Thank you great I have 5 in a 6" pot but only 8 inches tall I'm going to wait to get another few inches so the stems are stronger - don't have a greenhouse in Withee , Wi but started seed inside a milk jug middle of April outside and it worked - also hollyhock - coneflower- daisies -cleome and lots more plus vegetables - thank you for the info on rooting the cutbacks ( I do that with my coleus )
I love the idea of more plants from cutting back the flowers. I was wondering about Eryngium, I have finally got a plant from seed and was curious if I could cut this back? The variety is Blue Sea Holly. LOVE LOVE your channel you are so genuine.
HI Robyn, Root cuttings taken in early spring are the best way to propagate, as sea hollies are propagated vegetatively to reproduce the same plant. Lay lengths of root on the compost and cover lightly. If you want to experiment with trying to root I would.. but I have no idea really if it will work.. Thank you for watching!
I love Cosmos too but they do get leggy fast. I will plan to take your suggestion and cut them this season. Did a late planting here in Virginia, but they're already about 18" tall. Question: is it best to cut them after they bloom, or before they bloom, or does it matter? Thanks and keep up the good work. Your videos are informative and just down-to-earth, so to speak. Easy to relate!
@@dianemummvideos We've had some pretty nasty summer storms lately and mine are way too tall and "leggy." But none have fallen over. Even after some hail.
I really appreciate your hard work getting the Cosmos blooming so nicely.
Thank you very much!
This was so helpful! I can hardly wait to attack my way too tall cosmos and plant the rooted tops in the sparse areas of my flowerbeds. Thank you!
My favourite flower. So simple..so pretty.❤
Goodness the cosmos are so very pretty!
they sure are... should be growing these every year.. thanks for stopping by Linda!
They are so pretty! Can't wait to try this with mine when they are big enough.
good luck Sarah.. just think of all the new plants you will have.. :)
Oh the very last image is sweet
Such a pretty wispy flower!
yes the foliage is so light and airy.. thanks for stopping by!

Great video. Thank you
This is my first year growing them and I was trying to figure out why mine are rooting like crazy from the stem, but you answered that
Glad you liked it!

thats good to know that they root in water....thanks!
You bet! so easily too!
Cosmo cuttings can root? This is good news! I planted some seeds inside for spring! Even the seedlings are leggy!
yes and pretty easy as well to root.. they do get leggy fast...

thank you.. you can cut them anytime.. if I didn't let them get away from me I would of cut them sooner.. but you know how that goes.. :)
Do you change the water daily? Add anything to water? I feels like a step missing. You showed the cuttings and then the rooted cosmos.
no I didn't change daily maybe once a week.. did not add anything to water..
How long does it take to root in water?
How hardy are they in high wind?
Well, we have a lot of wind here and they seem to do fine, but they do get tall. Keep that in mind.😊

Mine are about 6 ft tall. I’ll need to cut them back. They are not perennials?
Hi Rob, they are annuals but can self seed.. which means they may come back next year on their own..
