This song gave me an idea for a d&d character. Traumatized youth turns to fallen cleric who promises the ability to return those he loves from death. After years of dedicated training as a cleric and developing a decent level of skill ( lvl15)he finds out that theres no way to return his family to life. He suffers a massive psychological break. He loses his faith, his connection to his deity, and almost his humanity, before discovering necromancy.
@@travis9841 here's what I have storyboarded: The fallen cleric was in service of Helm or Lathander or at least Eldath. I would have the hero gain the favor of the deity for the acts of service he does under the tutelage of the fallen cleric, but the favor he gains is not enough to bring his family back for some reason or the god instructs him to let his family go. The hero is not willing to do this, and the fallen cleric suggests a "holy ritual" that any warlock or sorcerer in the party would see through with a moderate DC as a necromantic rite. The cleric, still in favor of his deity, gathers the items to perform the ritual dutifully, and then the fallen cleric guides him through the ritual. Halfway through, the hero discovers the true purpose of the ritual is to prolong the fallen cleric's life or something... haven't figured out something compelling enough yet. The hero loses favor with his deity, his powers and abilities and the choice he has is to either accept a fallen clerical existence (possibly with no way to become a cleric again because the ritual tried to curse a god or something)or pursue other avenues which leads to necromancy
This is the perfect music for painting my new Necron army! Thank you for an incredible song with driving energy and a haunting pulse of fun, dark energy.
I had a story idea loosely inspired by this song (mostly the "We'll be the risen champions // Back again from the dead" lines), so for anyone interested. The main character is a brilliant necromancer (either "good" necromancer who defiles the dead but doesn't actually harm anyone, or possibly evil but still choosing to save the world; I'm leaning towards the former, so a chaotic good necromancer) who discovers a looming threat to the world somehow or other (possibly related to being a necromancer, possibly not; doesn't really matter), and realizes that the world is not prepared. They need a hero and they don't have one. Obviously, attempts to warn people don't work when you're a wanted criminal and your only evidence is magic rituals of your own design, unverifiable because there's nobody in the world who could understand them (and if they could, they'd probably be an equally untrustworthy necromancer). So they design a solution. True resurrection of heroes past. Normally, you can't truly resurrect someone long dead (the necromancy just utilizes the remnants of the "soul body" or whatever, the interface between body and soul which contains some power and thus lets you animate undead worth more than what it took to animate them), but the same is not true for heroes and other legendary figures whose souls remain tethered to the world (in the Hall of Champions or something), either by the collective wills of people or by some higher entity (leaning towards the former, but again not really important). In order to do so, however, they need to retrieve bodies and relics and whatever else they can of those heroes. Furthermore, the ritual needs an absurd amount of power. I like the idea that they're chaotic good, and as they go on they realizes that they'll need to kill thousands to perform the ritual, and has to choose to go on anyway because otherwise the world's fucked. Story ends with necromancer dying, killed either by the summoned heroes or as fuel/conduit for his ritual.
Yaksher Hmm, fair enough, but what if the heroes kill the necromancer, and then have no idea why they’ve been resurrected? So they have to find out why they’ve been brought back? Maybe the necromancer’s story is like a flashback explaining to the heroes why they’re back from the dead?
Resurrection is one of my personal favorites from HATM. It reminds me so much of songs like Darkness Before The Dawn, Rock The World, Writing on the Walls, Who's Going to Stop Me Now?, & all those "cheesy" sort of electro, house, & pop-ish songs. Three Alliance Heroes (the players) facing the same godly enemy before the Ruby Throne, that each of them try to claim for their faction, and that enemy is the Daedric Prince of Domination, the God of Schemes, where he enslaves all mortals and immortals he can grasps. Almost all the mortals that bound to him are either they voluntarily submit or the dead been resurrected and become mindless thralls. Most of his minions are masters of necromancy. He's also the father of vampires since the 'blood' originally came from him. His realm, Coldharbour, is reek with decaying bodies and rotting flesh, which also shaped as a form of imitation to Nirn (the mortal planet), but already touched by his delights and desires. With a little help of his dedicated mortals, he's able to gain access to Nirn and aiming to merge and turn it into his own domain. which the three heroes, try to prevent. Keep on the creation, Avi.

Within our graves forsaken
Let rot the spirits left behind
Our hollow minds
We've seen the edge of chaos
Been to the bottom, felt the flame
Of endless pain
Let loose your inhibitions
Channel your innermost desire
Revive this hell and all its fire
Bring forth a revolution
With hordes of followers beside
We'll never die
