HORRIBLE STARTUP! Dover Traditional Hydraulic Elevator Med Science Library in College Station, TX.

- Video Recorded on April 6, 2023: OMG!!!!!!!! This elevator leaves SO MUCH to be desired!!!! Especially that motor starting up!!!! Before I go further on this, I happened to revisit this elevator back in late 2022 before this recent visit, and it ran better, but this time, it's gotten BAD!! Really bad if not worse. The motor starts up with a SICK SOUNDING groan when leaving the bottom floor. I really don't know if this thing is low on oil again or something (as the motor begins to struggle usually at the very top floor, but this time, the motor is already struggling badly right upon departing the bottom floor). When I come back in December, I'll try to check up on this thing to see how it's doing. Installed in 1984.

Seems like the Elevator Car decided to get more mad at You on the 2nd trip up-at 2:09, ha ha! But in all honesty, the Hydraulic Pump needs to be inspected by the maintenance crew, before this ride quality gets any worse. Really nice Dover Elevator as usual though.

That is terrible!! That motor is on its very last legs, and I think it should be replaced ASAP. I've usually had problems with hydraulic Dovers personally, but those are NOTHING (motor-wise) compared to this!!
That has got to be the worst Dover. That is unsafe and should be reported and fixed immediately. That is a hazard

Now I see why there is sign below the floor indicator telling to exit with caution. Because the elevator itself has issues.

Hey Jim, I hope you are well. I know we are meeting in Dallas this coming January. Just to be sure, it will be sometime between Jan. 1st-4th? I also want to tell you because the videos will start being uploaded soon, I did go to Houston last week, but it was a brief trip. I was nowhere near Sugar Land. I thought about contacting you, but I didn't want to bother you if you had work or school because it was during the week. You were right about how Houston has become so much more uptight. I went to get some retakes, and it seemed harder compared to when I was there in December. Deerbrook Mall was hard because the security guard was just standing by the glass elevator most of the time I was there. I had to skip it. In Downtown Houston at the Four Seasons Hotel, I almost got busted. I actually was confronted by an employee who kept following me around the hotel and when I rode on the glass elevator, she went up and down the stairwell. She asked if she can help me. I just said I was leaving and walked out. At the Houston Center Mall, after I filmed an elevator, a security guard was looking at me from downstairs. I just left right away. At this one parking garage, there was an attendant, but I got inside without being asked anything. I was lucky to have filmed those elevators. Baybrook Mall was still easy. Deerbrook Mall kind of became harder for some reason because of that security guard standing by the glass elevator. The Galleria was easy, but that Dillard's became harder. I too was almost busted there. The security guard saw me filming going down the escalator as he was going up, and he said something on his radio but I didn't hear it. I left right away too. You were right, Houston became super uptight about filming. I fear the same is starting to happen with Dallas too, as I was recently almost busted for filming a museum glass elevator. The old Houston I knew from 2017-2022 was not like that. Idk what happened. It was a brief trip. I flew in at midnight and only had 2 full days and flew out very early morning. I was far from Sugar Land. But we will be meeting in January. I'm also going back to Houston in March to see Lee there too. Not sure if I'll go back anytime before March because I do want to get more retakes out there.
Hello Hanny, I'm really sorry for not getting back to you after reading all this as it'll take quite a long time to finish and what I'm responding back to you is quite a lot to write. But to answer your first question, I'll be in Dallas in the days of January 1st through the 5th of this coming year. To fairly tell you, I was definitely quite busy in school still as of today, but I should be at least free starting next year since I won't be taking that many classes and that the next semester is my last one before I graduate. Yes, I rightfully told you the entire time that Houston is not a photography friendly city, and I rightfully mean it well, nor has it been since I've lived here my whole life. I haven't film anything since August aside from a little at University Of Houston, but that was it. What floor was the security guard standing at Deerbrook? If he was standing by the elevator on the first floor, better to maybe start from the second floor and get right off from where you started. Don't feel bad about the Four Seasons Hotel, I got busted there twice several years back. Do you remember which parking garage was it that you're referring to? There's Walker At Main, which is where I got busted at. Then there's the Travis Garage and McKinney Garage. The Travis Garage is where there's a security/attendant office right by the elevators. I need to revisit the Galleria since I haven't even been back there for so long, especially those Dillard's elevators that I really needed a much-updated take which I definitely won't plan on filming the escalators knowing the whole entire store would literally see me filming, and I would be questioned instantly. If in any event Dallas becoming less friendly like Houston is, you still wouldn't consider moving like you did before? Because I've noticed that you seemed to be moving cities constantly mainly because the city isn't friendly. El Paso, Tucson, Pheonix, and now Dallas. Don't you still love Dallas? I know you despised El Paso the most. I wonder what else is gonna be. No offense, but I just wanted to know. Although College Station is a rather small town, but YOU WILL NOT REGRET living in College Station! Trust me as I say this, the people there are incredibly amazing. I was just there more than a month ago, and everyone says that College Station is friendly, mainly because of the focus of A&M which is the most friendliest university in the whole entire country, and possibly the world (as the research clearly states that). No one will ever give you a hard time in College Station. It's nothing like Houston nor any other cities like New York City, Pheonix, Denver, Tucson, Los Angeles, Charlotte, and the DC metro area. Based on the incident you had at Stonebriar, Willow Bend, and the museum, does this mean Dallas won't be friendly for much longer? I wouldn't be rightfully surprised if that is the case when I do come in town in early January with a lot of rapidly increasing population, the friendliness is going to get less and less. Makes me feel like this is not the realistic Texas we live in now (except for College Station).

That is why I didn't know if to contact you to tell you that I was close to your area, because I figured you were busy with school. I am for sure going back in March to meet up with Lee in Houston. The security guard was standing on the first floor. He would have seen me filming since it is a glass elevator. I'm going to need to return anyways because the Macy's elevator was out of order when I was there. I felt like I was being followed at the Four Seasons Hotel from the moment I walked in. I don't think I'll ever return to that hotel unless I was a guest. The parking garage was 1111 Main Street Garage which was formerly Sakowitz. The attendant stood by the ticket machine. I really wanted to film those elevators because it was Sakowitz Department Store. He didn't say anything to me, I expected to be turned around, but I risked it. I exited through the office building when I was finished. That same attendant then stared right at me as I walked by off the property. Who knew that you can get busted in a parking garage, these days it can happen anywhere. Be careful at the Dillard's by the Galleria, I was almost busted, but I left right on time. I was fine inside the Galleria itself, but it was filled with security guards at every corner. I feel like they would have thrown me out for the day if I were caught. I'm not moving anywhere. If Dallas does become less photography friendly, I'm still staying here. Outside of elevator photography, the DFW area is incredibly friendly and kind. People are so nice and helpful here. I still do love Dallas. I am close to friends and family here and I don't feel isolated. The only complaint I have is that the job market here is not friendly. It is so hard to even get a low paying job here. They tend to choose native Texans and is not friendly towards transplants, at least that is what someone said on this forum on the internet. Other than that, I love Dallas. I would just have to be sneakier if it became less photography friendly, such as using my phone instead of a camera. Dallas is definitely friendlier than Arizona as a whole. I don't think I would move to a small town because I love big cities. I would get so bored in a smaller city. I'm planning to stay in Dallas long term because I'm close to friends and family. And Lubbock to me is my College Station, where everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Lubbock is a very easy city to film elevators in. I have also heard of other incidents happening to other enthusiasts in Dallas too. Maybe it depends when it happens and who is watching those cameras. I will say, Dallas did seem to be friendlier than Houston, I compared the two. Houston however did seem friendlier than Phoenix, not elevator related, but in general. Also, many people from California and other states are moving to Texas. That could be why it may be less photography friendly. I bet San Antonio and Austin are both very photography friendly cities, but I have little experience in both of them. I will be visiting San Antonio and Austin much more often now, since my cousin is now going to be attending UT Austin. I hope I would get to meet CaptainElevator someday in the future.
This needs to be fixed.
I would not want to ride this ever because I do not want to get stuck in this elevator. I was already stuck in an elevator 1 time and I don't need it happening again. Poor Maintenance
If this elevator hasn't been maintained a lot, then it's time for attention. That startup was AWFUL!
