I guess the moral of this comment is just say a band or artist isn't for you, you don't need to rip it out of them using easy stereotypes.
First off: as a clinical psychology major, popularity does not equal substance. It usually points toward a social heuristic or over generalization in part of the Masses. Basically these guys have a really good PR department and thats why they are popular. They write meaningless songs directed at the most vulnerable audience, preteens and teens, so that they feel like they have someone to be different with, which is blatant manipulation, and nothing more than establishing a brand. Now onto the music: when compared with bands of a similar sonic corner of the music world, Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, and Animals as Leaders, even original scene hardcore bands like Greeley Estates, the song writing is just flaccid and the music is even more boring and dull. A veil of maya album is like a fast paced journey of rage and introspection, owning up to their name, Veil of Maya (i.e a hindu idea of the world as an illusion), born of osiris is like a technical journey through spiritual pathways, just listen to the discovery album and the interludes that link it together to understand this, and Animals as Leaders is a completely instrumental journey that feels like you are fucking astral projecting through time and space. Whilst when listening to asking alexandria you are just sitting there listening to a subpar angsty song that means nothing. Do you understand now, or must I go on? Because as a musician, I feel the need to make sure that you understand why these guys make me feel ashamed every time I hear them.

Jacob Craft What you guys don't understand is that there are only a certain number of frets on a guitar so the coincidence that similar riffs occur in multiple songs is quite likely. Of course you wouldn't understand this cuz you don't play guitar. I could explain stuff to you like scales and what not but it wouldn't help any. Also its not "ripping off" anything unless they use the exact same riff which they don't. Music is music and it's different for everyone one so yeah even if these bands were trying to have a riff that sounded like another song it's because maybe they really like it and it inspired them but they didn't steal it they simply re interpreted the music to their own views probably based on the way it inspired them.

I do, I've been taking classes for years and I have to say the riffs are pretty damn similar, as the chance AA have heard Unholy Confessions before is pretty good. Yeah, sure there's a chance that they just happened to come up with a guitar riff that is almost the same, but I think it's low. At least a lot lower than you make it out to be.
Ive nvr heard of these guys before and one night i went to a place to drink called Ground Zero in spartanburg s.c. they were playing and how the crownd knew when to jump and wave and whatever blew my mind. Booze and pot helped my mood towards the band but been a fan ever since.
Yea can't lie but i actually like The Black and Let It Sleep i thought they were pretty good songs, but Danny is like 100x better in my opinion. My favorite AA album is Reckless & Relentless that album pretty much made me love metalcore music and favorite song off that album is Morte Et Dabo :P

Jacob Craft What you guys don't understand is that there are only a certain number of frets on a guitar so the coincidence that similar riffs occur in multiple songs is quite likely. Of course you wouldn't understand this cuz you don't play guitar. I could explain stuff to you like scales and what not but it wouldn't help any. Also its not "ripping off" anything unless they use the exact same riff which they don't. Music is music and it's different for everyone one so yeah even if these bands were trying to have a riff that sounded like another song it's because maybe they really like it and it inspired them but they didn't steal it they simply re interpreted the music to their own views probably based on the way it inspired them.

Why are you assuming we don't play guitar? I do, I've been taking classes for years and I have to say the riffs are pretty damn similar, as the chance AA have heard Unholy Confessions before is pretty good. Yeah, sure there's a chance that they just happened to come up with a guitar riff that is almost the same, but I think it's low. At least a lot lower than you make it out to be.
Ive nvr heard of these guys before and one night i went to a place to drink called Ground Zero in spartanburg s.c. they were playing and how the crownd knew when to jump and wave and whatever blew my mind. Booze and pot helped my mood towards the band but been a fan ever since.

I liked Denis but danny is my favorite he has been a huge person in my life.
Yea can't lie but i actually like The Black and Let It Sleep i thought they were pretty good songs, but Danny is like 100x better in my opinion. My favorite AA album is Reckless & Relentless that album pretty much made me love metalcore music and favorite song off that album is Morte Et Dabo :P
His screams were such a big part of metalcore, but imagine if he had taken classes and cared more for how he did the screams.. He wouldn't have blown out his throat at such a young age and we could still hear these songs live 😢
