ikr, but I’m in the basement so I could care less, but before my house was over filled as fuck I was always trying to avoid creaking floors and hope the flushing toilet doesn’t wake anyone up
Paul, I know you may not see this, but I wanted you to know that I first found this video when I was about 14 or 15. I'm almost 30 now, with 2 kiddos. I still play, and I performed Chopin in my Spring recital this year. I'm still watching this video. Play on, Paul. Edit: it would be much too large of a feat to find my original comment, but I asked you how long you've been playing and you said something like "since I had a pet dinosaur." Still funny lol
😂 I'm so glad to see this. Only discovered Paul when his elephant concerts hit the internet. (And I still have difficulty wishing well to that woman who threw wrenches in what we all saw as something sacred. Yikes.) The Bartons 🩵 have lived in my heart for years now: it's wonderful to know how Paul's also inspiring musicians across our planet ~ one of the many reasons that his legacy will endure. Have you heard Emilie's recent cover of 'Yellow'? (The 5:00 version she played with her Dad.) 💛 Paz y luz ✨️
(video starts) - It's too quiet... I need to make it louder (remembers what song is playing right now and what will happen in few minutes) (turns down the music)
WONDERFUL! I grew up with Grieg and this is a real treat! I can still remember, more than 70 years ago, my father telling me the story of Pier Gynt and how fascinated I was with the Hall of the Mountain King! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!
This is John Nozum again. I wrote to you around 5 years ago (found my comment on here), and I just happened to play that song tonight (06/23/2019) around 10 PM EDT. I want to thank you for helping me break my illusion that this song couldn't be done with justice on a piano. You broke that misconception in me. While mine has some differences from yours, I got a lot better. You gave me ideas here. I like to be respectful of other good musicians--like YOU! I find it COOL to connect with other good musicians. May God's peace be with you--in the name of Jesus! From one good musician to another, John Nozum From Moundsville, WV (USA)
I've listened to this amazing performance every day for the last month. It actually inspired me to learn it. I couldn't keep watching this over and over without somehow showing my appreciation!

That was really really amazing! I've been playing violin for 5 years, and I didn't encounter this piece yet. But I'm learning it on my own... It's a little bit hard to be honest, but I'm working on making it better as much as I can. Thank you for sharing your play on TH-cam, Sir Hello from Syria

THIS was my favorite, the one I begged him to put on the record player over and over and over and.... Thanks so much for sharing your fine talent and bringing back a fond early memory!
The way this man plays this piece is beautiful. The emotion he puts into his music is amazing. True musician. Absolutely unbelievable. I really appreciate great music like this. Thank you!!:)
This is John Nozum, I am an experienced pianist myself. Years ago, I tried to "do justice" with this song on a piano, but could NOT serve it justice. Yours is probably the best piano rendition of this song that I never heard. This is a HARD song to get sounding right just on a piano. I have had much more luck on a pipe organ. May God's peace be with ya--in the name of JESUS! From John Nozum, a fellow musician
Thank you Paul Barton for your lovely musicality, this is a good piano version of the dramatic orchestral version and I much enjoyed watching you play. Your skill is truly immense.

I immediately jump up to get to work and I don't even think twice about taking a break. 2:14 I'm almost done. The clock is drawing near the deadline. I just need to add the finishing touches... 2:24 oh so now I'm feeling unmotivated! _You have half an hour left, get to it!_ I keep telling myself, and then I start doing my usual routine to get motivation. But now I have five minutes left. Great. 2:32 FINISHED! And right on time as well! ....oh I have more projects to work on in a day. fun.
Wow, I could certainly feel all the emotion you put into this. Very beautiful, expressional! All the passion….wow, it was just wonderful! Good job! wow!
I have never used or thought about this word in my life, I'm not a native speaker. But everything, from you ,to your clothes to your playing to the setting reminds me of the word: Neat!
This is really impressive Paul. I was looking for examples of this piece to share with my children (I'm a huge Grieg fan) and came across your video. Really appreciate all the links - especially to the transcribed piano score. I can't wait to start practicing and hopefully teach it to my kids!
Nice work! I keep getting emails now by TH-cam because someone is claiming rights for Griegs melody. Crazy, hmm? He is dead more than 70 years and I wrote my own interpretation of it for beginners on the piano... What can I do?
You can go to the channel of the person who is claiming it and see if it's true, and if it is yourself you are talking about you shouldn't have claimed it as a version you should have claimed it as a parody because even though he is dead the rights to who owns the song is passed on to someone, even though this isn't a parody that is what you should have called it, hope this helped
The family owns the rights for it. But it can be used for free. What we got here. It miss interpretations of a master piece. Gay drama queen style. But yeah. Well
Absolutely best and most expressive played version of this music piece! Thank you a lot, it's such a pleasure to hear and watch you playing the piano whenever I'd like to.
Excellent dynamics as you build the pace......to create such an amazing finale. Technically well done and requires so much concentration - without sheet music too. great job Paul!
I can't understand why people feel the need to make fun or say such rude things. I thought you played great, I have the same "hunch" and hate looking at myself in pictures or video. I wouldn't exactly call it "posture" as much as "leaning". When pianists are really getting into a piece, especially one with such particular volumes and speeds such as this one, they will lean/hunch over the piano. The sounds one plays push the body around.

Why the TERRIBLE posture😐😭
Tariyah Reed each artist their own posture. it isn't about how you look but about how you feel.
His seat is too tall, he has to lean over to reach the keys - its probably more comfortable for him as well.
+the19888naruto When you're taught to play piano you're also taught to sit in a certain position at all times because it allows for better movement and more of an affect on the audience.
+heheahah123
Well, it *could* affect his health, but I'm not certain.
I wouldn't exactly call it "posture" as much as "leaning". When pianists are really getting into a piece, especially one with such particular volumes and speeds such as this one, they will lean/hunch over the piano. The sounds one plays push the body around.
Wonderful. You played fantastically. Thanks so very much for that.
