Respect for putting up a new mailbox! Last year in 2020 my mailbox was flattened by a car on 2 different occasions and neither of the people bothered to rebuild it or even apologize at the very least. So it does make me happy that some people are actually nice enough to replace them!
Amen this is what happens with lift blocks and spinning tires... Shocked had no wheel hop. Get real springs so it won't happen again to him... I had this happen to me before I put springs in and never had a issue agin on my short wheel base bronco lok
Lift springs and frame mounted traction bars are always a must. Blocks are nightmares in disguise for this reason. They work, but not the greatest I was planning on. RC front box with leaf slring lift for my truck along with traction bars. Then i sold it for a dually and never looked back. Parts were getting pricy vs now i haven't spent a dime in repairs just maintenance.
I'm not knocking you j please get a set of lift springs and get rid of the blocks! I have had my u bolts loosen. I didnt do any damage I feel your pain!
I'm glad ur not hurt!!!!....Please I know money is an issue. But when u put the rear end back together. Get a add a leaf or a totally new arched spring pack equal to the lift. I'm getting rid of my blocks for that reason. Your suppose to tighten up after retorque everytime u do ur lugnuts. I said a while back are they tapered blocks...if not that drive line is chugging on that axle. Not a fan of straight blocks and a block in general. Ladder bars after this build...will help bigtime!!!! Glad ur here to talk about it!!!!!....
You handled it like a man, been there myself and it sucks for sure. But, you’re alive and no one is hurt so that’s a good thing. Things will get better my friend 💪🏽
Whenever I put in Ubolts especially if it’s on a lifted truck like my cat eye I always put a couple tack welds on each nut so this doesn’t happen. Blown out a couple drive shafts before I tried that
@@shaunholden7633 yeah. Only problem with that is I’ve seen people over tighten then and actually strip the threads out so then you have to cut them off anyways
Glad yall okay! You can replace things, but you can't replace live. Don't give up! You and Lance got this! Look how the truck before yall bought it and bought it back to life, so yall can do it again! Have a great one!
Hate to see that 2021 isn’t off to a good start. Glad everyone is alright. Impressed by that mailbox and pole. Gotta replace mine. Kids and big trucks flying by have taken its toll on the thing. I know you said u-bolts needed to be re-torqued. I’d say that it was probably more like axle wrap. May want to look at adding traction bars. Hope you get the truck fixed in no time and affordable.
I may not have said it here, but this is why you don't do lift blocks in the rear. I've seen this exact outcome with street and mud trucks. You lose ride quality, but just do the spring lift.
I’d strongly suggest a shackle flip kit instead of blocks! Or atleast if you use block get a good set at traction bars. All the leverage the blocks add is quite substantial and cause heaps of issues especially with the torque of the duramax. Stuff happens! Keep up the great work!
Hey buddy sorry to hear about what happened!! I have lifted tons of trucks over the past 25 years I’ve been working on trucks!! When I get a lift kit it’s from sky jacker!! I will definitely take the u bolts that come with the lift & pitch them!! They usually have a nila lock nut they will not hold on a 3/4 truck!! I have my u bolts bent to the length I need by Merrill axel & wheel in downtown Des Moines Iowa!! I guarantee you that you will have to cut the U-boats off to remove the U-boats if ever needing to remove the leaf springs!! I have never had one come loose on me & have only been able to save like one or two u bolts by heating the nuts up to get off but I will still never reuse a ubolt!! To much damage can be done & I try & show people that want me to put a lift on for them!!
The bed is salvageable. I’ve fixed way worst. Wish I was near y’all I’d fix the bed and the fender for u free of charge just to say I worked on such a sweet truck. And y’all are ok so all is well. Can’t replace y’all!!!
All that matters is your alright brother, as long as y’all walked away that’s all that counts, yeah it could have been prevented but at the same time nobody is perfect but that’s what makes the world go around
Why you should avoid rough country lift blocks and buy ready lift lift blocks lol. Rough country leveling kits, or lifted coil springs, and shocks, and steering damper, dual steering stabilizer, adjustable Track bar are the only parts I can say I would recommend for trucks as safe.
" I was definitely on the throttle, you know, because we were just like hanging out. " 😆😆 i feel 99 percent of us do the same when were just hanging out with our best friends. whether we admit it to our wives is the only difference👌😂🐴
My dad and I put a lift kit on his Ford and it had the u-bolts and the blocks and we had tightened it once. A week later we where looking for a mechanic because It needed new manifolds and so he took it to a very thorough friend or just someone he knew for a some time. The guy does the mechanic work on the side so doing v10 manifolds was not quite the funnest for him but it was different. Any-who at some point during the less than a week of work he called my dad personally and told him that he had tightened up the u bolts because they were shimmying loose and within a couple of drives they woulda came off. He may be a bit more on the expensive side, but man, was it worth it.
Damn dude that’s crazy. Glad you were alright. And I’m glad to see it’s getting rebuilt again. I’d hate to see this truck get totaled out after all it’s been through
Damn, that sucks! Been there built my ‘93 f150 with a swapped built 1973 460 backed by a zf5 speed. Pretty clean truck being In New England. Couple new fenders got her back to rust free condition. I also bought a gt-500 hood that was 1 of 5 in the country, it was quite the pretty penny. Spent my whole summer building the truck with the built swapped 460, fenders, hood, 6” skyjacker with a 2” block lift, 38.5 boggers on 12” welds, new hd bumper, new paint job, custom interior, thousands of $ to meet up at a truck meet/drive in September of 2020. The old girl was the talk of the show! Unfortunately, the hood failed and destroyed the whole front clip! I know the feeling, it blows! The truck needed both front fenders, hood, grill, windshield, trim, and visor. How ever it was my own fault and I didn’t expect anyone else to pay for the rebuild, as so was your accident. I feel as though this video your looking for a following if this truck to get you a rebuild for it. I had many people offer me money because they had felt bad that mine had been wrecked, but I timbres them down as I’m not looking for others to rebuild my mistakes.... I respect the effort you have put in to the truck considering the condition you bought it as I was in the same predicament. That being said.....to each their own on the rebuild.
