's what it's designed for and it's the way I always will try to open a bag). Once I couldn't get the contents out I tried slicing the bag open with a knife. Figured that would make things easier. Didn't know everything would be so sticky that the knife blade would even get stuck in it. Yes, if I knew exactly what was going on in that bag I could have used your method and saved time, but how could I have possibly known? I didn't have the advantage of watching the video to know what was going on inside to realize my "mistake" and "waste of time".
Man, my desire for a new video is even more satiated by having to go BACK & look at how much you’ve done already. Thanks Sir
Thank you for your support and for watching Mike! As you know, I do hope to get back to the regular videos at some point. We shall see...
Accidentally clicked on the other one earlier and was like “short version”?! Nah I want the long version!! ❤️ Gotta love a good gs9 vid
I was thinking of Clark W Griswold as you were opening that MRE up!!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Mmmm, 22yr old Thanksgiving dinner. Just like mom used to make. Hehehe...
Happy Thanksgiving G. Awesome ration and review. Glad you are back. Keep up the great videos.

I miss these classic style reviews

Earliest I have been! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Awesome review! All things considered this thing was in pretty good shape.
Happy Thanksgiving brother from Canada. I thought for a few minutes everything was coated in cranberry sauce which would have been appropriate 😂
Yay a Thanksgiving mre. Nice!
That must be a 4 k camera !! The video looks great wow ! Great review ! They need to use those jolly ranchers as adhesive !!!
C'mon now. I have cheese gravy every Thanksgiving! Nice holiday review. Thank you.
Really great review. Too bad about the heat damage though i know i would have enjoyed this menu. Wish they still made it. Thanks for sharing!
was this actually only available on thanksgiving ONLY or all throughout the year
I like this kind of video.
"...with a background of artificialality." I love the adjectives that are only used for vintage MRE reviews, Lol!

And the funny thing is that I actually edited out about 20 or 30 seconds of additional footage of me struggling with the sticky mess!
I like how they all talk about how bad they might smell or look but they still eat them anyways.
Lol I remember this one . The pound cake I always liked and of course as a teen jolly ranchers were cool to get in your mre. Everyone wanted to trade.
Time-traveling beverage base powder from the future! 😂
Oops!
"Bonito fish extract?" for turkey?
God bless America
Fitting video... thanks!

The date code says 7116, it could be any decade, right?
Hey man how’s it going, Still doing MRE reviews,I see nice.
I’ve never noticed the 9 on the end of your name

Is this the origin story of Stickyfingaz? :D
Good thing the pound cake didn't have nuts, it wouldn't have been edible.
For reference I just turned 5 at the time.
Your voice reminds me of Steve Buscemi. Nice.
Bummer tjis one did not make it
Why would they just throw in the jolly ranchers like that? They don't last forever. They're not twinkies. :)
😂
It's as old as I am ( I'll be 23 in 2020)
That pound cake looks like upholstery foam.
Darn. I wanted to see how the 22 year old tabasco tasted.
hi im here at the recommendation of steve1989 :)
your math is way off u said 1997 32 years old
I'm guessing you definitely are not the first person to have eaten roadkill for Thanksgiving. "Turkey," they say. This is one occasion which has me wondering if vegans are right.
Nobody mentioning that it's 22 not 32? Just saying that it's a difference of 10 years. Otherwise liked the watch!
Oops, I had 22 in my head. Not sure why I said 32?
@@gschultz9 in general I wouldn't point that out, but as it is a questionable food item, I thought it mattered.
Cheers mate, have a nice day! :)
A half hour is ridiculously long.
Luckily it's not required that you watch, and hopefully there are other videos out there that will be more to your taste.
Looks like a generic Salisbury steak or a McRib..
retort pouch ? retorn ? re something mumble mumble

Just sayin'.
