      Paro Bhutan was one of my favorite landings. I've done it twice, very exciting, and fun to see green horns in tears as we rocket down the valley.
      The grass strip like a ski jump into my village in Indonesia is probably the best though. 23 percent grade slope

    I totally agree, Jeb. I don’t get to fly a whole lot, even as a member of the airline industry, just because of work schedule, but this whole thing gives me so much perspective and while I’ve never taken it for granted, I miss being able to at least fly a 2 hour flight to visit my friends in Michigan when I live in Atlanta. Thank you Jeb, for highlighting such a great aspect of our modern society. More people need to go out and see what’s outside their “stomping grounds”

    Great and emotional video. St Helena is in my bucket list (or my dream list) As to the best views from a plane window... I have to mention three (1) Landing in Venice sitting on the right side of the plane you see the whole city from the air, (2) A take off from LGA in late spring at sunset, the Skyline of Manhattan with several shades of pink and orange in the background, and (3) Uluru again at sunset seen from a plane flying from MEB to SIN

    So Jeb, I stumbled upon your trip reports a week ago and I must say although not being a fan of just trip reports, you took it to another level. It's not just reporting, it's a discovery. With 23 years and having 76 flights on my card I can't complain, but this reminds me of what I am rooting for in life and the personal goals I've set for myself. I'm working at CGN airport, the world's second largest UPS hub. When all this is over, it would be a pleasure to welcome you and show you around in the city that is often overlooked between Frankfurt and Dusseldorf. Stay safe!

    Well my best window viev I've ever had was in 1989 from Frankfurt to Vancouver , on an LH DC10 and we were around five hours into this flight when we passed Greenlands Ice ! I remember it was a clear sunny Day so we had an great view on the Ice and there were some small Lakes visible , they were shining turquoise ! I ve never seen Turquoise in such beautiful shining again , and via my Heandphones(which used to be just Plastic Straws at this time) they played Belfast Child by Simple Minds ! unforgeteable and whenever I hear this song , it brings me Goossebumps ,!

    very beautiful and very nicely done
    makes me think of my Dad who used to work for Northeast until acquired by Delta early 70's. He was electrician until Delta he couldn't relocate the family from Bos to Atlanta so stayed on with Delta as a fueler and cabin service, cleaning..quite a step down for him anyway
    we used to take trips ocassionally and would take me into the airport to see the airplanes and hangers and stuff and always go to airshows....Im hooked on avaition since then and watch as much as I can...I may fly once a year or so on Delta to MCO and I love it.
    so, thanks for sharing your love for flying here on this platform...please don't stop

    Hey Jeb, the aircraft you flew for your return ZS-YAF is ex Virgin Australia VH-ZPM which explains the seat covers and Business Class partition which appear to have remained. Sunset is my favourite time to fly as it provides many different types of scapes. As an employee of an airline I to hope air travel will return to what it was in some form be it reduced somewhat.

    • @TheCriminalViolin
      @TheCriminalViolin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pilotseye24 Are you sure? Or is it structured more so like most other airlines, where the smaller brand, in this case Airlink, is a "independent brand" of the big airline, like that of say, PelAir, Horizon or American Eagle to their respective parent companies? As far as I have came to understand and read, Airlink is akin to that with South African, so I have to wonder if that will cause Airlink to subsequently get shut down as well.

    • @pilotseye24
      @pilotseye24 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheCriminalViolin No that would be an airline like South African Express.
      Airlink are privately owned. They did have a code share agreement with SAA but as stated above that will no longer be the case from June as Airlink has severed all it's ties with the national carrier.

    2 sights still remain vivid in my mind....(1) on a night flight from Melbourne to Perth (Aust), the pilot skirted an intense thunderstorm over the Great Australian Bight. The lightning within the cloud mass made for a mesmerizing explosion of colour. (2) on a day flight from Dublin to Rome, the flight took us over the Alps. I had never seen the grandeur of mother nature was impressive.

    Thanks Jeb! I have always traveled vicariously with you on your journeys and I particularly enjoy the time you spend and share at the various destinations. Other aviation vloggers devote all their time to the flight itself, something that is essential too; however, I see so many arrive in some wonderful, scenic destination without so much as panning across the view in front of the airport. After all, we go to destinations for a reason -- business and leisure. Even with business travel, often the meeting location was chosen specifically for its beauty, climate or significant points of interest. If travel is the Tootsie Roll Pop, then the destination is the chocolate center.
    You, more than most, include views and information about your destinations. In the case of St. Helena, among those remote islands I often dream of traveling to, you devoted enough time to give the viewer a feel for the island rather than spend the time there comparing their snack bar breakfast biscuits to those found in Omaha, NE.

    Here in Greenland - we are now COVID free. But the island is closed, with only a handfull of flights domesticly and international. Only serving cargo, and or key personel from the healt sector, police, military or as me - Working with critical infrastructure, as an Air Traffic Service provider.
    We must stay strong, and we will get out on the other side of this pandemic.
    Great vid by the way, St. Helena was one of my first bucket list destinations. A close friend, once pasted trough when he sailed around the globe in a sailing yacht. The stories he told, of the place, the people, the weather etc ... made it to my bucket list.

    i so completely agree with you. Cape Town aka The Mother City has left a very indelible mark on me too. I was also there in Feb 2020 and enjoyed it so tremendously that I so need to go back there when the world goes back to normal.

    I absolutely LOVE your videos. This one in particular...seeing my home city in such splendor. I couldn't help to shed a tear during your reflection on the final approach into CPT. I miss traveling and the sound of incoming and jets departing CPT. Thank you Jeb. Please reach out to me the next time you're in Cape Town. I would love to show you around. Keep well and stay safe!
