I play the piano and that’s what you’re supposed to do. It’s an amazing feeling using your elbows, arms and back to pull in all of the feeling of the music.
@@pearlgirl5643 no it's called getting older. Expecting someone whether it be an athlete, musician or whoever to perform to the same level in their 50s as they did their 20s is just idiotic.
As much as I love her... she's not really playing during this performance. The piano is clearly still playing even when she takes her hands off the keys, and on the camera angles from above the piano you can see that the hammers are not hitting the strings. The piano keyboard has been disabled. I'm also pretty sure she's singing with a backing track and no live band. I have no idea why they did this, as she's perfectly capable of doing this exact performance fully live. The only thing I can think of is she didn't have time to get to the studio for the proper rehearsals and sound check, so they had to dub it like this for the sake of the broadcast.
@@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg she’s playing the piano. There’s a background track that’s playing the other instruments including part of the piano that would be hard to do solo on live tv. It’s an accompaniment so the audience can hear different chords simultaneously. It’s supporting the melody she’s playing.
The fact is, music students are a dime a dozen and most of them will never be heard. That's great that you're a flawless musician in your living room, but unless you're able to express the passion and charisma that Tori Amos can, no one will ever care about you. She isn't loved because she's the greatest musician ever; she's loved because she has the ability to draw you in as a performer. This isn't something that can be taught in school, yet it's the only thing that really matters, isn't it.
Yes she also produces all of her records(except for Little Earth Quakes and Under The pink, her first two). She's one of few female artists who has complete artistic control over her career
I'm 18 and a huge Tori fan, and I completely agree with you. I would rather have my head shoveled off than be a teenager in the 2020s. Worst part for me is that I wanna be a musical artist. Not that art has any place or value in the digital age, so that dream can go out the window.
she was my inspiration when Madonna was at her peek, she is still amazing ,,Tori Amos still is in music today as I understand ..wonderful singer in her own right ..:)
I just saw the girl on Deadloch crush this song and I had to hear it. Telling my age but this album came out when i was like 16 and it was so big for my generation.
I was on live show with this song in Aspen CO long ago but still can`t forget that great performance! I discover her that day and am so happy about it! On that concert as a warming up musician was Stive Miller live, accustic, without band...Fill sorry for myself
Ich Liebe Tori von dem Tag an, an derer ich Ihr zum ersten male gewahr nahm, mit was? Mit Recht, anderer Worte bin ich überdrüssig geworden. Ich bin Stolz sie hören zu dürfen!!!
Flashback to when music and performance sounded and looked REAL on “live tv”. I can’t take it with these pop songstresses nowadays!! Their voices all sound the same, or like, derived from the same 3 places, to me. There’s no REAL individuality I can sense in the sound of their music, even if they have great voices. By the time they get a performance spot on live tv it doesn’t even translate to me, because they’ve been vamping on TikTok for years already.
@LG OK, thank you very much for the quick answer! I actually meant "Conan the Barbar" which was played by the Austrian actor Arnold Schwarzenegger! 😁 😁 Unfortunately, I don't know that host but I can look him up on the Internet, of course! 👍 I
I agree that musicians who have had serious training are neither noticed or respected the way they need to be. However it is not necessary to brag on your capabilities with music theory and your creativity. Whoop-dee-do good for you! Plenty of creative people go unnoticed. Continue what you do, but what is the point in bashing on other musicians? Fact is Tori Amos is a talented woman and has so much depth and feeling to her music. Let the people who love her be, and do your own thing.
Well, like your nickname says, Tori Amos RULES. That's it! No one will ever be better than her... And I don't mean that there aren't other great songwriter like Bjork or Pj Harvey, but Tori is special and unique in every possible way, she's always on another level, far more higher even than Kate Bush.
This song is about the atrocities of female circumcision and a response to the betrayal of women in Alice Walker's book, "The Secret Joy". It's a tongue-in-cheek outcry. It's also interesting to note that co-inventor of the cornflake , Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, ran a sanatorium and held views that masturbation was a sign of psychosis. For females, a remedy for this was to apply carbolic acid to the clitoris. Ironically, a younger, struggling Tori did a commercial for Kellogg's "Just Right".
She has AMAZING stage presence...look at her using her whole body to play piano. I love Tori Amos

Even i am mostly into metal, that song really grabbed my ears....back into that day. It's still very good.
I know it isn't metal but her Nirvana cover is breathtaking
Tori had much of a metal energy inside her... said by another metal head 😉
she grabbed one Mr MJKeenan's ears too.
and one Mr TReznor's heart.

i think youd enjoy toris first three albums. highly suggest.
@@pezcore2142 I know Tori since "Cornflake Girl" which is a hell long time ago.

Got reminded of this song when I heard it on Yellowjackets. Awesome song and the show is awesome also, very good soundtrack on it.
I love the nintiesness of this.
Real musicians. So few and far between in our add and self obsessed world.
