I'm kinda shocked Normani's lowest note is just a C#3 (which was really airy and inaudible). But I kinda feel stupid right now, cuz I thought she was the only one in the group who could give Lauren a run for her money with the lowest note lol Even more shocked that Camz and Dinah could go that low, even lower than Mani. Even Ally went really low for her type of voice. Wasn't expecting that at all. On the contrary, she's the only one who showed us access to the 7th octave.
in the group normani was the only one who could give lauren a run for her money with low notes. the videos with camila and dinah hitting lower notes than normani is after the group. which shows they improved. we still have yet to see if normani’s vocal range increased since the group.
@@popaddiction1 I mean, the C#3 from Normani is post 5H, and it wasn't really a live vocal. She usually lets her background vocals finish the sentence whenever she's singing that song live. But yeah, it's already a very low note and she kills them. I just hope we can see a greater improvement when it comes to her belting.
OMG yayyyyy I had no idea this video was coming! I’m glad someone finally did Lauren and Camila’s who’s trustworthy because so many people include squeaks from them. I still really had no idea what not Lauren topped out at so I’m happy we’ve established that it’s B5. Dinah actually has a G6 peak. Someone made a range video for her recently where she’s sustaining an F#6/G6 that I never heard before. I thought I was for sure Normani has a C3 but if I can’t remember where then it’s probably likely she doesn’t. Thanks for the video! I know this had to take a lot of work.❤️
@@popvocalstv really? It sounds so different than the scream right after it to me. Her screams are forceful. That F#6/G6 sounded shaky to me like the rest of her whistles do, but idk. It would be a little more helpful if we could actually see the video that came from.
Let me know if this is right: Normani: G3 - Bb4 Camila: G3 - B4 Dinah: G#3 - C5 Lauren: F3 - C5 Ally: G#3 - D5 - F#5 Their support at their best is something like this, right?
@@MJL-md7jc Camila and Normani are the light lyric sopranos. Ally’s more of a full lyric soprano tho this gets argued because of how she girlied her voice up in the group. Dinah’s spoken up about having to change her voice to sound like a light-lyric in the group. But her natural voice is too heavy to be a light-lyric. She’s either a full lyric or a stunted spinto soprano. Then Lauren was a light lyric soprano but at this point she’s more of a mezzo which isn’t uncommon to happen when some young women mature, but smoking and poor technique got her there faster than most.
@Io’s Ashes Ally is a light-lyric. She just uses a heady mix with a tinge of nasality so her belted notes sound more metallic and womanly than they actually are. And Dinah isn’t a spinto-soprano lol. That is the most incorrect statement I’ve ever heard in my life. A true spinto-soprano is Jennifer Hudson, or Whitney Houston. Dinah’s voice isn’t powerful enough and lacks that metallic quality that a spinto-sopranos have; Dinah’s voice is more smooth, which is a sign that she is either a light-lyric or full-lyric soprano. I would say light-lyric. And Lauren was always a light-lyric soprano. No matter what changes one’s voice undergoes, the main characteristics of the voice(tessitura, timbre)remain. Hence, one’s voice type can’t change after he/she reaches adulthood. Lauren is mistaken for a mezzo-soprano because of her good lower register. In fact, she isn’t too comfortable singing there, but because she has the lowest voice out of the five, she was made to sing all of the low parts
@@varunravi27 I know some say she was a spinto but I’m pretty sure Whitney was a full lyric, at least for most of her career. My explanation was definitely off and it was actually bugging me in the back of my mind but I didn’t think anyone would respond so I just left it lol. But honestly some of them are a little hard to figure out because they got made to sing certain ways in the group, Dinah in particular got made to sing lighter and brighter than natural. I’ve never heard a light lyric whose natural voice is that heavy and it’s gotten even heavier as she’s gotten older (look up her recent Bottled Up/Ego performances with Common Kings). She’s very good at playing with her voice where she can make it sound bright and sweet and then dark and mature without sounding unnatural. I disagree her voice isn’t powerful enough. Her voice was powerful as hell particularly in her mid-teens until again, the group conditioning struck and they had her singing very girly and pop-ish. Some of her power has come back since 5H has been over but most of her solo songs don’t require her to belt except Fix It (where her belts were a little metallic live when she really went off). I can understand her being a full-lyric but light-lyrics just don’t have voices that heavy. Ally’s voice was never terribly youthful sounding to me. Your explanation of her mix does make sense because her upper register always sounded more reminiscent of a light-lyric but she sounds like a full-lyric in her mix. I’m still on the fence but I’d like to see where her voice is headed since she’s nearing 30. If only she would release music that had any actual vocals lol.
