In this video, I show you how to set the clock in a Mercedes SLK 200 R171. I hope this video helps you to perform this needlessly complicated task!

I sympathise with the folks who say they haven’t got a time/date menu, I was convinced it wasn’t there till I stumbled on it by accidentally as it’s well hidden as a submenu. So I did all the changes. Nothing much happened because the ‘R’ button was a complete mystery to me. Watching this was a revelation, like somebody explaining how a magic trick works. Who wrote the manual? I thought the Germans were supposed to be thorough and precise? Anyway, my thanks to the uploader for the patience to put this together for the enlightenment of many/most SLK owners.
It seems the people with the COMMAND system have a different way of setting the clock. It's needlessly complicated.

Very helpful. I finally found this once I sold my car. Wish I had looked into it much sooner. Cool, and worked like a charm, I set the clock for the new owner. The online owner manual makes this much harder figure out.thank you so much.

Thanks for this video. Invaluable in resetting the clock/date in my 2010 slk. Learned the principle from this and yes.....was able to travel back and forwards in time 👍🏻

There are a good few things I like about modern electrics, and a good few things I like about mercs. The 2 combined though, not so much.
I know, right?! My other car is a 1984 380SL and on that you just turn the lil knob next to the clock, lol

Bravo! I have owned six SLKs since 2005, and I've never managed to set the clock in one!
The funny thing is, I have to refer back to my own video if I'm ever setting the clock in this car! (It's my mom's car).
These instructions also work for a 2007 SLK 280.

Ross did you know the Command 50 option with Sat Nav sets the clock itself. So you can replace the main car battery and the clock is still set. Looks like this one has the Audio 20.

Well I’m sure they could have made it even more difficult if they really wanted to. Well done my friend. I couldn’t make head or tale of it via the bleddy hand book.
I didn't find the book useful either for doing this. I figured it out for myself, which is what prompted me to make the video.

You're not the first person to ask this question. I'll try and find out and do a video on it. As far as I know, it's just a matter of pressing and holding the R button on the side of the instrument cluster.

Great video how do we set up phone and reset trip meter
I don't know about the phone because the model I made this video in doesn't have the car kit installed. As far as I know, you press the R button on the side of the instrument cluster to reset the trip counter.

Ah I know. The little twiddly thing in the middle of the old clocks worked just fine!

Hi, I have faced a problem after changing car batteries because my SLK recently needed a replacement for it. However, now in the radio COMAND, I'm unable to set the time and I don't seem to have a "Time Synchronisation" option in the Digital Dashboard in the Instrument Cluster. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? It previously displayed the time on the Radio aswell..

How do you connect the phone to the car?
Unfortunately this doesn't work if your car has a Comand system fitted, I still can't fathom out how to set the date though.
The on board screen, if I play my music it doesn’t stay on that screen, can you help?

Most probable cause is the connector under the driver's seat, but normally fixing that issue is a job for a mechanic.

Yes it was a damaged cable under the passenger seat (45 minutes mechanical work) my red srs light finally disappeared. However when I come back home my remote central key won’t close the car 😅😅 I believe because we removed the battery ?. Any guidance will be appreciated

What does the plus and minus buttons do? I mean the + and - buttons that are near the R button, not the ones from the wheel

I don't think you can on this car. If I do find a way to do it I'll make another video. It's not my car though so I don't get too many opportunities to play with it.

This is really good but my clock setting aren’t coming 😕. I only get veichle, and so. All the options except the time and date 🙁

Strangely, my 2012 slk 350 does not have "clock" in the dash computer menu--anywhere. I'm lost.
I think on some cars it's set through the radio menu.

It's not my car so I don't always have access to it. If I do again, I'll try and find one, although I'm not sure it has one.
You could also set it on the radio it will set the clock on the dash to☺️
I think that only works with certain stereos.

@@Endfloat I’ve replaced the radio with a pioneer unit so I might be stuck on summer time forever! Oh well, it’ll be correct half the year...
But that won't work for an SLK350 with Comand.

"Oar" button is not same as "R" button
It's called an accent. There are different ones.
