Yes, definitely similarities indeed
Ray was one of the few genuine working class bloke characters that working class men in northern England could relate too unlike the many caricatures in coronation street that have stereotyped us. A tragic loss, and the one character who could trade insults with Blanche and come out on top.
I have many fond memories of him in Corrie as a kid ' he was a good husband to Deirdre ' just like Ken subsquently came to be ' and very protective ' espc the time when she was attacked under the viaduct ' he went out looking for the bloke to sort him out ' I 'm just glad his family came to forgive and accept him back eventually before he sadly passed in his old local.
I remember doing a late shift at hospital when Ray came back. I was a student nurse. I'd made a shedload of toast for the patients. One of the said "it's Ray Langton "! And the toast went flying!🤣
Tracy give ray cpr and give mouth to mouth rise up his chin check his breathing or not hold his nose blow serval times if he is not breathing he will die I feel sorry for Tracy she is crying for ray all Tracy love
Ray adored Deirdre and Tracy. It wasn't until Deirdre was sexually assaulted one night and couldn't get past it (as most women can't) she wouldn't let Ray touch her, Ray looked elsewhere and had an affair with a waitress.
I forgotten about the affair with the waitress ' I recall her being attacked under the nearby viaduct ' Ray went looking for the thug ' would have given him a good sorting if he'd caught him ' some reckon it was Billy Walker who was there at the time ' but who knows.

So many of the cast are no longer with us and the show is a shadow of its former self,
Ray Langton's death is quite similar to that of Martha Longhurst. Those of you who know your Corrie history will know what I mean.

I just noticed, the death scene is very similar to Martha Longhurst's in 1964.
This scene was a reminiscence of Martha Longhurst’s death in The Rover’s Return.
