I started cosmos inside and pinched them to make them bushier. They got to 3 ft tall and have so many flowers! so trry topping them when they are smaller plants.
Great to know you can cut them back. I grew cosmos for the first time last year and they got over six feet tall. I’m going to try cutting them next year when I grow them again.
Sir may i know how wide is the space where you walk in between rows? I am planning to plant cosmos sensation (yates brand) and it says on the description that they reach 3 feet high.
So gad that I watched this. Plating. mixed flower seed for the birds and bees in San Diego lawn this year and trying to figure out alli can to maintain them. ThanQ.✌️
Live and learn. Great experiment with awesome results both on the cut back and the trellis. A learning experience for me as I never had any problem with them standing up on their own but I also didn't have a cut flower farm that needed rows to be walked through. Awesome job Phil. Keep the learning going and the experiments that can help others.
I randomly grew some and they are HUGE...at least 10ft tall. They stood up fine until around the end of October... then some of them started to fall over. They didn't get flowers until pretty late in the summer...I thought they weren't going to get any... but it's November now and in NE Ohio and they're still flowering tons. I'm going to plant them every year now... they're so cool.

I've done a little more every year. At least 4ft wide rows now.
