I agree. Most times I’d rather just spent more to get a knife with better handle materials. That being said, I got some RGT Ti skinny scales for my 15V PM2, Manix and Shaman and they are game changers 👍
Yes! If I really like a given design but either don't love the stock scales or like an aftermarket scale a lot better, absolutely. It's usually looks or feels but in some cases, it's functional. For instance, the Flytanium scales on my Dragonfly do more than make it feel more sturdy. With the added washers and titanium back spacer, the knife seems to run better and reassembly is easier.
Most of the time I only replace scales if they're really flimsy/featherweight, like on a Bugout or Deka for instance. Otherwise, most of the time stock scales seem pretty reasonably done. Especially metal vs plastic-y scales. But, man, no scales will ever make a Spyderco look cool 🤣😎👍 It'd be hard to wait on USA-made scales if you had good options from brands that OEM in China, but I'd hate myself for sullying a USA-made knife with something like that. Not knocking you, but I'm that dedicated to keeping it "pure." Just wouldn't feel right otherwise. I don't even like keeping my knives in cases or rolls that are made in China 😆it's the last bastion of USA-made stuff that I am clinging to...sniff 😢
I am probably older than most people watching this but I have never had the desire to "mod, personalize or otherwise change" scales or other components of any of my knives. Treating knives like a bunch of little girls with their Barbie dolls will never be in my plans! Modern knives are expensive enough without the added expense of non essential nonsense. As far as pre orders go, let those money grabbers finance their own screwball projects, I'm not a finance company ‼️

@@tomweingart2337 it’s alright bucko, interesting obsession you have about mentioning little girls. Hopefully you’re not on a list somewhere for that. Can guarantee that the endura with ti scales in the vid is better than any knife you have.

Nice. RGT has good stuff. I've had a few scales from him.

That was the motivation for putting ti on the k390 wharnie. Just made sense to me

Thanks. Now I feel worse. The endura is made in Japan so maybe that helps
@@chucknunface I'm here to shame...I mean help...everybody make good choices when it comes to their knives 🤣❤
Just bought Awt scales. Love the look and feel. But now my native has lock rock 😢
Well that's not great. Maybe disassembled it and make sure everything is tight.
Mod em all🤘🤘
Your definition of "mod' is different from most people's 🤣
@ true statement 😎
I want to but too broke-ish from all the knife purchases.
Heard that
I’ve never scale swapped or rit dyed. Too poor, plus I’m too hard on stuff. I just want it to cut. I think it looks cool but not for me.
I get it.

@ArrowVelocity if the EDC realm means acting like a little girl dressing up my Barbie dolls then you're correct I'm NOT in it!
