INFJ psychiatrist here. Roughly half the residents in my training program were INFJs even though INFJs only make up 1% of the population. I completely disagree that extroverts lean towards psychiatry, quite the opposite. Most psychiatrists I know are introverted. I generally see about 8-10 patients a day, which I think is much less than other specialities. Psychiatrists also tend to work solo or in small teams.

I also INFJ but as a physiotherapist...
      is way more crazy ❤😂😂😂❤
      1st patient -
Patient ask old lady: are you a type of psychology/psychiatry/counseling licence therapist ?
Me: Yes !, we are licensed and we don't do 'the-rapist' psychology but physically 'the-rapist'
Patient: what do you mean ?
Me: we are more hands on touching patient's body and heal their body pain, even really 'the-rapist' will prescription exercises for genital organs homework, yah ... we don't give medicine drug that's a very pharmacist job..
Patient: oh my that was unexpected journey in hospital.
Me: not just that dirty thought, we also comes with hospitalised gym facilities and spa as well, yes we give massage, with hospitalised facilities swimming pool (hydrotherapy we called it), don't worry Ma'am you are now currently in hotel, just enjoyed you 3 days 2 night stay , yah. Your pelvic floor muscles are going to gain strength and check out from here soon ( i don't say 'discharge from hospital' so patient won't confuse with vagina discharge 😅)
Patient: hotel... hospital.... facilities....sounds interesting, can i hang out with my husband honeymoon in here together so i won't feel lonely while having your hospitalised facilities.
*tomorrow husband admission for knee pain and enjoy romantic massage therapy together, exercise together in gym, swim exercise together*
Me and my colleagues: is so nice to see old couple together not lonely is the key to heal.
      2nd patient -
this patient always comes in with wheelchair and thought it was the end for his life , handicap forever. One day, months later after follow up, after done all massage and exercise session, i just advocate him, "Yes ! Yes !, perfect your very handsome you can stand, you can walk, he was so full of spirit and throw away his wheelchair and crutches, walk infront for therapist eyes, just keep advocate the word handsome will help 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 now he so happy. "Handsome make him strong"
      3rd patient -
Doctor almost plan of operation but thank God no need.
i replied doctor, it was not the organ, it was just the bone need to be alignment.
once done follow up session monthly, patient healed.
      And doctor was surprised.
Even the doctor spoke out loud infront of me...."you physical therapist eat voodoo for breakfast and fasting for Holy God able to heal patient without surgery needed, just touch, rape the patient with sweet talk emotional support that's all you do, WTH !!!"

I’m an INFJ and even though it wasn’t in the mentioned list for my personality type, I’m in love with emergency medicine. I feel like it constantly involves advocating for others who have been let down by the healthcare system and/or vulnerable populations. While I may be introverted I love new challenges and being in the action. I believe everyone is a different variation of their personality type which is great for getting a diverse group in each specialty!

    • @snowflake1762

INFJs have Ni as their dominant function, which is all about finding patterns and predictability. They have Se as their inferior function, and can really struggle with making decisions or acting on the spot. They typically do not thrive in fast-paced or emergency situations, which is probably why emergency medicine was not listed for the INFJ in this video. (also if you've typed yourself using letters and online tests, you are probably mistyped. MBTI is based off COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS, NOT LETTERS. I would recommend researching about cognitive functions 😊)

Well hello there! (waves) INFJ ER worker here, registrar to be exact. I personally find the ER to be an exciting and fast-paced challenge, and the wonderful thing about being a registrar is that it’s non-clinical (aka not providing direct care) role which means that I actually wind up with plenty of time to charge my introvert battery. ❤
And yes, we DO get to advocate for patients here, and in my short time here I know that I’ve made a direct and lasting impact on my patients, even in my brief interactions with them.
So long story short, if you’re considering ER work, just go for it! Or even volunteer at your local hospital if you’re unsure about making an actual commitment to it. It might just be THE career for you but you’ll never know until you try.
      Hope this helps. ❤

I'm also INFJ and the options shown are not my favorites but I love anesthesiology and OBGYN. I actually studied psychology for years until I realized I didn't like the field and I'm not the best person to counsel people. But I love being an advocate esp around disability and women's health issues. There's a lot of advocacy work within pediatrics but I find surgery very interesting and I wouldn't have that option in primary care/peds. I was a secretary in oncology for a few years and I loved it! Definitely a lot of advocacy work within oncology

I did used to want to be a pediatric nurse though until I did my rotation and was slightly overwhelmed. ENFP primary function is Ne, extraverted intuition. Their secondary function is Fi, *introverted* feeling. They are more like ENTP or INFP than ESFP. They are excellent at pattern recognition and cross referencing, communicating complex info and seeing how something in one field or situation applies "harmonically" a different one. It is a common mistake to overemphasize their extraversion and feeling. In this case all the recommendations are ones you said were good for sensory.
The whole "dont say the cake was bad and recall birthdsys" is *extraverted* feeling, Fe.
Introverted feeling/Fi, is more about matching feeling tones to patterns analogous to musical notes or colors, (but those are sensory things). Inttoverted feeling is the whole "it vibes like x" phenomenon, not about people pleasing.
I think Rhematology or Nuerology, Psychiatry, Infectious disease/public health or focus on differential diagnostics aspect would be the stereotypical fit for how they think. Although they tend to have a silly streak and excitable, so maybe throw in pediatrics and emergency.

I don't think psychiatry or internal medicine is a great fit for extroverts, to be honest. Introverts thrive on alone time, as well as in-depth one-on-one conversations. They enjoy getting to know patients' histories and contemplating possible diagnoses for an extended period. I understand that these are just tendencies, and anyone can find happiness in any specialty. I just wanted to highlight this aspect as a true introvert who is torn between choosing psychiatry and internal medicine. Great video, by the way, as usual!

I really like your videos, I think they are very helpful and insightful.
But I have some notes on this video. The mbti letters are not the description of the personality, instead they are a code to know the cognitive functions of said personality. This theory was originally created by The psychiatrist Carl Jung who stated that there is 8 cognitive functions: Ti, Te, Fi, Fe, Ni, Ne, Si and Se. Each personality type has 4 functions one feeling function, one thinking, one intuition and one sensory. 2 opposite functions in a personality are found in opposite attitudes meaning that if you have Fe you would necessarily have Ti, if you have Fi you then have Te and so on.
Then the myres briggs model came to life and gave each function stack the 4-letter-name.
Describing the personalities based on letters instead of the functions gives shallow and sometimes inaccurate understanding of the theory. Example is the letter I or E, it doesn’t talk about the social battery of the personality, it instead means an ‘I’ personality has its dominant function to be introverted ( Ni, Si, Fi or Ti) and an ‘E’ personality has main function to be extroverted ( Fe, Te, Se or Ne). Extroversion in this theory means external application of thoughts, feelings, intuition or sensing, it includes people but not limited to them. Introversion meaning internal processing of thoughts, feelings, intuition or sensing.
For example Te function is defined by Carl Jung in his book Psychological Types as “Thinking which attains visible form” and “The thought of extraverted thinking produces”. Te is focused on being productive and getting things done efficiently. It also is associated with leadership and directing a group to get work done. Te includes people but is mainly focused on efficiency and productivity.

I’m an ENTJ and the top specialty on my list is, and always has been, pathology. While I do consider myself to be an outgoing people person and a natural leader, path has had my entire heart and soul since I was 14. Sure, I’ve played around with the idea of PM&R and palliative care and I’ve had people try and recruit me into psychiatry and neurology, but the truth is that I fall more in love with pathology all the time and can’t see myself doing anything else. Honestly though just being out of the house and around other humans, talking on the phone, chatting with colleagues, all of these things charge my battery just fine. I think I’m solid.

    THIS IS SO ACCURATE.
I'm an entj/intj in professionals, wanting to aspire neurosurgery, it's my dream. Being an doctor & choosing the surgical field has been fascinating ever since my childhood and Brain! Its mesmerizing for me. I love getting learning about it, i really wanna get into research department too in mainly neurosurgery or other departments too, also I'm having an vision to cure people's mental state into something better, so functional neurosurgery hypes me up everytime. Like can talk about neuroscience, cognitive brain like hours. Haha, anyways I can be completely extrovert sometimes, coz i really love to lead a team, leadership goals! Yk. but my energy mostly gets recharged when I'm with me alone.
Its a sense of peace that comes along with it, away from this chaotic world all the time. But guess what, I'm actually an hybrid or an mix. Coz my thinking and feelings get balanced quite very well like 50% as well as extravertion and intravertion so it's like I'm naturally an INFJ as per the test, i believe it too but what it seems is I'm moreover have a hybrid or balancing personality mainly these 4 (INFJ, INTJ, ENTJ, ENFJ) the intuitive judgment is common in all. But my thinking pattern changes or resolves it's own as per the alternatives. I've noticed i tend to show my emotions, emphathy only to my closed ones and kindness is my language of soul, i may say coz i really love it! Love helping ppl In need, giving them the best advices, ect.
It brings me so much of happiness.
Btw, my professional side (intj/entj) is completely different, I'm seriously focused, not rude but strict sometimes, leadership roles, interaction with people, analysis of new ideas/outcomes, i love doing this too! Also i don't let my emotions take control over me, atleast not at my study or work place. Discipline is my key, consistent progress & tasking out it all in schedules/to-do mainly, reaching my potential and more :) in conclusion, someday I'll fullfill my dream and find my way back to this comment.❤

Great video however it is better to not rely on the dichotomy of the letters if you want to find your mbti. You should study cognitive functions, understand them and see how they apply onto your life then figure out which functions do you identify with the most.
When i used to rely on letters, i had such a hard time finding my type, i could see myself in so many different scenarios and just couldn't decide. But after learning cognitive functions, i quickly found out that i am Ne dominant and the rest also came easily and i found my type.
Using cognitive function is the most accurate way to finding your True Mbti type.

Myers-Briggs is not a very well regarded measurement tool in the field of personality psychology. It has poor test retest reliability for one, and it is generally found to have no predictive power for any sort of outcome. Using it to choose a specialty is like using your horoscope sign to make decisions about the future.
