DD, You remind me of the days when my dad, a Cali General Building Contractor. He would have me and my brothers, 7 of us, helping him do all kinds of jobs. He was amazing and made lots of money. Great video👍
Hey Darryl! I’m building a cabin up here in NW Montana, on some pretty uneven, rocky ground. This video absolutely answered a major questionmark in my building process. Thank you! Subbed. 👍🏼
Looking good! I’m impressed how you managed to do it all with strings. My strings would always end up sagging and I felt I couldn’t trust it. I ended up doing it with a laser instead, weird that yours was acting funny! That moment you’re realizing how tall that cabin is about to be lol felt the same even though mine is only 6 ft up on the high side.
Hi Darryl, im about to start on an A frame, I was doing my batter board the other day, and i pulled a string with a level about 50 ft and it was way off, i was wondering what the heck, i plan on going back out there with a laser, makes a lot of sense that at some length, the string level might not be very accurate, good to know. it also took me awhile to see you did this in canyon lake, cool area, im from the bulverde area. not a lot of A frames around.
Hey Faith! I put in the concrete footings for the A-Frame. I’m a licensed General Contractor now. I’d be happy to learn more about your project. 210-900-3543. Call or text me.
I know how important it is getting your posts level. I’ve also used a string with bubble level over 20-25’ when building a fence or pruning hedges. Never built a foundation yet. Did you figure out why your laser level was so far off level? Doesn’t make sense to me unless it wasn’t calibrated or set up properly somehow. Planning on building my own cabin in northern Canada perhaps in 2023 sometime.
Hi William! Yeah, I really don’t know why the laser level was so off. But I will say that I did a garage project with the same laser level and I noticed same problem happening. The laser line was off there too. Good luck with your cabin project, buddy!👍🙏💪
@Darryl Darks Thanks so much Darryl! I’m Canadian, living in Japan for over 10 years with a house and small farm, but wish to return to my home country. Been looking for land to build a cabin in northern Canada. Lots of planning yet to do. Working on my plan each day for over a year already. Considering many options.
hey man nice video. best luck for all your future endeavors. i am also started researching in to glamping, could please tell me where you got that beam seat , that metal thingy above the concrete which connects to the wood beams?
After sanding the post to square you should of flipped it upside down so the correction is made at the bottom where it's needed The top should be cut square and will be level then. Otherwise the post won't be level
That's way to level on the string line is ok as long as the string is not sagging it can still read level with a sagging string so be careful it's not sagging
Agreed. Yeah, I pulled the string pretty tight and it worked out well. If I had to do it again, I’d probably use a laser level or at least a really long Johnson level and have shorter distances between the piers. Thanks for watching the video. 🙏👍
My guy is out here learning how to build a house. Respect.
Yessirski! Anything is possible. 🙏👍

That’s awesome, man! I hope your dad is doing well! Thanks for watching. 🙏👍
Great that you're doing a job with real meaning. With construction you build something real, that you can see.
Yes, sir! So, glad you liked the video!👍🙏
Good for you bro!
From one Darryl to another Darryl I wish you great success!
Haha! Love it. Thanks, bro!👍🙏
Getting started with our cabin build and I appreciate the info! Looks great!👍
Thank you! It’s an amazing feeling to get started. 🙏👍
Good job Darryl! You inspire me to build my family’s home.
Super glad to hear that you enjoyed the videos, Darrin! Thank you for watching. 🙏👍
Looks like you had the laser set to not float. I have the same laser. You need to have it where the laser is not locked to have it do a level line.
Makes sense. Thanks for the heads up. 🙏👍

Thanks, man! Yeah. The feeling is unreal. It’s crazy how your cabin is coming along too. Roofing is no joke my friend. LOL.
@@darryldarks yeah I’m looking forward to being done with it, not a big fan of the heights!
Well, THIS just became my new favorite channel!!! Great stuff!!!

Good vid 👍
Thanks, brother! Glad you enjoyed it. 👍🙏
Great video!!!
@dwightrivera3281! Thanks for the love, brother! 👍 More great some on the way.
I used string levels whne I did my cabin build. Dont need fancy laser ones. As long as the level is center of the steing you're good.
Rob knows what’s up! 👍💪
This is looking hawt!
Gracias mi amigo! She is TALL too. The view from the top is crazy!
I wish I had the the will power of that table with the post stacked on it
You can do all things, brother! 🙏👍
I was 🤔the same thing 🥺😅

Bulverde! That’s awesome! Best of luck with the build. I’m sure you’ll do great. 🙏👍
I’m very close to doing the same thing you are doing up in NY
Go get em’, JBURNS! You got this! Get that miter saw out and build something amazing!!💪👍🔥
Hey Darryl, who put your cement posts in? I'm in central Texas also, looking for a reference. Thanks!

@@darryldarkshow did you start for general contractor certification?
@@dilonprice3648 I sure did.👍
Yeah, put the string level in the middle, between what you’re measuring, and don’t move it.
You got it, Montegut! 🙏👍

When we're inspections? how they go?
My inspection were awhile back. And, they went great! 🙏👍
hey man nice video. best luck for all your future endeavors. i am also started researching in to glamping, could please tell me where you got that beam seat , that metal thingy above the concrete which connects to the wood beams?
Hey! I get everything from with Home Depot or Lowe’s. 🙏👍
Is the level tool any good ?
The bubble level turned out great!
After sanding the post to square you should of flipped it upside down so the correction is made at the bottom where it's needed
The top should be cut square and will be level then.
Otherwise the post won't be level
Strong advise, Mr. Strong! 💪💪💪
unlock your lazer bro! you have it in the locked position
I locked and unlocked that laser a bunch of times, broski! It’s cool. I’ve moved on. 🙏👍
You could have found level across your piers . Find the difference from your zero corner elevation and add the difference.
Truth, brother.
That's way to level on the string line is ok as long as the string is not sagging it can still read level with a sagging string so be careful it's not sagging

Now yer talkin...LASER !
Glad you liked it!
✌🏿
Thanks, TV! 👍
Plumb & level = 2 differant applications.
True.
He uploaded this video 7 months ago. he should have the final post up by now.
Oh, the post are all up at this point. Lol. Thanks for watching. 🙏👍
If the beginning is off a little, the end result will be way off.
Truth.
Forget the sander, really.
Oh, definitely! LOL.
하는 거 보니 참 깝깝하네...
It’s great for me! 👍💪🔥
