We finally get to see Krieg in its military industrial and religious glory. It reflects the krieg culture so well. The buildings being drab and efficient but still having all the religious iconography spread around for being one of the most religiously devoted planets in the imperium. In life war, In death peace. In life shame, In death atonement.
I love that Krieg has never had a legion turn traitor since they rejoined the empire after the 500 year civil war. Shows their level of sheer devotion to the Emperor. Plus the fact that they still feel like they are redeeming themselves for the past treachery of their planet.
>Kriegers have like five fan films made about them plus a few minis Bro What about the Armageddon steel legion? They do everything kriegers do with less skulls and more heavy armor and artillery than the fucking iron warriors . They’ve only been depicted in one short and that’s helsreach
3 bits of detail set this apart for me: the human movements of the Kriegsmarines in chapel reflecting the humanity still present in these clones. The muster taking place in segments without all the guardsmen marching in perfect order to the elevator making the Kriegsmarines feel more like persons than automatons. The slight rocking on his heels and subtle motions of the traffic controller directing those, I think, Basilisks. This has Astartes level attention to detail and I am very excited to see the next chapter!
Not clones really tho they theories they use Dan from the loyalist colonel during the civil, the other half of the dna allows them to be slightly different

I’m going to be honest. My perception of Krieg was that of a nuked out husk of surface. I did not expect this. The scale. That marching. I feel like an ant, insignificant, disposable. I love it
Oh yeah the scale is insane they produce so many troops they cant even keep up with natural reproduction they use clone vats to supliment XD kreigers have to be the most dehuminized army in the imperium
4:00 I see the scout force is ready. Jokes aside, another astounding animation capturing in 5 minutes what GW seems incapable of doing across series. Edit: Just a guess here, but it seems like we're seeing 48 divisions when we get to that wide-angle shot. Assuming each division is made of 4-6 regiments (by average count) and each regiment constitutes approx 3-5 thousand guardsmen (from count, not any lore). So, by that, we're seeing something along the lines of 1.4 million Guardsmen waiting for transport.
You raise a fair point, @Alpha0atom, but hounding creators is not my intent and I'm sorry that was not clear. The artists who actually put passion and work behind what they produce are who I feel are being given the short straw by everything here. That is what I mean by "GW bad" and what I think most people do. A lot of games and entertainment companies these days produce fantastic products ruined by pressure from above (ie game publishers) and it shows. The fact is that most of what GW does produce *is* bad, and that seems to be a community consensus - but that is not the fault of the content creators and I never meant to imply that it was.
Agreed…GW is a game company (and they fail at that frequently) not a content creation company…their animations are generally poor quality…exodite looks good but that’s about Tau…so win/lose
@@jimmyjims9548 I would call them a miniatures company, their game is just a vehicle to sell more mini's. A well balanced game that required no updates wouldn't sell nearly as many models as often as a game that constantly has changes to the meta with obvious "best units" that get sold en mass. In that respect GW's games are perfect for selling mini's, but bad for playing with.
@@jimmyjims9548 the exodite wasn't even theirs originally, at least that's what I heard. From my understanding it was another fan animation they acquired
@@thomastheawesome4822 None of Warhammer+ is iirc. And they still fuck it up. At a certain point, there's just simply a leadership problem at a company. A few key players at the top that suck at their jobs and ruin their organization for everyone invested into it.
One of the first times the scale is done right. 40k writers have the crippling issue of rounding things down by one or two zeroes for every book. Like, yes, the ammount of men defending the eterninty wall spaceport is... 3000 dudes. Like, no. 30,000 at minimum, and 300,000 is more reasonable.
Yea. I love videos that flesh out the scale. It’s one thing to hear about some forge world making millions of tanks and soldiers and another to see the logistics of those products shipping out
There's a Million worlds in the Imperium. Even if we say 2k of those are Forge Worlds or Chapter Homeworlds (and thus immune to the Tithe), that's 998,000 different worlds. If any of those are Hive Worlds, those might have a population of 10 billion per. If each one of those must tithe, say 1% of their population every 10 years? That's a *lot* of people.
3:06 I just noticed that not all of them are the same height. Just a small detail, but it not only means that it's lore accurate, I think, but it also shows the dedication of the animator. Big props to you, can't wait to see more.
Oh damn, I missed that completely, but you right. Something so small most would not notice, but as you said it just proves how much the creator cares about this as a project. (Its also probably the reason it’s not a full angle shot that includes their lower legs/feet as the easiest and best way to achieve this is through just shortening there legs/pushing them into the ground a bit . Not a problem mind you, just something I thought of)
I noticed that as well. I thought they were all born from cloning technology though, so wouldn't it make sense for them to all be the same height? Not trying to nitpick, since I genuinely don't know. I just love this video so much.
@@tylerpoppele4558 they aren’t just cloning 1 person tho right (I don’t really know cause I have never read up on it), cause if the cloning process is on that big of a scale it is probably taken from a bigger gene pool right? Cause that’s at least the logic my brain follows.

@@tylerpoppele4558 That sound pretty plausible (in context that is, few thing are plausible/sense-making in 40k). I don’t know that much deeper lore about the death corps even though it was kinda the proper “gateway drug” into 40k for me.
Dude, you know about cinematography this isn’t just fansevice. This is a genuenly fucking good short film. Congratulations! (Edit: watching this scale makes you put things into perspective, all of this that we’re watching is what happens when a vindicare fumbles the shot. This is the imperium.)
I can imagine krieg as a larger more organised version of muster but this similar scene would happen all around the imperium, whole regiments walking into transit landing craft and they'll never see their home world again. This is the imperium indeed.
Not to say other planets don't muster, but none do it like Kreig, a planet now used almost only to produce legions of nigh suicidal soldiers with only the determination to die for the Emperor or die trying.
@@saintpres4ge533 there are planets that can and do muster forces on this scale. Cadia was a prime example; Armageddon is another. They are rare, but they exist.

Oh, they seen this... And to be fair there has been enough talk about GW Legal Department over the past few months for the creators to know what they are going to receive. Vraks is a huge story, let us hope we see this through to the end.
Yeah, the care and thought put into making it realistic stands out. Not just the different heights, but that their bedrolls are different, they aren't standing in perfect rows, they don't swing their arms in perfect unison, the tanks aren't exactly lined up, and they need a dude directing traffic. Spending the extra time to make the details real definitely paid off.

First things first, this animation is brilliant, perfectly captures the 40k setting and manages to give the korps both their cold and serious tone as well as a warm and human side, when we see them praying. Ships and scenery are great and the sound is perfect. A tiny thing i noticed that you might have considered while animating: That bit at the start where we see several kriegsmen walking down an corridor, the way they are holding their guns pointing to their side feels a bit iffy. I think they would likely carrythem pointing either upwards or downwards. As extremely disciplined soldiers of the emperor they would know that carrying them in such a way in that situation is somewhat dangerous. I am no military or gun expert but that jumped out at me a bit.
What I love about this video is the slow increase in scale, from the individual trooper to the company, etc., showing how immense the scale of war conducted by the Imperium of Man is, and no matter how small and insignificant a person might be they all contribute to a larger cause.
I love the small details that's in the video. The soldiers are praying in different way , their heights are different, some of the tanks are releasing black exhaust, the shuttles landing gear retracts almost flush, some of the propulsion is angled for launch
I know we're all thinking it but I love the star wars style massive army assembly while loading into ships. This is how one planet can provide regiments of guardsmen for armies on a galactic scale, very well done!
The expansion of a single unit, a Krieg soldier, to his squad/platoon, his regiment, his battallion and finally the Army group. Combining with other army groups.
Absolutely love the subtle mechanical clicking through it, ticking down the doomsday clock.. I imagine it would be what a Kriegsman’s simple standard issue wristwatch would sound like ticking the time until they send you up and over the trench..
There are three animations I show newcomers to really understand Warhammer 40k. One is 'Astartes'. Another is the 'Space Marine 2' trailer. The last is this video. This video encapsulates the sheer scale of the Death Korps and the Imperial Guard as a whole. Sure, there's probably only 500k to 1 mil soldiers at 2:32, but that's already as many (or more) soldiers that are Active Duty in the U.S. Army today. And this is only one landing zone. There are probably several like this. This is also not counting all of the forces already in orbit or just how many times Krieg has made a force of this size compared to us in the same amount of time. Worse yet is that this is just one planet out of a million. That is the scale new viewers are getting into.
Cool . Nice to see Krieg has recovered a bit from nuclear bombardment. That atmosphere looks breathable without respirators. The underground facilities are massive as they should be. The shot from trooper to company to regiment to armada was great. Gives a good perspective on how massive this deployment is.
When I saw the surface of Krieg for the first time.... I was like, that doesn't look that bleak. Then i saw the whole skyline, and went... Shit, they really did nuke their planet into a snowball of radioactive hell. This is absolutely amazing, I can't wait for more!
@@mortarion9813 The uniforms of Krieg guardsmen are also inspired/modeled after the uniforms of German soldiers of the 1st world war (or as we say: "der erste Weltkrieg"). They were quite hardcore as well. I remember reading a journal of a French soldier describing German soldiers building trenches: "We could shell them with artillery, we could shoot them, but they just kept shoveling their trenchline. If we killed maybe 6 a day, next day 7 more would be shoveling. Truly a frightening sight, if the Germans had one thing it was determination." Quite interesting how GW incorporated this in 40k.
You know what I love? The depiction of real space as this empty, black void. There's something so isolating about that imagery. Juxtaposed against the neon hellscape of the warp, it really just blows me away.
Seeing of those men of krieg ready themselves for what everyone thought would be an easy conflict makes me appreciate one thing in particular. This is the first wave
It's so good to see these fan animations again. This piece captures the scale of military operations in 40k. Also I find the stark and mechanical way Kreig is portrayed awe inspiring and terrifying. Really has "Triumph of the will" vibes. Scary stuff👍🏽
Yeah, everyone's saying Dune and Attack of the Clones, but I definitely was getting Triumph vibes. Besides, that film influenced the above mentioned. And many others....
This was fantastic! Massive shoutout to Legio Symphonica for actually leading me here. I loved this. There was a great sense of scale to this that other animations failed to accomplish, and the sound design was fantastic. I'm incredibly excited to be here for this!
It was just amazing. It was very reminiscent of the loading scene of the clone army from the second episode of Star Wars, only much larger and more beautiful.
Honestly this is really impressive especially with how massive everything is each "camera shot" is amazing and really gives a perspective on not just the Death Korp but the Warhanmer universe as a whole. Great fucking job, I can't wait to see what's next
I am still blown away by the attention to detail in the prayer hall. By having each and every guardsman pray in a different way to the emperor shows how much their religion means to them. This isn't just a "commissar says I need to attend mandatory chapel" kind of thing; every single one of them has a deep, spiritual connection to the Emperor in their own way.
Another cool detail about the cinematography in this video is that the scale always continued to increase in scope and never shrunk. It started off with a single guardsman, then the hallway with a few guardsmen, then into the elevator with his company, then out into the concourse with the battalion, then out into the mustering grounds with the regiment, then the massive ship that would house the troops during warp travel, then that ship is shown entirely dwarfed by the planet below as it leaves atmosphere to show the massive fleet carrying equally as many troops and hardware for the eventual Siege of Vraks. It masterfully captures the scale and magnitude of the Imperial war machine.
By God, words cannot express! Its EXACTLY what I imagined Krieg to look like, and captures the essence of 40k to the tee. You've created something legendary that fans will remember even after you're dead.

Assuming each division is made of 4-6 regiments (by average count) and each regiment constitutes approx 3-5 thousand guardsmen (from count, not any lore). So, by that, we're seeing something along the lines of 1.4 million Guardsmen waiting for transport.
Sounds about right, the total number of Krieg sent to Vraks was over 3 million I believe
You do know you’re bashing the former content creators that GW just employed to make videos for them right
Just saying since you’re keen on saying GW content is shit, but the people making those content were the ones taken by GW,
Oh and when GW takes this guys content , you still gonna say GW MAKES SHIT ANIMATIONS even though he’s still the creator
This is exactly why GW needs to leave fan animation in the hands of the fans! The scale and quality here is insane.
Agreed…GW is a game company (and they fail at that frequently) not a content creation company…their animations are generally poor quality…exodite looks good but that’s about Tau…so win/lose

Gives context for how massive the Astra Militarum is...

Oh my god! The Attack of the Clones style boarding scene is absolutely genius, I saw it immediately. Beautiful.

Holy shit it's happening, I almost lost hope!
