This performance was recorded on Sunday, January 14, 1979, during the San Remo international night galà. The performance was aired on february '79 by RAI Italian TV in a TV show called "Ribalta Internazionale 79"

"Wow" e "Hammer horror" vennero registrate il 14 gennaio 1979 nel "galà" del Festival di Sanremo, "Ribalta internazionale" e trasmesse l'8 febbraio 1979 in una delle cinque puntate di "Sanremo hit international". Solo per "Hammer horror" c'è un altro video, trasmesso in diretta, sabato 13 gennaio 1979. Quindi sono tre i pezzi da lei cantati in questo contesto.
I've watched this particular video a dozen times and simply I get myself with my mouth open every time since. I think I will never get used to it. KB is a siren, a genious.
Possibly in part due to the poor quality of the clip as seen here, just about anything slightly black in colour here becomes completely vanishes. In much of this all you see is Kate's face, her hands and the other dancer's hands.It's almost like a variation on black light theatre, except there's no black light here, only very narrowly focused visible light. Very interesting effect.

too bad she lip-synced so many of these performances on TV, such a terrible waste of potential, in the sense that these could have been LIVE performances passed down through time. Ok, the dancing was live, granted, but her few REAL live singing films are astonishing.
During this period TV producers hated live vocals. Getting a good sound is so unpredictable. Live singing was banned on Top of The Pops for example. Her real live stuff is rare but brilliant.
Hair aside, KB certainly only ever had two arms. Is this her Lindsay Kemp phase gone nuts or an overly enthusiastic San Remo choreographer. The latter, I suspect. Perhaps I shouldn't be so critical, especially as this is clearly a rare video, but this is one of my favourite KB songs and I don't think that the choreography quite does her justice. But she is a trouper and gets on with it.

No darling. Kate Bush did not have that hair colour or length in 1979. Her hair was shorter, crimped, and red.
she wore it different ways throughout the 70s and yes she did wear it this color at times.
