    Anyone else been doing this all along & didn’t know that it had a name? Lol😅
    I must say though: This is an excellent knit tutorial video though. It’s one of the best that I have come across on TH-cam so far for both knitting and crocheting. The overall speed is perfect; I’m not yelling at the screen to go faster, nor am I having to rewind the video at all. Also, I like how the instructor is succinct yet explains what they are doing very well. Additionally, the contrasting colors make the color transitions more easily identifiable. Major kudos to the creator, instructor, and editor!🤓💕💕I think I will start referring to this channel in the future, rather than just relying on random TH-cam search results!😂😅

    i love the tip about knitting 2 sts, THEN tighten; i had been tightening after the first st or totally forgetting to tighten at all, resulting in a lot of wonky sts. Working on my first somewhat complicated intarsia of 2 colors only but lots of strands I did not realize. Lots of tinking but now going well. Thanx, I love your instructive style and you inspired me to make a blanket to use up all my waste yarn ... it will be fun to make it up as I go along with different squares and rectangles. I was always so intimidated by intarsia. thanx thanx thanx

      You just follow the same directions on this video, just with casting on instead of knitting.

    Can this be done knitted in the round? For example, start off with blue in the round, then there is a blue block section in the middle joined to red and white stripes then the top is finished with red in the round? Or would I have to knit just the full blue block section after the blue in round section then attach the stripes knitting back & forth and finish the red top section to it while knitting in the round? I'm trying to knit an USA flag beanie with all knit stitches. Sorry for any confusion. Just a little hard to explain.

      Hi, it can be done in the round, but it's definitely a lot more work. The nice thing about working flat is that you move the colors from right to left on the RS and then from left to right on the WS so they are mostly back to where they should be when you start another RS row. The hard thing about working that in the round is that you will work one color for X amount of stitches from right to left and then keep going with a different color for the rest of the round and when you get back to where you need to start that other color again, the yarn is at the place where that color ended, not started. So you either have to carry the yarn all the way around as floats (like colorwork), or you have to cut it and rejoin the yarn at the beginning of where that color begins again. And you have to do that for ever round. I hope that made sense, it's a hard thing to explain in writing.
      For something like a beanie, which doesn't have a ton of stitches and if the flag part isn't that big, then cutting the yarn every time for a few rounds wouldn't be that big of a deal, but you could also carry the yarn around which would make the hat extra warm. I hope that makes sense

      @@TheBlueMouseKnits would you carry the yarn for the whole row the same way you do for those first two stitches when you change colors? Keeping the carried color to the left of the color your working until you use it again? I'm having the same problem working in the round with a vertical stripe! It's difficult but I have a vision I don't wanna give up on! haha

    The difficult part is to start a new color, the first stitch, you already have a few rows when you show how to join

    • @julesgray810
      @julesgray810 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep I am trying to find any video that shows the first stitch, but every video already has many rows done and doesn't specify if the new color is any different or if I just slip it on like normal

      I agree. Have watched so many tutorials that only explain the stitch but not what comes before or how to follow the stitch in a pattern.
