Hey bro, Yamaha do a product called combustion chamber cleaner. it makes cleaning the intake really easy, although do NOT get it on any seals.
    Thanks for a great video

    Hi there Cruisin time,
Next time you do a valve adjust, adjust the cross head first as it is important to have it opening the valves at the same time. I put down ward pressure on the cross head and move adjuster instil it JUST moves off the valve then lock it up. Carry out the rocker adjust after that. Toyota complicate an easy process.

Hi Humpy, you are right, the Toyota procedure is a bit longer and you can do it faster with your method. I wanted to follow Toyota procedure for now just to show people the correct way, thank for the advice 👍🏻

Always adjust the bridge first until you feel contact with the valve stem....then rocker adjustment, the clearance looked a little tight in the video n will only get tighter as the valve seal area wears

The other big tip is remove the black cover before removing injection pipes 10x easier
It so much easier to do valves with injectors out as well to turn engine to top dead.
I'd replace them or rebuild if your that far anyway

I agree Darren, I know for next time now 😂.
To be honest it was a very straight forward job and I wouldn’t have any concerns doing it again. I strongly believe Toyotas are one of the easiest vehicles to service/repair.

Hi mate, Nice instructional & easy to follow. Why didn't you open & clean any of the crossover's internals when you had them off? I am guessing as they were clean inside when you inspected?

G'day mate, was having some camera dramas when cleaning that particular pipe and couldn't get the footage back, I can confirm it was definitely cleaned =). It was no where near as clogged as the manifold however. Glad the video could help you out, cheers!!

How’s it going mate? Great video...! One quick question if valve shim clearances haven’t been done in a while would that affect the starting of the engine? I have a hzj79

Thanks for the support mate 😆
It could certainly make it more difficult to start if the clearances are out, would mostly depend on how much work the motor has done, higher km would see more issues I would imagine. Hope this helps!

This sounds like glow plug problem for the hzj

HPD catchcan looks pretty, useless without a filter,l used stainless steel wool, helps catch the oil in vapour better

ive read on the forums that the 1hdfte dose not need a catch can..i believe berrima diesel suggests this also..

    • @cruisintime2323

Hi mate, I’ve done roughly 5000km since installing and it is definitely working. I’ll be removing the crossover pipe in 6 months time and re-inspecting for any further soot build up, guess I’ll know for sure then 😆
