A 22 year old Jeff Porcaro played on this song. Incredible groove and he had it right from the start. This whole album is fantastic.

Boz was schoolmates with Steve Miller and they were in bands together. In fact, Boz was in the earliest days of The Steve Miller Band. He left for a solo career before Steve had his big hits like "The Joker."

I've got a cassette, yes cassette of Boz and Jerry Garcia sitting in with with Allman Brothers.

      Super bluesy.

It also sounded like his girlfriend was getting fed up with his antics:
"Lido's on the run, having great big fun
    Til he got the note,
Saying 'Toe the line or blow,'
And that was all she wrote..."

This was a big hit for Boz and always was a good times tune. To hear him stretch out a bit with a blazing Duane Allman on guitar, try Loan Me a Dime, it is a legendary jam. Enjoy! 🎸

The drum's rhythm is actually a shuffle beat. To the best of my knowledge, the song is about the life of a band's roadie(s),

Imagine seeing Boz in concert and this is the final song of the night. Thousands of people singing along at the top of their voices. One of the sexiest songs is Bozs "You can have be anytime" with killer guitar solo at the end from Santana.

Boz Scaggs is so, so good! I encourage you to check out "The Dukes of September" It was a live act back in 2010. Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald, and Walter Fagen played together and played all their hit songs. Being "The Doobie Bros" and "Steely Dan" and some other solo stuff. They had an All-Star ensemble of musicians playing behind them, really great stuff. I thoroughly enjoy your reactions! You guys are great!

Boz Skaggs and Steve Miller were friends, with some of Skaggs' musicians playing with Miller from time to time. Both guys really understood the 'swapiness' of the New Orleans sound, Texas blues, and the art of writing catchy, memorable hooks. This is by far my favorite Boz Skaggs cut... it's a classic! You can hear how much of an influence on Billy Joel his music was.

I've ALWAYS loved this song, but you opened my eyes to something on it that I CAN'T BELIEVE I never put together. It's SO obvious though now that y'all pointed it out here. The FIFTIES MUSICAL INFLUENCE is ALL over this song! Bowser from Sha-na-na might as well be in the back belting those lower horn tones in the background even. That's crazy. Good stuff. Good take on y'alls part.

Luv Ya'll so much and when I return to Lake Occone Georgia from Barranquilla, Colombia I must have you come visit; can you water ski? In 1973 on Christmas eve, I volunteered to do security above March AFB, and I would park my Mustang near and play an Underground rock station out of Los Angeles. Just after midnight they played a co-written Boz Scaggs and Dwain Almon piece called "Loan me a dime". It was an instant classic especially for a guy that listened to the Almon Bros. Jam at their farm outside Macon. Both Artist claim the song.

It reminds me of the concept of the movie THE STING. If you ever do movie reactions, this is a good one. Robert Redford plays a small time con man who meets up with Paul Newman for one more job, & it's a big con. Lots of twists & turns. Funny, cool ragtime music. Won best picture in 1973.
