Great Vid . Nice to see so many scenery orientated layouts. As a scenery guy myself I really luv these layouts. Well done to the organiser in bringing them in to the exhibition.

Hi Garth, a fine set of layouts and a nice variety. It was also great value at only a fiver. All the best Rick

It’s great to see how intricate some of the exhibition layouts are. It’s interesting to see how the landscape dictates which locomotives are used.

The shouting porter is probably the Station Master rather than a porter!! It’s very similar at the Epping Ongar Railway!!

The Rivarossi LMS coaches at 25:30 were actually made to the older obselete 1:80 scale then used by some makes in Europe rather than the 1:87 that gets the track gauge right and is now almost universally used for HO scale. As such it is closer to OO scale than HO.
Users of 1:80 included European Rivarossi, Fleischman until about 1970, most British Trix and is still in widespread use fir some Japanese prototypes.
Rivarossi using this odd scale around 1978 for their newly tooled parallel boiler Royal Scot and LMS appropriate era coaches upset both the OO and HO camp. Amazing detail and quality in most aspects but the scale issues had them cease production and become heavily discounted from their original high prices.

Ah that makes sense, I have a Trix Trans Pennine unit in that scale that just about looks ok running with 00 models. A bit of an oddity though. Thanks for watching Rick

That lima Mercedes Covered Gondola wagon was a German wagon. It was in the 1985-1989 packaging.

Liked the slate quarry, but in my opinion a lot of these layouts have to much going on. Prefer the simpler and weathered layouts, which I think look more realistic.

Cheers Nick, the slate quarry was brilliant.

The TMDs usually have far to much going on, I worked at Shirebrook West depot and sometimes nobody was about, Then maybe a couple of crews on duty nothing else.

For me, it’s got to be a steam locomotive from the Southern Railway. I mean the type that run during the Second World War. My layout is a heritage version of a Dad’s Army’ layout.

Lots of layouts on display, some often seen, others where new, my favorite was the slate mine.
Since 009 started you see more and more of these slate mines appear.
And I think a lot of people where inspired on the tv series "how the steam train changed the world".
There is a very good section in it where a narrow gauge steam train pulls a empty slate train up a mountain to the slate mine, and once the wagons are loaded, they are launched down hill by gravity.
And people had to sit on the wagons to handle the breaks on each individual wagon.
The man sitting on the first wagon is the brake man, he signals to the people sitting behind him how many people needed to break when the train went to fast, all done without any speed indication, just on puur gut feeling and experience, super dangerous work.
But that is the way the victorians did it, if you would do this now in a factory they would probably lock you up, they already give you the bad eye now if you don't were a fluorescent safety vest🤣
    Nice video again.
    Cheers,
    Danny

As someone looking at starting a layout for the first time it was fantastic display of layouts and the little details that come with the show layouts. The figure diving into the sea and the detail of the slate mine were a joy. It was good to see footage of traders and the prices and stock they carried. It was a good balance of both. Really enjoyed, thanks to the both of you.

    Hi guys, great video again.
Nice little addition to the fleet there too.
I just love how the gentleman took his time to show you some of his models too.
I dabble a bit in z scale too and although it's more than just a niche the range of models is a bit limited and though it looks expensive they obviously have the same developing costs as the bigger models.
But Märklin does stand for quality.
Nowadays with 3D printing you will have more opportunities to get more models, I've seen some good British models on TH-cam too.
I'm hoping to see some Dutch diesels in the future and maybe have a go at building, or try, a bit of the Port of Rotterdam.
Anyway thanks for the video again.
