Let's create the Maker Coin with FreeCAD, CAD Builder or OpenSCAD!

  • In recent weeks there has been a certain amount of bashing of FreeCAD freeware to promote solutions that may be free but are nonetheless proprietary, such as Fusion360, OnShape or student/hobby versions (SolidWorks, SolidEdge, ...).
    Clearly, these proprietary solutions are more aesthetically pleasing and more intuitive. However, some influencers add that the FOSS versions don't allow you to achieve what you want, or that they are extremely time-consuming. That's not fair and that's what we want to demonstrate in this video.
    Everyone is free to choose according to their needs. For me, freedom and independence are the overriding factors.

    I had a look at your scad file. Looks good. I tried adding a fillet (round) and was successful in getting partially added. The round I add is linear and does not follow the curve as is done in the original OS Makers coin.
