I really love this type of content, personally. It's very much what I'm drawn to. Revisiting designs, troubleshooting, honest feedback about how one really feels about the final make, including those little details like the cuff fit...that stuff is my jam! For what it's worth, you pull off the final aesthetic beautifully, and the dress looks amazing on you!
I’m going to be honest, at first I did not see the vision with these fabrics, but I love the finished piece on you! The end result is more grungy than girly and I think the fit looks great on you.

Can really see such a marked improvement in this dress. It’s interesting how the different fabric gives it a completely different vibe. This one reminds me a bit of the Westwood punk aesthetic 😊

Advice on homemade bias: for seams that are straight and especially cases where you’re using bias to make a strap out of it it is better to not cut bias on bias (lol) but to cut it along the length of the fabric, this way it will give you a neater look as well as a way more reliable and durable strap. And if you have a combination seam (part straight part curve) in case where straight part is significant length it could sometimes make sense to Frankenstein those two types together
I AM TEACHING MYSELF HOW TO CROCHET!!!! I’ve decided that I’m going to crochet myself a sweater vest. I just learned how to do single crochet and use that to make ribbing.
I mean clothing design is hard! I’ve pinned so many beautiful garments and then realized “would I actually look good in this?” And then fabric can make or break a whole look. I feel like it’s all a life-long process in learning. I really like the way the patchwork turned out. Will be interested to hear if it’s something you end up wearing!
Truly!! Aw man it's gotta be one of my least favourite feelings when sewing though.... but lifelong learning is the BEST!!!
I honestly loooove the back and the colors of all the ties together! I think if it was my project, I'd cut out the long 'tail' of the bodice and fill it in with the part of skirt you ended up cutting out the back to give it a waist again. Maybe put in more of the fabric that only ended up in the ties? I might be biased because that one was my favorite of all five!

i've commented this before but i'm part of your viewer group that watches every video so don't worry about that haha. but i think it's important to show experimentation and growth!! i've watched so many of my fav youtubers learn how to knit and sew over months and years and shared their journey.
i personally like this color scheme more but what you said about fabric makes total sense!! i'm curious about a silky rich red for a gift wrapping ribbon aesthetic.
p/s: i'm crocheting a little moth man amigurumi. it's hurting my hands since he's a 3.5mm hook boy but i think he's turning out dandy

Love love love this version of the dress! I especially think the back is magnificent. Maybe the front bodice feels a little sparse compared to the back, but that’s nothing a fun necklace or embellishment can’t fix! Great work

I went looking for the Ulani dress after this. That it costs so much for cheese cloth and a fit that hinges on a waist pulled tight is outrageous. The dress had some serious floofing to make it look that good. I think you made it ahrder on youraelf with the bias patchwork on the bodice. The result is fantastic though
with gatherings. .I do divide and conquer method, .. which basically means just pinning section by section to the dress. Pin the two sides. MEasure out the middle of the gathering fabric and the fabric you are going to put it on. Pin the middle together. Do the same with the two sides. Middle. .to middle. And slowly you get smaller and smaller sections that are perfectly balanced

From the front the dress is nice, but the ties at the back bug me because they are chaotic. I'm working on my third Roberts-Wood piece - a long red and black version of the bow skirt. If you get to the Gold Coast do some op shopping. Lots of very lovely clothes at Lifeline or the Salvos. I scored a dress for $15 from the Melbourne brand Sa Dot Na.

Love this dress on you both the first and the second version! If you decide to do a third version try to sew your bias tape strips diagonally (at 90 degrees) that makes the seam stretchy too and the seam is way less bulky when you fold it :))

You just need to put it away and not look at it for a couple days, you've just got process PTSD. The final result looks absolutely unreal on you!

I think the patch working in this dress is great! I think perhaps the front bodice green panel needs to be broken up a little bit. Maybe add some beading or embroidery on your left chest side? To help balance it out. I haven’t seen the original up close so you might be right with the binding. As for the gaping at the back I would be taking some of that volume/gathering out to help fix it but your solution was very clever! The original may also have a lining inside which is fitted to the body so it can not drop down at the back? Which seems like an odd choice for a dress of this design but I would loooove to get my hands on one to inspect it with you hahaha
I am currently procrastinating my Taylor swift eras tour outfit because I haven’t properly sewn anything of my own since I graduated school. But I’m running out of time so I think it’s time to start again.

Thank you so much mate!! Aw man if you're loving sewing then I can't lie - an overlocker is incredible. You can definitley get by with a zig zag stitch on the domestic machine, and I know sewists who have done that for years before getting an overlocker....
But if you've got a few extra $$ and you're loving the hobby... you'll love an overlocker I think. I got mine for $200 on fb marketplace (it's a mylock 644D) and it's awesome.
Speeds up the process, gives a professional finish & the seams look so good!!!
The dress is so lovely, but maybe you don’t like the colors? It appears to fit you like a glove. Lots of good lessons learned!
