    Great restoration!! I have one I am redoing for a friend's daughter but powder coating the chrome parts. Can I ask a question as I am tearing it down.....how did you get the part where you put your feet apart from the U bracket that holds it? Thanks in advance

      @@Buicksx2 thank you. It just pries apart. On one side the ball is in the foot rest and on the other side the ball is in the u bracket. It’s a little tough because of how much grime gets in there over the years.

    Paint job looks amazing, how did you do it? From a can or a sprayer connected to an air compressor? Thank you!

    nice work, I had a similar chair, it won't spin while pull the handle suddenly, also jack up not all to max height, any idea that can fix it by my own, it's too heavy to send for repair! thank you very much.

      There is a leather valve that usually wear out inside the base that controls the oil flow. That’s usually the issue when jacking it up. As far as it not spinning there is a small thick piece of metal called the brake that fits in a small slot. Sometimes these brakes fall out of the slot and down into the base. That’s where mine was. If they get all gummed up you’ll need to take it apart and clean everything really well and put new 30W non detergent oil back in. I hope that helped.

    What’s Best way to take barber chairs apart for re chrome? Please

    • @claytonautomotive9294
      @claytonautomotive9294  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Start with removing the back piece then the arms and foot rest. Take pictures along the way so that you know which screws go where. Then the cylinder will pull out of the base. Have a pan to drain the oil into. Then flip the base over and remove the base ring. Spray everything down with some penetrating oil and let soak before trying to remove any of the screws.

      @@claytonautomotive9294 thank you very much. The people I bought my shop from used motor oil in hydraulics is that a thing? I’d rather hydraulic fluid

      @@carlosreyes5835 that is very common. 30w oil is fine as long as it’s non detergent. Works very well.
