After dealing with the top lock cylinder and finishing the whole process just today, I wanted you to know how grateful I am for these kind of videos. Excellent work sir. Thank you.

Congrats and thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you have a working top again, saved some money and have a feeling of accomplishment.

Merci. Very useful information and demonstration I found nowhere else. You have explained r170 and r171. I hope to see sometimes if r172 is the same or different

Hello, I replaced the front cylinder, I replaced the entire assembly, I removed the air from the system. But when the roof closes, the trunk lid starts to lift little by little. And I can't open the trunk. When the roof is retracted, the trunk opens normally.

    Hello,
Is there an option to check the hydraulic system oil level without having to disassemble half the car, as it is with the R170? I'm about to replace my R170 with an R171, and since I had issues with the hydraulic system on the old one, I'm curious if there's an easier way to do it. @TopHydraulics

Unfortunately, you will have to remove a lot of trim and the sound damper around the pump in order to check the fluid level in the R171 pump. As you probably know from your experience with the R170, the pump will start making a slightly different sound when it starts running out of fluid. If you buy an R171 with an operational top, then you will get used to the sound of the pump with proper fluid level and a change in that sound will be your early warning system. Conversely, if you plan on keeping the car for a number of years and you know the cylinders haven't been changed yet, then it might be best to be proactive about replacing the cylinders at a time that is convenient for you...
