    “ The practice of monogamy is NOT having a back up plan. I AM ALL IN!” 😩😩😩😩😩😩 This conversation is so needed!

    • @lonewolflovechild7390
      @lonewolflovechild7390 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That was the one statements I don't agree with. First off, I'm a believer that for most humans, monogamy is NOT natural...especially for men who are natural hunters. "Practicing" monogamy pretty much means a trial and error with a woman of interest, but not a guarantee...especially if she happens to be the first woman he has a relationship with right out of being a playa. It's not realistic to expect a man to go from ho-to-husband overnight. Women romanticize the idea of it and get egos filled thinking they are the ones who turned their men around, but so often, it doesn't last a lifetime. The other part of that practiced monogamy is that a man sometimes expects one woman to satisfy his sexual appetite as previous have collectively. There is a difference between abstinence and celibacy. Abstinence is just forcing yourself to withdraw from sexual activity. If a man practices celibacy, he is on a deeper spiritual level with God to get the strength to withstand far beyond his own thinking and understanding. How many men deal with the frustrations of abstinence compared to welcoming the depths of celibacy?
      If monogamy were natural, there would never be any cheating and the struggle to "behave" would not be present. JMO

    This is by far one of the most HONEST conversations I’ve ever heard. As a woman, we often don’t get to see men be this transparent or vulnerable. More conversations like this are needed both for men and women.

      You are absolutely right! Guess what though?? Aside from Biblical references, I have been saying what he's saying for YEARS and got shut down BY MEN! As a matter of fact, I just shared this video with a friend of mine who knows for a fact that I have been dropping these gems in deep conversations. However, I'm feeling a certain kind of way because every time I've said the same EXACT thing, I have gotten pushback as the "sista that's speaking for men again!". The defensiveness from men when they hear women make these statements is remarkable. Little do they know that I have been blessed to have had raw and candid conversations with male friends who were teaching me...not telling me what I wanted to hear. Huge difference. SOME of the things they share will make you take a swig of something stronger than wine, fo sho!!! LOL! I just wish men and women could have this same conversation without defensiveness and inflated egos in the room distracting from the learning process.
      I agree that this episode was one of the best because if there is any voice that needs to be heard, it is that of humble men who are ready to share truth and transparency. It's not for the weak on either end.

    Great job gentlemen! I'm listening to this podcast as a 39 year old man in a beautiful 11 year marriage - and I still learn daily! There were gems dropped that add value to single men and those who are married. I love how Dr. Bryant shared that he is operating in grace but that favor trumps grace. And if he was married, that favor would propel him to even greater heights! #TeamMarriage

    When Pastor said the greatest gateway to sin is boredom, I felt that. As a woman, I've always felt that if my man isnt challenging me, holding me accountable for my shortcomings or having transparent and honest communication with me - i instantly become bored. I have to remember most people, (not even just men) have a hard time with that level of openness. Keeping myself busy by focusing on my own personal goals and aspirations have helped me combat boredom but if I'm being honest, it can be a challenge. In most cases, one person is always further along in their personal development. It takes a different type of love to have the patience and the understanding to completed this. For me, this is where having a solid foundation as friends come into play. When you have that solid foundation to your relationship, it becomes easier to allow your partner to grow without the boredom kicking in.
    Great conversation family ❤️

      Which person is the one who is furthest in their personal development? The one who does not actively challenge the other person? Or the one who often gets bored? Or none of the above? I’m just curious as this is an interesting conversation

    • @Aquemini888
      @Aquemini888 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tchoopee5143 This is such a great question!! To answer this, I believe that it is not a matter of who is further along at that point, but recognizing that growth is continuous and that in a union each individual must take responsibility for their own actions and ask themselves the hard questions such as "Why am I bored? What's the trigger within myself that's keeping me bored? How can I communicate this with my partner and work on this so that we both can grow?"
      If the partnership is worth the investment, we must communicate and be patient throughout the growing process. It's a never ending one, but growing and shifting through each transformation within our relationships is what makes the connection worthy and valuable.
      Thank you so much for challenging this perspective ❤️✨

But to have him confirm it as a MAN and then as a pastor he did what most pastors do NOT do and that is he was TRANSPARENT, displayed his humanity, and owned the errors from his past and did so with real empathy. NO and I mean NO men out here are keeping it THIS REAL. I don't care what Dr Jamal's were in his past he clearly has transformed and has been made new again. Just heard another Pastor speak on commitment this week. This is so encouraging to hear twice from a male in a position of leadership shepherding a flock. You know you are committed when you make up your mind that there is no other choice; there is no plan B.

    This was so insightful, especially the part about closure for men. What he said about convenience and toleration blew my mind. It all was so deep and answered several questions I have had for at least 20 years. Practice monogamy by not having options, be all the way in...

    Pastor Dr Jamal Bryant has always been one of my faves when it comes to talking about black love and relationships. I love how he holds the men accountable but volunteers his own missteps for them to learn from. Great guest, great conversation

    • @BjtheLawyer_
      @BjtheLawyer_ ปีที่แล้ว

      But, do you share that same love when a Man holds women accountable as well? See men don’t have issues w/ people holding us accountable because we use to it. However, in the black community, a current issue is nobody can hold Bw accountable.

    • @HisGraceIsSufficient555
      @HisGraceIsSufficient555 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Accountability is not a black woman issue it’s a human issue. What we are witnessing in this world today is BOTH men and woman that have trouble being held accountable. But this goes back to the garden of Eden. Adam and Eve both fell but neither took accountability. Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent.
      But just because some or even many have trouble being held accountable doesn’t mean all. I’m a black woman and my pet peeve is people not taking accountability for their actions. I hold myself to the standard that was written out in the Bible by God and and lived out through Jesus Christ my Lord.
      May I ask how can you assume by her statement that this lady doesn’t have the same energy when women are being called to task? I know a lot of us have been hurt but when are we going to stop trying to accuse one another but instead try to understand one another? It’s sad to see the battle of the sexes because it’s nothing but a tactic from the enemy to keep us divided because he knows the power that we possess when come together. Like the scripture says a house divided can’t not stand.

    • @BjtheLawyer_
      @BjtheLawyer_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HisGraceIsSufficient555 accountability isn’t an issue w/ men because we get held accountable regardless if we like it or not. If bm commit a crime, we go to jail. If bm don’t take care of kids we get put on child support. If bm don’t work, we end up homeless. Women in 2023, aren’t held accountable because either they get bailed out of their situation or someone makes an excuse for their actions. So, from my examples please explain to me how men & women are equally held accountable? If a relationship ends, the man gets blamed for the demise!

    • @nina8340
      @nina8340 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BjtheLawyer_dealing with consequences doesn't equate to a person taking accountability for their actions that lead to said consequences. lol.. go to any jail, and most will say they didn't do it and/or blame someone else..

    As a SINGLE, DIVORCED WOMAN, this episode was very enlightening for me! Now I have the tools to understand what is really happening with our black men these days. I must the admit, the dating pool is a little tainted but this could be from a lack of knowledge and information within our black community. Unhealed traumas/hurts and the inability to be accountable within our black community were a few things that were eye opening for me. Pastor Bryant really broke it down! I have encountered so many things while dating that has made to want to be complacent with my singleness. Not being willing to compromise my values and sugarcoat with my partner were issues in my past relationships. Now I know that when a man is truly committed, he will do the work…everything else is an excuse and the inability to be accountable for himself. I throughly enjoyed this conversation!
