Those are some crazy hoops to jump through. Total opposite here in Tennessee. Just have to be 18 to buy rifles and shotguns, and 21 to buy pistols. No carry permit required. There is a mandatory federal background check done at time of sale, and if you do happen to have a carry permit, you can skip the background check wait period.
First let me say that your command of the English language is beyond impressive. In addition to that, the topic was most interesting. You both did an excellent job of simply explaining the process. My best to both of you and the People of Russia.
I'm in USA Pennsylvania. 18 to buy rifle or shotgun. 21 for pistols. Permit to carry allows you to carry pistol concealed. Background check and no felony record, domestic crimes or fines. Buying a long arm or pistol requires Background check. Private sales of long arms is legal. Private sales of pistols must be transferred from person to person at a licensed dealer.

Here in Austria gun laws are only Second (third really) only Czechs and Swiss. You can own any kind of Melee weapon as long as its not made to look like "Not a Weapon" and Knuckle Dusters are a No-no.
This made me so much more thankful to be an American gun owner. Here, you have a default right to own a firearm, unless you prove otherwise (felony, or in rare cases mental illness). Whereas in the rest of the world, you have to gun through some pretty ridiculous hoops to earn the right.
Here in Germany I find it better when I hear how things are going in Russia, I'm a sports shooter and I'm on the way to getting my guns, I'm a member of a shooting club. I took my exam at the end of last year, a practical and theoretical part, for a normal For thinking people, the exam isn't a problem. Now I just have to collect my shooting dates to get my first weapon. 12 months shooting 18 entries. Then you can buy a lot of things here. The basic quota is 2 pistols/revolvers, 3 semi-automatic long guns e.g. Ar15 etc. and ten repeating rifles lever action rifles. If you want more, you have to prove that you use it for competitions. What's bad is that we have to buy expensive safes.
@@RoverTheDog1 Magazine limit for pistols is 20 rounds. For semi-automatic rifles with centerfire ammunition 10. There is no magazine limit for rimfire cartridges. My father has a 20 round magazine for his Ruger 14 Mini and had to register it.
As a French we can own up to 15 handguns and semi auto rifle with a capacity of above 1+2 shots. ( Standard is up to 30 rounds magazines, if you want a higher capacity you need a special autorisation) There is no limitation in terms of repeating rifles and shotguns or semi auto 2+1 except if they are in some designated caliber which are .223R/5,56×45, 7,62x39, 5,45x39, 12,7x99 (.50BMG) and 14,5x114. Any weapon in this caliber entering the 15 guns limitation. Curiously the russian 12,7x108 is a free caliber...but I've never seen any rifle in this caliber sold in France ( Same for the 14,5×114)
The problem in Russia is not that you can't own a firearm - you CAN. There's more bureaucracy involved, and you can't own a handgun, but you do have access to very powerful semi-automatic rifles. Problem is - if you use one to defend your life and the lives of your loved ones, you go to prison. Period.
Disgusting regulations... I always imagined people in russia had the right to bear arms... This is really disgusting.. . Thanks for the information anyway ..
It was a remarkably interesting and enlightening video. I would like to know more about what the average Russian hunter and shooter uses in the field. What is the most common shotgun used for hunting birds and small game? What about bears and moose? I am not sure what kind of deer are in Russia but what is used for that type of game? I have looked at some Russian hunting forums and several hunters like semi auto firearms based on the AK type of action in larger calibers. The bureaucracy that one must go through is interesting. In all honesty, in the US that would not be tolerated too well. Most gun laws are at the state level. Since there are 50 states there are 50 sets of gun laws. It really depends on where you live or travel to. As an example, here in Wyoming I can lawfully shoot at varmints out of a vehicle on a two track dirt road. In my old home state of Massachusetts, if caught, I would face a hell of a fine and loss of my license to carry. Here in Wyoming you do not need a license to carry a firearm openly or concealed. But you do need a hunting license for small and big game as well as other types of game. Coyotes and prairie dogs( a type of large ground squirrel) one can shoot without any kind of license as they are classified as a pest.
The description of the bureaucracy part the lady gave somewhat differs from the process I personally went through in that her story looked more complicated, maybe this is reflective of her personal experience at certain medical/police offices. Also elements of the application process could be done online, this was not mentioned, I think.
That is interessting. So after all that procedures is it possible to get a mosinka and go to the range? As far as i understand after 5 years ? Is there also a regulation how to store your gun at home, maybe it needs special boxes or so for the gun and also the ammunition?

The psychological interviews were more complicated than here where your family and friends are interviewed regarding your mental and emotional stability during the process but it seems that it is a worthwhile process in order to prevent inappropriate people from having firearms. If the right to bear arms wasn't enumerated in the American Constitution, our weapons laws would be far more restricted than even Russia. American bureaucrats hate the 2A
They (Russia) needs a military exception, i.e.; if you join the militia and serve after regular military service for 2-3 years and stay on reserve for several years. All the BS hunting license is a deterrence that those that want to break up Russia have made part of law.
this was interesting ... seems difficult to own a firearm in Russia .. and even more difficult to maintain the certification.. yet, I could see this system working if there was prepartory classes to educate new shooters to the sport ..
In rural areas there is many unregistered funs available, in some regions even make their own guns illegally, alrthough its less common now and illegal guns are easy to get, mostly ak47s, sks and nagant rifles and shotguns, illegal handguns are common in the caucasus too. I think ive seen 100 or more illegal pistols in 2 years in dagestan. In tuva for example the majority of houses have a gun but few have a permit mostly ak47s and sks rifles. It depends where you are, in regional areas its common, the russians in moscow, st petersburg ect its pretty well regulated.

Very glad we here in the US have none of all that to go through.
Russia's population: Not a lot of guns compared to America.
You forgot to mention that our government hands out felonies like candy while their government doesn't, therefore they will have more eligible people while we'll have a large defacto ineligible population.
@@charlesbrightman4237 well they also don't have a right to firearms ownership written into their constitution with the purpose of fighting th government in mind. I had no idea about the ordeal these people must go through to be a legal firearms owner. Living here in East Tennessee, guns are just a part of life. I would guess that people living a thousand miles from Moscow are probably handling guns informally and away from severe scrutiny. in Croatia it is almost the same.. you can opt for sports shooting (which limit some weapon types and usage) or for hunting, selfdefense is almost impossible.. past background check from ministry of interior and all medicals including psycho-test, hunting test, animals and ballistics theory.. only different thing is we dont have this 5 year of smooth bore owning before you can by a rifled gun.. if its legal to posses as per gun law you can buy it on the first day of having a licence.. and of course immediately go report it to ministry of interior for registration, you have i think 8 days from purchase.. unlike some EU countries we cannot own suppressors/silencers..
Very interesting to hear about other countries gun licensing processes.. What are the requirements for keeping the guns at home? Great video

Here in Austria gun laws are only Second (third really) only Czechs and Swiss.
You can own any kind of Melee weapon as long as its not made to look like "Not a Weapon" and Knuckle Dusters are a No-no.
As for firearms your Handguns are limited to 20 round Magazine capacity Max and for Self Loading Rifles 10 rounds.
Main issue with guns here is the Price and the price of all the paperwork.

Do you guys have magazine restrictions in Germany? For example, can you own a standard 30 round magazine if you are able to legally get an AR15?
every responsible gun owner should make sure his weapons are secure. A safe is a fine way to accomplish that.
( Standard is up to 30 rounds magazines, if you want a higher capacity you need a special autorisation)
There is no limitation in terms of repeating rifles and shotguns or semi auto 2+1 except if they are in some designated caliber which are
.223R/5,56×45, 7,62x39, 5,45x39, 12,7x99 (.50BMG) and 14,5x114.
Any weapon in this caliber entering the 15 guns limitation.
Curiously the russian 12,7x108 is a free caliber...but I've never seen any rifle in this caliber sold in France ( Same for the 14,5×114)
Wow I feel sorry for you... greetings from Texas.

Thanks for the information anyway ..
It used to be a communist state, this was not even allowed back then, they’re getting somewhere while we’re going backwards with liberals in charge
Hey great seeing you again...Sooo enjoyed your post...God Bless you guyz!
Also elements of the application process could be done online, this was not mentioned, I think.

this was interesting ... seems difficult to own a firearm in Russia .. and even more difficult to maintain the certification.. yet, I could see this system working if there was prepartory classes to educate new shooters to the sport ..
