thank you for this easy to follow tutorial, one thing i did find, if you have issues remembering the length and angle, just click the presets drop down and it will show you the last ones you did
this is a bit embarrassing to say but it has taken me several months to become comfortable with gimp .. previously I tried several programs at the same time and ended up learning none ... after I started following you and taking it step by step I have finally become so familiar with the program that I am able to solve problems that were impossible before.. thank you!
Nice tutorial. A bit of a pain compared to photoshop, but it gets the job done for free. And since I do not use photoshop, this is exactly what I needed, just need to do it a few times so I can get down all the steps in my head.
3:45-5:50 for the long shadow make sure to set the "Clipping" to "Adjust" otherwise the text layer won't grow. In case you don't have this option you should update your Gimp to the latest version. If for whatever reason you may not be able to do so you can set the size of the text layer to the image size first (which kinda discards the text information) and apply the long shadow afterwards.
Thanks Mike! I just switched to Gimp this week (from CS6), and it's awesome! Q: Is it possible to adjust the long shadow (and other filters) once you applied it?
Nice, but you do explain too much, and it gets distracting. For instance, you do not say you released your mouse. I think those details are intuitive. You did not have to show us that you are moving the pallet from one position to another, and you do not have to tell us that this is your toolbox; this is the other. You need to talk less.
Thanks for checking out my 3D text effect tutorial! Have any questions? Let me know below 👇

Once I drop a layer with a 'shadow-effect' on the layers panel. How to re-edit that effect, without having to delete that layer, and re-create it?
Thank you m
Its nice
i love your eyes.

You had me at The Dude Talking...
60% of the time it works, every time
The Highlight didn't work for me... any idea? I did everything according to what you were saying I suppose
Make sure the highlight layer is at the top of the stacking order, and the opacity is sufficiently high enough.
Why gimp is like this how you have edited the toolbox and other sociable dialogs
They all are docks... You can move them and customize as you like...
Ok thanks
First
Gimp dieing ?
Unfortunately, no Arab teaches lessons GIMP

What laptop configuration is it that you are using ?
