  • Apologies for the delay in this update due to feeling unwell of late. Started with a sore throat and turned into a chest infection.
Cannot stop coughing so no commentary. Hurray I hear you shout.
I attended on the Sunday and I was initially disappointed when I first got there, I honestly thought 2021 was busier and that they had a major display when this one did not.
When I got home I watched last years and it goes to show how your mind plays tricks. This years was much busier and there were no huge layouts at either, I think I am getting my Ally Pally and TINGS mixed up. So in effect this was a very good show and fingers crossed will now get better.
The layouts in themselves are absolutely fantastic as I hope you can see shown by the detail and effort put into them. You would not think they were N Gauge.
I was disappointed by the stalls, again nothing on my list but I did purchase a Schools Class loco from Dapol. I also purchased a box of track at what I thought was a very good price only to find out I could have got it for £15 cheaper from Hattons online. Only thing on my list I didn't have a price for. I thought the idea of shows was to pick up bargains, I wont get caught like that again I hope.
So I hope you enjoy my meagre attempt at showing TINGS 2022. In the end a very enjoyable show just for the layouts alone.

Looks like you saw some wonderful N gauge layouts Chris! I must get myself along to one of these shows one day, although maybe my bank manager would disagree!! Hope you're feeling better now! All the best, Ian.

Hi Mike - Thankyou for the thankyou lol. Must admit Vale of Oxbury totally blew me away.
Gave me so many ideas and also what I should be concentrating on when I do the scenics along with a number of others, yours included.
Its such a simple layout, not overcrowded and pleasing to the eye. Realistic in my books.
It was up for sale when I looked at it. I love the beginning sequence with the woods, such realism and he said all the trees are made from brass kits.
      Regards Chris

Hi Chris hope you are well. Can I just ask you if it’s ok to borrow a few seconds of your vale of Oxbury footage in my much belated layout update please? I can reference your video in a link on the TH-cam content if you like and mention you in the comments. Thanks mike

Those are some great layouts, thanks for showing them ! 27:10 is a good reminder for me I'm looking at N-gauge, what a detail in 1:160.
As for show bargains, the other week I came across some unused bits and pieces that were a must buy at the time. Time beeing some 35 years ago at an ally pally show ....

Hi Leo - Glad you enjoyed my update. Always a good show is TINGS, fantastic layouts and lots of places to make purchases from.
I recently went to TINGS 2023 which I loved, layouts were brilliant but it was shopping I wanted to do this time for a change and I purchased lots, nothing expensive but things I wanted for my layout.
I went to Warley and Ally Pally end of last year and although I enjoyed them I will only be going to TINGS in future. The other two shows are really for 00 gauge, hardly any N Gauge stuff for sale apart from a number of excellent N Gauge layouts.
Now at TINGS its lovely going to a any stall and not having to search for the N Gauge stuff as it is all N Gauge including every layout on display.
      Regards Chris

Hi John - Yes it was a really good day out, the layouts made the day great. So much detail and you get a lot of ideas from the displays.
Glad you enjoyed it. Slowly getting over a chect infection but otherwise good, ta.

Hi Chris. I went on the Saturday when there were more people. There were more layouts than last year - presumably because there were still fears of Covid in 2021. I too got some bargains from the Dapol stand; I got two double semaphore signals on a gantry. I think my favourite layout was the Japanese one; it was beautifully detailed and relatively rare!

Hi Paul - Glad you enjoyed the show. I like going on the Sunday as it is easier to video the layout but then I guess I miss out on the bargains.
Maybe next year I will have to give the Saturday a go.
      Regards Chris

Bad luck on the chest infection Chris, I hope that clears up pronto. There were some lovely layouts there. I've been twice to TINGS in 2016 and 2017 and apart from some good layouts I left feeling generally underwhelmed both times. Not really worth the time and effort to travel down from Edinburgh I know you had to make choices this year but I much prefer coming down to Birmingham for both days of the Warley NEC show even though there are fewer N gauge layouts. You're still on for a pint when we can get to meet there. Stephen

    • @Chris-BognorRegis
      @Chris-BognorRegis  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Stephen - Yeah chest infection is a bugger, trouble is with all the coughing it plays merry hell with my back.
Fully understand regards TINGS, I will go next year but on a Saturday to see if there is any difference with the stall holders as I was not all that impressed this year going on a Sunday.
Driving there and back and then on my feet walking around for the whole show and then the drive home is starting to get a tad exhausting now.
If I go to Warley NEC next year for the whole weekend then it will be two pints, one for each day Stephen LOL
      Regards Chris

Hi Chris, looks like you had a reasonable trip mate, although I have seen mixed reviews about the show. Not sure I’d want to make the 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive there to be honest. I hope it improves as it sounds like it used to be ok.
I agree with you about the Oxbury layout, very nice, beautiful detail.
I may go to the NEC to see the Warley show this year, all being well, I’d like to go for the 2 days but can’t make a decision yet as I’m waiting to see if a family event is happening over that weekend.
Hope you’re feeling better, cheers for now mate, John

Hi John - Glad you have had a lovely holiday and looking forwards to a golfing holiday, very nice.
It takes me 90 minutes to get there and likewise back, so in all a 3 hour car drive. Driving there is fine but then being on your feet all day walking around the show and then the drive home is getting to be a tad knackering John. Would not be so bad if you have someone to share the driving with I guess.
I will go next year but next time on a Saturday to see if there is much difference with regard to the stall holders as I was not impressed with them this year.
You have to see Oxbury for real John, truly awesome and it was up for sale.
Love to go to Warley but just cannot afford to, maybe next year and for the whole two days.
Still have the chest infection, worse at nights but I do feel a lot better during the day, ta.
      Regards Chris

Yes, I’ve had this blasted chest infection to, it’s just going thankfully before I go on the golf weekend.
If TINGS were nearer I’d definitely go, it’s GETS this weekend which I would’ve gone to if I hadn’t been going to Portugal as it’s only in Milton Keynes which is only just over an hour away. I’m also hoping the Southend on Sea Model Railway Exhibition is on this year that’s usually quite good and worth going to especially as it’s only 10 mins away.
Hope you feel better soon, cheers Chris, John

Tried asking Oxford diecast but they never answer.
I am building N gauge but am having a devil's own job trying to find 1940's-1955 police cars, such as V8 pilot, Wolesley 6/80 etc. Seen them in OO, but not N. Any ideas anyone?

    • @Chris-BognorRegis
      @Chris-BognorRegis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sorry Brian, sadly that is what we have to put up with modelling in N Gauge. I think the first police car I drove was a Morris Marina.
