They are wonderful, right? I assume for a bird it is easy to pick up the source and location of a sound. They are wired for sounds.
My bird does this exact same thing, but I realized he does it because he sees his reflection on the screen!

When growing up I always had a parakeet. Oh! How he loved to talk. He would help with homework dishes even my shower before bed. He was only in his cage when we where not home. He knew how to get out. I never had to place my name on my homework, he would fringe it all the way around.
When I started playing several instruments he would whistle along in there tone.
They are truly a wonderful pet.

It's not his "voice". He imitates, so if his owner was someone with a high pitched voice his "voice" would be high pitched as well.
@@Blubableful I'd like to say certain birds have their own spin on what they mimic that can be indicative of their species; cockatiels, cockatoos, ringnecks, and budgies have a certain accent they put on their mimics.
You can hear him mimicking a womans voice in the video too. Pretty interesting.

I think I can never get bored about budgies' chatty voice and the way they wiggle their tail when they talk/tweet.

Parakeets are so adorable. They chitter and talk to themselves, even when they sleep. Such great talkers, they can make almost any sound they hear. It’s amazing. Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful video.

It's mind blowing how intelligent your bird is. Getting the voice right activating the phone, knowing/learning that it lights up the phone. Also by watching you do it everyday.
I had a parakeet that looked almost exactly like yours. Mine never talked, but he was extremely robust and reached 20 years, which is a long life span for these birds.
Kiwi is a very bubbly bird - his talking skills are amazing :)

He also sticks his head into my coffee cup and gets chocolate and milk foam on his face. Then I have to give him a shower in the sink.

Back in the 80’s (& before), phone lines would sometimes get crossed & you’d hear sounds like this of someone talking in a far away voice. Maybe it wasn’t a crossed line at all, but a chatty chirpy 🤔 🦜
We had one that looked just like it back in the 70s. I think it lived 13 years. So cute.

Our budgie was able to imitate the doorbell perfectly. We then ran to the door and after we had asked over the intercom who was there, the budgie sometimes also called the name of a sister who was out and about a lot. We fell for it again and again.

Also, we are getting a lot of comments claiming "parakeet" is incorrect here. While "budgie" or "budgerigar" is more specific, "parakeet" is not incorrect. Budgies are one of many types of parakeet (ringneck, moustache, etc. being other types). Therefore: All budgies are parakeets (and hence parrots), but not all parakeets (or parrots) are budgies. Hope this clarifies things. "Parakeet" is the most common American word used to describe budgies, so if you're from another country, you may find it foreign for a more general word to be used to refer to the budgerigar. @@plan4life In the US, parakeet on its own overwhelmingly refers to the budgie. If it’s another kind of parakeet, people specify. If you tell tell someone in the US that you own a parakeet, there is exactly zero question in the listener’s mind about what kind of bird you’re referring to. I know the US isn’t the rest of the world, though.

I love that birds try to imitate their owners voice. So when you compliment a bird about their voice, you're indirectly complimenting their owner's voice.
