To anyone watching this and thinking it’s no big deal - nobody (and I do mean absolutely nobody) who has had the misfortune of falling into this stretch of river (The Strid) has ever survived. This jump here, is about as stupidly risky as it gets. He falls in. He dies.
The Strid. Under the surface are 20 foot-deep caverns that suck things in. All people known to have fallen in have perished. This is like jumping from one rooftop onto another, many stories in the air. They might not even ever find the body, even though it's a river, that's how horrifying the cavern below is.

If you’re lucky, you hit your head, are torn to bits, and die relatively quickly. If you’re not so lucky, the river drags you into its underwater caves and tunnels, where you will surely face a more unpleasant end, conscious to the last minute as water fills your lungs and you eventually drown. Your body may not even ever be found. Do you REALLY want to risk it?
