- Hi I’m a farrier from the U.K. Today I will be trimming and shoeing Lady.
Don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel as I upload horse shoeing and trimming videos on a regular basis.
Hope you have a great day and I’ll see you on the next video 🤙
Love this! She looked like she was falling asleep, so relaxed. 😍
She was chilling out with her pampering 😂
What a beautiful gentle lass, totally unbothered, seen it all before ❤️ Hope your back is recovering Peter.
I am on the mend thank you 😊. I wish they all stood still like her.
There is something so calming about watching your videos. Simple explanations of the work process and lots of fab asmr sounds. Love to see your channel growing so well. 😊

I truly believe 🐴 Lady was saying, wake me up before you go 😊 And the hoof looks fantastic ‼️
@cinderblock....more than likely the shoe was super uncomfortable and she was relieved it was finally off!

Hello Peter. Hope you are feeling better. Lady is a beautiful horse. Love the office view and it’s nice to see the horse you are working with. Great job .
Thank you William 😊. I am definitely better than I was. I am just taking it a bit easier at the moment. I think I need another holiday 😂
For some reason I love the « nail polish » at the end...😅
What a beauty! And so calm.....
What a gentle and good girl! She is a Lady in every sense of the word. Beautiful and gorgeous. So happy to watch a new video Peter. Your job is excellent as always. Wish you all the best❤
Sweet sleepy mare and a fab office for the day! Thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful gentle horse. Hope your back is better mate.
Doing much better thanks mate. Hope you are keeping well 😊
Been in the wrong job all my life.....this looks great, really satisfying work!🫡 Always been drawn to horses but alas I'm a townie and drive a fork truck 🤷🏼♂️
Another great video with a lovely view from the “office window.” Thank you, Peter.
New shoes for the Lady 👠
You rarely shoe your horses on video. This was a treat.. Good job Peter.
Lovely work, thanks for sharing!
So, enjoyed watching!
Thank you 😊
She is very beautiful.
She definitely is 😊
Great video as always ❤ be careful with your back remember to take it easy. Easier said than done with so many horses that need shoeing haha. Hope your family are doing good too 😊
I am taking it easy at the moment. I need to start looking after myself 😂. All the family are great thank you.
Thanks for showing the country side, it's just breath taking!! Take care of that back; hope it heals well. Time off is not a luxury for the hands-on working man, and your craft is physically intense.
A bit off topic, the meat from a horse is very tender and has a unique sweet taste, if you roast a leg with apples onions mushroms and mint with a splash of lemon and soy sauce, it tastes like beef thats the leg but neck is also tasty
G’day Pete for some reason I fine watching you very calming, I suffer with a lot of health issues and it helps my pain level, that new shoe you put on Lady is that been coated it’s because of the colour? She is a beautiful horse and she didn’t mine letting you do your job, what is that clear fluid you brush onto the hoof after your finished? That’s a lovely part of the country It makes me want to go back over. Good to see You Peter kind regards John
Thank you mate glad you like the video 😊. I wish you the best with your health issues. You definitely should come to the uk and get yourself a cup of tea.
@@PeterthefarrierI recall using linseed oil to coat the outer hoof of my horse. In those far off days we also would use Stockholm tar inside around the frog if there had been an infection or just preventative, ive really forgotten. Like your commenter above, I too find your work or anything helping animals soothing. I'm an expat Brit too and miss my life in Cornwall tremendously. With virtually wall to wall news on the horrible couple I realise it has affected me phychologically with depression and I long for taking my horse, Gypsy, all black and gorgeous to our local blacksmith as we called them. He made the shoes from scratch, no pre-manufactured shoes then. I can still smell that wonderful smell of the steam when water and hoof and steel meet. As a teenager my non horse father paid the bill. Wait for it.....17/6d! He couldn't get over the expense. I can't even imagine what the cost is now since the mid 1950s. I would love to ride again, in the beauty that is or was Cornwall. I was a Birmingham girl but we finally moved full time near Penzance. Love your programme ❤
I certainly agree with you. Read my comment to this kind man. ❤
Such a small hoof
Lady was having a snooze while you worked
🐎😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hope you are well Liz 😊
What a lovely girl! Seen the breadstick goat lately?
Love your videos, just want to know how long does it take to do all four shoes on average? Thank you for the content and the beautiful office views. Love from Arizona ❤
Thank you 😊. It normally takes me a hour to do all four shoes. Well depending on the job that needs doing and how cooperative they are 😂
I hope your back is much better. How long does it take to shoe all four feet (hooves)?
I am definitely better than I was thank you 😊. A full shoeing all around normally takes me about an hour.
Wow, excellent video quality!
Did you recently upgrade to a 4K camera?
Hi Peter. You may have answered this question in the past. Why do you press the hot shoe on the horse's hoof?
What is the reasoning behind applying a hot shoe to the hoof? Is it to create a groove for it?
How do you measure the hoof for the correct shoe size and shape? I often see farriers making those adjustments to the new shoes, before applying to the horse (hot-shoeing, I think?)-- but how do you know how to shape and adjust the shoe without the horse actually there while you're working at the forge?
Does it smell bad when you’re holding the hot shoe on the hoof and it’s smoking ?
So question, what is the purpose of burning the hoof with the hot shoe? Does it burn off high spots or something? Thanks
It helps with the fitting process. It is easier to bend a hot shoe than a cold one.
Why dont you pull pit the nails on the shoe first, easy to remove the shoe without force??
Worn out shoes should be as thin as razor blades, with almost nothing left of the nail heads. These shoes have probably not done 40 miles. If you’re charging about £80, that’s £2 a mile. If you’re shoeing it every 6 weeks that’s less than a mile a day. No wonder horses live so long these days they never do any work. Enjoyed watching your work, thanks.
