With no wrap in the Pacific Ocean between North America and Asia or between South America and Australia, it gives Alaska, Chile, Siberia and New Zealand a defensive edge that (in my opinion) outweighs the offensive edge Europe provides. Once blue had secured the Americas, he could focus on Africa and Asia without being flanked.
