That roof vent was actually designed to create cabin pressure and keep dust out during a rally stage. Most people use it as a nice little cooling vent and I don't blame them.
I owned an wrx ra and an sti ra.. Thay didn't come with a spoiler from stock.. This was an option from factory ... Same as aircon.. Electric windows... Fog lights.. Ect... The gearboxs are emence... Thay top out at roughly 125 mph... Flat out Even the battery is smaller in the ra.. Wish I never sold it
I can just imagine this would make an excellent road car. Needs some light restoration, but its a great base. I would refresh the body and trim, change the wheels back to the STI style from this era and then give the engine some light OEM upgrades from the later models, maybe coilovers and obviously new bushings, but just minor changes.
Hey bro I've got a version 4 sti white and a white 2002 prodrive but I'm super keen to get one of these where can I look? I look mainly on japancarusedsales but I'm very new to the importing part cheers dude or just anyone if they can point me in the right direction ty.
Connor Price I think you were replying to my message which I deleted. But I bought my car in Japan so I didn’t have to buy on an import site. Goo-net exchange is a very popular website we used often to look up cars though. I don’t see anything for Subaru’s much on there though. I seriously don’t know why they are so hard to get ahold of, but I know the people that had one always held onto theirs. I just think people don’t like letting them go so they are hard to find
Connor Price I also do know a guy on Facebook that hooked most of us up that can take care of searching for a car for you, help you find what you want, send you pictures and everything, and can export it. Many of us bought through him and he is very reputable and we never had problems with him. Granted I’m not sure if he’ll take a customer from the states but business is business
I have one of these in New Zealand. For the STi-RA Version = 500 built (50/ month over 10 month run). Awesome vehicle. Most would be raced, turned into GpN rally/ race cars. Mine not raced. Mint 144oookm, and no rust, only options are Lamco gauges and had A/C as factory extra (which still works), has the skid plate also. Otherwise manual wndows and wind-up windows with no ABS brakes, no airbags. The 1st generation "Version" are fantastic. Car to enjoy. This car is a bit rough, but spend the $$ and return to JDM spec and you'll have an appreciating classic.
Old comment but they made just over 800 for the first year sti RA and around 1,100 for the wrx RA. Each year Subaru make as many that people were willing to factory order. There was no limit. After 25-30 years though. Definitely rare cars as not to many kicking around these days.
Nice find. Never imported official to Europe also. I have a regular Gc8 turbo. This one looks ok but rusted so a few weeks of de-rusting parts and it will be a nice stealth street racer. I would suggest changing immediately the belt and adjust valves.
It's my exact car but mines rally blue, the Bilstein suspension is shot from shipping it on a container ship bouncing around for a month. Mine has factory I/C spray, fog lights, roof vent, power windows, Ac don't work either and mine has aluminium body panels actually. Its an 95 WRX STI RA. I have it in Winnipeg. Pretty much identical. What are they worth nowadays I wonder?
This car is Japanese domestic market royalty and actually the very first 92 type ra Impreza were homologated as 555’s as because of the cigarette advertising ban British American Tobacco leaned on Fuji HI to call the car a 555 so in the rally’s 555 cigarettes got free advertising . Not a lot of people know this but you go on the F.I.A website and look at the first Impreza homologation information and the car is a v1 type ra and is called a 555 ..... 🤚🏾💥
Cusco did a Subaru roll cage for the Legacy RS and Impreza RA called a “Dash Dodger” and these were popular in Japanese Gymkhanas which in the uk we call carpark rallying
@@derekdok I think that refers to the 2-door Type R's. The 4-doors are more reasonable. This one although not all that tidy, can be turned around. All the corrosion, though plentiful, isn't deep.
