Just discovered this great man left us in September 2023. RIP to a singer I have adored all my life Roger Whittaker 22 March 1936 - 13 September 2023😭😭😭
Not many singers make an impression with covers of a song- but Roger Whittaker is close to managing this with many songs. Rest in peace, Roger Whittaker.
So sad to hear about this singers passing. I was in my teens when i listened to his songs on the radio..His voice is amazing..We dont get these ones anymore..RIPP Rodger
It's a somber moment to lose an artist who brought so much joy during our formative years. Roger Whittaker's voice was truly amazing, and his songs, including "Both Sides Now," are timeless. We'll always remember the unique charm he brought to the music scene. Rest in peace, Roger.
Rows and floes of angel hair And ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere Looked at clouds that way But now they only block the sun They rain and they snow on everyone So many things I would have done But clouds got in my way I've looked at clouds from both sides now From up and down and still somehow It's cloud illusions I recall I really don't know clouds at all Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels The dizzy dancing way that you feel As every fairy tale comes real I've looked at love that way But now it's just another show And you leave 'em laughing when you go And if you care, don't let them know Don't give yourself away I've looked at love from both sides now From give and take and still somehow It's love's illusions that I recall I really don't know love I really don't know love at all Tears and fears and feeling proud To say, "I love you, " right out loud Dreams and schemes and circus crowds I've looked at life that way Oh, but now old friends, they're acting strange And they shake their heads and they tell me that I've changed Well, something's lost, but something's gained In living every day I've looked at life from both sides now From win and lose and still somehow It's life's illusions I recall I really don't know life at all It's life's illusions that I recall I really don't know life I really don't know life at all
Roger was a friend of my mother back in the 70s. He was a great guy I remember he brought me a remote control car has a present .he will be sadly missed. he was a legend. And this song he sang better than anyone else.
Roger Whittaker is a gift to the world. Studied for my Navy engineering qualifications listening to his music, great voice and great songs...RIP Roger...
I remember my dad listening to this on record when i was very young. My dad just passed away and i can recall those days when i too could look up at the sky and make shapes out of clouds and now they have lost their magic and just bring rain and blot out the sun. I cry for memories of my dad and for memories of a special childhood that seem so long gone.
You’re right- heard nothing in Melbourne, Australia; there was nothing in our city’s main newspaper or on our television news broadcasts. I remember thinking exactly the same thing at the time- how could his passing be overlooked?!
He sold over 50 million records so all in all, he had a lot of success. But his successful was spread over the world. And he sang in at least 3 different languages that I know of.
The orchestra truly elevates this performance to another level of greatness. It's a touching tribute to Roger Whittaker, and his legacy lives on through beautiful renditions like this. Rest in peace, Roger. 🎶🌟🌹
From the moment you first hear his voice, you are not only stunned by his most gorgeous velvet tones, but also the way in which Roger Whittaker some how manages to enhance a song even further still. P.s a note to the musicians/artists of today, this is how you do it. Back to basics & using your true talent. Lol, what am I thinking, there is no talent anymore. Proper music died long ago 😢 God bless ya & RIP Roger W. Another true legend departs the stage for the final time 😢😪
not true for all of us, MIkael Akerfeldt and me talked about this man a few months back, the day he told me i knew how to play his songs better than him
A very beatiful melodi and arragement, i know Roger after 5 live conserts i sweden, and have plenty of LP album wirh him, my favorite s are live i Canada, and live in Wiennna, he is also funny, when he talk to the aduence, Armand
So sad to hear of rogers passing .a wonderful talent. Prob one of the finest voices of all time . Just pitch perfect and clear like a finely tuned instrument. 😢❤rip roger.
This man and Karen Carpenter. Two humans, one for each gender, with the most amazing, velvety, perfect voices. I’ve always thought of them as so similar. Both sang (at least somewhat similar) style of music Both sang in low register. Both voices were smooth as butter, soft as velvet, sooo easy on the ears, almost angelic Very similar vocal quality How amazing do you think a duet could have been between those two? And can we acknowledge what a beautiful SPEAKING voice this man has? My God. Not just because he has an “accent” but he has one of the most BEAUTIFUL accents I’ve ever heard, and his quality is just as velvety as it is when he sings.
It's wonderful to hear that Roger Whittaker's version of 'Both Sides Now' had a special place in your heart and that you found it even better than the original. His heartwarming voice truly left a lasting impression. 😢👋
Tears in my eyes. That beautiful sound of Roger. All there was rest in his voice. A kind of silence. As a little boy I admired his voice. Thank you for all
Amen to that! Roger Whittaker's performance of "Both Sides Now" is truly divine. The beauty of the song coupled with his incredible talent creates a moment of musical perfection. God bless him indeed. 🌈🎤
Roger Whittaker's interpretation of 'Both Sides Now' is truly exceptional. His talent and soulful delivery make it the ultimate rendition of this classic song.
No doubt about it! Roger Whittaker's "Both Sides Now" is a celestial experience. His one-of-a-kind voice is a true blessing, and I can imagine the angels themselves halting to appreciate his extraordinary talent. ❤️🙏
We love you, Roger. Though you've left us, your beautiful voice, your wonderful song selections and your magical interpretations will last forever ! Your presence is greatly missed !

love him,,, always been a fan, saw him in Germany when in the forces, got invited back stage to meet him as we were musicians, had a great chat. may years later saw him again in Hereford where he was doing a charity concert, he remembered when i saw him last,,,, a wonderful voice for a wonderful guy,,,,,,
I don't know who Roger is as a person but when he sings this song right here I just want to Hug Him! He makes me so happy... His voice, his inflections.
A truly great song indeed. May Roger Whittaker rest in peace. "Both Sides Now" will forever be a poignant reminder of his incredible talent and the emotions he stirred through his music. 🕊️🎤
Absolutely spot on! Roger Whittaker's singing tone in "Both Sides Now" is undeniably rich and powerful. His artistry and emotional depth shine through, creating a musical experience that remains etched in the heart and mind.
I've loved his music during my very young life aswell - between 6 and 12. My late father Jon was a great fan of his and had his album "New World in the Morning". I've got that album again on CD - and was amazed to see Roger looked quite uncannily like Jon (or vice versa) on that cover; could almost say Jon was Roger's doppelganger. Like Roger, Jon was a gentle soul and whistled a lot (though not in Roger's "flute" style!)
I'm lucky to still have my mum and dad around brought up listening to this guy and loads of others . I don't know how I'm going to cope when my parents are no longer here. I'm a person who hides my emotions well and very hard to read. No one can ever read how I feel. Great memories of my childhood. Will be wreck when my parents are no longer around and will have to cope with it all on my own as trusting people is very hard with me. Unfortunately I've trusted people and all they've done is let me down very few have my trust nowadays
The song becomes even more beautiful and meaningful the way he sings! What a performance and WOW!! It's live.. How many can actually sing LIVE like this? so many emotions and... just wonderful!
What a performance indeed! Roger Whittaker's live rendition of "Both Sides Now" is breathtaking. His ability to infuse the song with so much emotion is a testament to his exceptional vocal talent. Just wonderful!
Roger Whittaker's voice is a rare gem, and it truly shines in his version of 'Both Sides Now.' It's a soothing, cuddly experience that's hard not to adore. 🥰🎶
I was living in Atlanta when Roger came there for his first ever performance in the US. I had heard a couple of his songs and was a fan already. He blew the socks off the crowd. What a great talent.
"Both Sides Now" by Roger Whittaker is a true masterpiece, and his rendition is filled with emotion and beauty. His voice has a way of making every song he sings come to life. What a remarkable talent! 🎶✨
This is a great song sung by a great performer and is one my favorites because it sums up many people's feelings about life and love. Many people only look at one side throughout their lives and never really know life at all. Thanks for posting this great song. .

Indeed, the voices in this performance are simply incredible! Roger Whittaker's rendition of "Both Sides Now" is a showcase of his remarkable vocal talent, and the song itself is a masterpiece. 🎶👏
Went on a venture scout camp in the early 90s. Us boys were fully trenched in the grunge era. Nirvana was at their height, we were too cool for anything else. One of the drivers to our destination was an older gentlemen, I believe he was a train engineer. He put on a greatest hits tape of Roger Whittaker. It was the most terrible thing for us 14, 15 year old boys. But we slowly settled in and opened our ears. After our 3 hour trip, we were all fully converted. Everyone wanted to ride in his car for the trip home, and were fighting for the tape if we weren't. Have been a huge fan ever since.
I love your story!! It's amazing how listening to this type of music will start to pull on the old heartstrings if u open up to it, even if you are a teenager!!
My dad loved Roger Whittaker I grew up listening to him and I love him to my dad is gone but when I listen I Remember him especially when feel a bit down

Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
Looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and they snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way that you feel
As every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show
And you leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It's love's illusions that I recall
I really don't know love
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say, "I love you, " right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way
Oh, but now old friends, they're acting strange
And they shake their heads and they tell me that I've changed
Well, something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
It's life's illusions that I recall
I really don't know life
I really don't know life at all
Never stop listening to you, amazing voice
How does anyone sing this good ? Its insane how incredible his voice is , and live to! Just mind blowing.
