Love your videos! I’m puertorrican and I usually “stir-fry” some pieces of boneless thick cut pork chops.Once they are done, I take them out, continue with what you were doing and then re-add them when you add the rice…SOOO GOOODDDDDD!!!!!
One of the first things I usually do for arroz con gandules is start with diced ham, onion & garlic in my pot. I sauté that until it looks good and then do the sofrito and everything you did. I think you did great !!! It definitely looked great! So many people make it differently. Since I’m Puerto Rican and my mom cooks so much I have also learned how to make my own sofrito. I think I’m going to make a video on it soon. I feel that the fresh homemade sofrito taste a little better than the goya jar. I think you did awesome for your first time.

Gosh I live in Tampa, I’m originally from NYC and I didn’t know that there are a lot of Puerto Ricans in Orlando. I miss having some great authentic Puerto Rican food that I didn’t have to cook 😂 omg, I need some Disney passes, it must be awesome to go all the time!! Since I’m in Tampa it would be a little drive for me but so many people here do the pass-holder stuff too !
hi Ale, watching you this morning before I go to work. That food you made at home looked amazing. When I went to Epcot we got food as you go, but as you say it's the experience you go to for a restaurant like that. love to your family, and you are a fabulous mum to the boys. xxx
For the arroz con gandules you need fresh sofrito, have his family make a fresh batch. The Chef Piñeiro's sofrito is very good, better than other well know brands. Also, add jamón de cocinar for a much better flavor, you can cook it down along with the sofrito. And always rinse the rice! 🇵🇷❤
Are there not school bus’s there? I rode the bus from kinder on. You should consider it if it’s available, that would make a difference in your day! Your son would love hanging with his friends!
Thanks for sharing your Disney adventures. I would LOVE to live in Orlando…and be able to go for a day just for lunch. We went in end of Oct-into 1st week in Nov. we planned for MONTHS to try to get in everything. We did get to experience most everything we wanted. But now I can enjoy Disney when y’all go❣️
I totally understand the mom guilt, but it's totally fine to have balance! I am sure they love having the playtime and you are having time for yourself right nearby. It isn't all day and it isn't everyday- you are a wonderful mom!
Your rice looked great! I’m Puerto Rican… I’d recommend adding a tiny bit of cumin and oregano. That gives it a really nice flavor! Whatever measurements work best for you is how much you add in. We don’t ever measure! LOL

So for the tomato sauce in the gandules, I usually get the goya brand tomato sauce, it has some more seasoning and better flavor.
