I've been using the 6c for a while now and currently I am testing the Mühle blades. I have to say, the 6c on plate 2 became my daily driver. I have tested some blades on this setting and it feels great. Such a smooth shave with almost no irritation (my neck is veeeery sensitive so it is nearly impossible to shave without irritation, but it is less irritated with the 6c) Just love for this razor. And just love for this whole, non toxic, community. Love you guys!
It's awesome to hear that the 6c is working so well for you! Finding the right setup can make all the difference, especially with sensitive skin. Happy shaving!

Nice video. You got me. I own a Henson medium and love it, but I could not resist the rockwell sale and another 10% off using your code. So, I splurged and purchased the 6S after just purchasing a Merkur long handle progress from Shave Nation. My razor stand had to grow too!
You were right about the Henson and Astra blades. Great shave using the Henson the first time. Little Argan oil on the face and then some proraso, WAY better than my Twig and Merk.
Glad you did this comparison. I have the Henson+(mild) and I always thought the R2/R3 plate on my 6S was about the same as the Henson in efficiency. And I agree that the 6S is a smoother shaver. In my experience, the 6S is hands down better than any other safety razor I've used. It's so versatile. That's why at double the price I don't have a need for the T2 adjustable.

Absolutely incredible video! The new camera positioning and second angle is perfect, thanks for the info on both. Currently waiting on a gunmetal 6c myself
Man, I just got Henson a month ago and already want to get the Rockwell. Henson is great. Way better than any cartridge razor. I could never get a BBS shave on my mustache. My face gets shredded going against the grain on my mustache with a cartridge. The Henson? First time ever a BBS shave. I can go about 2 days between shaves before I get a significant stubble. All that said. It takes a lot more time with the Henson. I use the Mild version. I need to take multiple strokes on an area for each pass to get all the hair because of how mild it is. So, now I feel like I need to get the Rockwell for a little bit more aggression. Just to shorten the time needed to get all the hair.
Recently got into safety razors. I started with a Giesen & Forsthoff Gentle Shaver, then the Merkur 34c. Neither seemed to give me the aggressiviness I needed. Ordered both the Rockwell 6C (Chrome) and the The Parker Variant Adjustable to see which I liked better. I'll let you know my thoughts when hey arrive. Your videos are very helpful. Thanks, and keep them coming.
I'm going to have a good Rockwell 6 c or s shave tonight. Think I'm going to use one of my PAA soaps and my dreamscape scuttle. It sounds really good right now.
Great video!!!! I pulled out my 6C on my 4 plate for a face and dome shave today! It’s the first time I’ve shaved with it in like four months! I totally forgot how much I loved it!!!! 🪒😁🔥🧼🍺
I bought a henson mild when they came out, gave it to a family member I thought it was too mild. Bought a new one in medium its better on agression. The only thing i can say i dont like about the henson is the fact that its aluminum it drags a bit more compared to a plated razor or even a stainless raszor.
@OhioShaves Hairs get cut no issue, I have tried many blades over my 11 years of wetshaving, I mean the actual razor itself the material feels like it imparts more friction on the skin than a chromed razor. I have a 2c and a 6s and like a couple dozen other razors. Henson is the only one that feels that way. It's still a good razor, however.
I have been using a cheap safety razor(the chrome butterfly "as seen on tv" razor) but never fully committed to wet shaving. I had been just using shave foam, with good Astra blades. Switched for the cost savings over cartridges. Well, after doing some research and watching your videos, I decided to go for it. I purchased the gunmetal Rockwell 6C, Mûhle soap, Bloc osma alum, brush, and lather bowl. I would like to thank you for your videos, because that was the best shave of my life! Man! First time with no redness or irritation the following day that i can ever remember. I'm never going back!
I have the Henson mild which i use with the feather japan made blade instead of the RK Henson Indian or Gillette china and the Feather are way better, smoother and stay sharp longer... i do not own a Rockwell but having to change the plate for any reason during a shaving is kinda lame i mean the Henson is one plate all around that's it
I'm 99% sure it has to do with their machines and the difficulty they'd encounter and have to account for when dealing with all these other metals...aside from the material cost alone. Upgrading from Aluminum to Titanium for 200 bucks extra isn't all because Titanium cost that much more or Henson wants to rip you off in this dumb way. But rather what it takes to cut Titanium using their method does indeed up the cost by about 200 bucks. And if they just simply charge a lil more for a stainless steel or brass version in between the Aluminum and Titanium model they won't be competitive with the other 50 dollars ones.
No way. The Henson is a light razor it is what it is...if you prefer a handle heavy clunker get a different razor, The henson requires little pressure and a heavier handle can change the henson feel if that's what your going for.
Great video the Henson ++ and the 6C on 4 plate are two of my favorites I got the aggressive from Shave Nation My opinion I prefer the ++ the aggressive was a little to easy to nick myself
Nice comparison review. Don’t think I’ve seen one like this before. You confirmed what I suspected and saved me money. I don’t like light razors anyway.
Great quality video as usual thank you for the quality content ! I’ve been shaving with gilette fatboy slim and new gilette king c , love them both , but this Rockwell at this price is tempting for the versatility .
The only thing holding the henson back from being the perfect razor is it's weight. Pairing the henson head with a heavy handle greatly improves the shave. I don't think the titanium is heavy enough. They need to make a heavier head. I would buy that immidiately. Great vid.
Both are amazing razors. I'm leaning into the Henson because of its dummy-proof design but the long-term durability of the aluminum concerns me. Thoughts?
Keep it clean and it will last forever. I have never had an issue with any my razors breaking. The only razor that shows wear in my collection is the merkur 34C. The chrome plating is starting to wear off on one of the corners. You're good to go my friend the Henson is a great razor
Thank you very much for this great video. So I guess the Henson AL13 mild is probably even milder than Rockwell's C1 plate? No wonder I love the mild Henson, though Rockwell's C1 and C2 are always my most favourite razor choices so far. Have a good day!
They are different razors design wise. Rockwell has negative blade exposure. You have to apply a little bit of pressure for your skin to slightly bend into the blade gap and that gives you a shave. Henson has positive blade exposure. So the blade stick out a tiny bit and that gives you your shave. The main difference is Henson is easy. You just press it against your face. It's flat and it shaves you every single time. The Rockwell needs a little bit of user input. You need to apply the right amount of pressure. Too much and you get razor burn, too little and you're not going to take off hairs. If you get some experience, the Rockwell is probably better.
Very helpful, thank you. I was going to buy the Henson to add to my collection, but I think I will pass. My beard is fairly thick and coarse, but getting older I worry about my neck line. I'm looking for a medium strength razor.
Hey I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos and they are really helpful. I ditched cartridge razors a few months ago due to some skin issues. I tried supply and it was way too mild. It’s hard to get under my nose so I sometimes get a nic there or my neck. Anyway, I’ve been looking at the Henson medium vs the Rockwell 6c or 6s. @OhioShaves didn't mean it like that. just meant maybe a video where you use a razor as your benchmark and then compare others to it. an example could be king c as benchmark vs R89. maybe comparisons in general too. I know I would tune in for Murkur34c vs R89
How do I avoid getting all these little cuts on my neck? Buy a mild razor? Leaf Twig, Henson or Rockwell 6C? After shaving for 6 months with (I think pretty standard) Van Der Hagen safety razor I get cuts all the time. I think I do all the recommended thinks like taking a shower, shaving cream, light touch, 30 degrees and being careful. My wife’s first try using a safety razor left her with a big cut on her leg. Is buying a mild razor the answer?
I am a daily shaver with my Rockwell 6S, and I am looking for an option that is less prone to cuts and nicks. Would you recommend Henson? If yes, the AL 13 or the AL 13 M? For shaving everyday. (I have sensitive skin and coarse hair, and I only make 1 pass per shave).
There is nothing milder than the #1 plate on the 6S/6C. Just change your plate and try different settings. The Henson isn't that great. Overhyped because of good marketing and people who praise it often didn't try other razors. Different blades can completely change the way a razor behaves, and technique as well. I'd say stick with your Rockwell and experiment different plates and blades.. The Henson is better if you have no hair to shave. The Rockwell is better the rest of the time.
22:20 I bought the Henson AL 13-medium razor from the Henson website, I then found out that Shave Nation was selling the Henson aggressive model, so I bought it. I’ve used both of them multiple times & I like them both, but I like the medium version a little bit better. Both give me a great shave. Keep posting the great videos.👍🏻👍🏻🪒
Thanks for the video! I'm seeking some advice. I'm currently locked into the cartridge system And I'm considering my first safety razor. My hair is probably just as thick and course as yours. I have a beard and I typically keep it at about 2 weeks growth (so not that long). I shave an angle on my cheek as well as under my chin and then shave down my neck. I almost never let this growth (the areas that I shave) be longer than 2 or 3 days. I typically shave daily to keep the lines clean. Is there a razor you would recommend for this? Perhaps one of these two? Also, how decent and safe are safety razors for shaving other parts of the body? Thanks to anyone who responds.
If your just starting out. Go for the henson AL-13+ mild. This razor is the easiest to use anywhere on your body. Here is a link 🇨🇦Henson Shaving Code: OHIO_SHAVES Free 100 RK razor blades, add them to the cart and it will be discounted at checkout 🔗hensonshaving.com/
I have both of these and for some reason I get a better shave with the Henson. I want to like the Rockwell but I can't get a good shave with it. Even my wife likes the Henson for her legs over the other. Maybe it's user error.
the Henson is the best razor for people making the switch. The Rockwell is for the person that has great technique after buying a handsome and wants to level up.
@@OhioShaves that’s what I thought I remembered you saying in one of your videos. I’m considering buying the 6S. Which one would you recommend, the C or the S?
I find Henson Medium to be more efficient and closer shave than Rockwell. Rockwell head design is so bulky and cumbersome. It's not a fair fight to the Rockwell, Henson is just a better razor, even the manufacturing is superior, nevermind design.
The 6R’s are on a whole other level. The 6C made me a better shaver coming from the Merkur 34C. The Henson is great for beginners because they don’t know how to shave with a safety razor. It’s a great learning tool
@@OhioShaves For me personally, the Henson created a "dragging" effect because of the straight angles. Razor would literally stick to my skull, but wasn't aggressive enough to actually give a close shave. That's a bad combo and created irritation every time.. Medium didn't work either. I wasn't gonna waste money trying the third one haha. But there are so many great options available on the market. it's too bad that people get sucked in because of their good marketing and associate bad experience with wetshaving because of the "different" experience from the Henson. My 2¢. Great review there 👍
I don't find the Nacet to be that sharp of a blade. It's not as dull as a Bolzano or Parker but it's not as sharp as a Wilkinson Sword or Permasharp. I think you'd get a much better shave with either of those two. These grey, coarse stubble needs a sharp blade. It's not the same as shaving some arm/shoulder hair away from your favorite tattoos.
The weight heavy rockwell gives the perception of smoothness. If you use the rockwell handle with the henson head it would improve it's smoothness as well, and also It would also increase some aggresiveness....the henson ++ version might feel like rockwel's plate 4 in this case. Using the rockwel's handle in both razors would be a much fairer comparison IMHO.
The problem I have with Rockwell is that their design isn't stable. The blades I use (gillete wilkinsons) dont line up properly on the 6C and 6S.. Every other razor I have from other companies works fine and auto stabalizes the blade center.. The rockwell is clearly flawed. Tried 3 of them.
I've been using the 6c for a while now and currently I am testing the Mühle blades.

@OhioShaves didn't mean it like that. just meant maybe a video where you use a razor as your benchmark and then compare others to it. an example could be king c as benchmark vs R89.
maybe comparisons in general too. I know I would tune in for Murkur34c vs R89
When your done shaving how do you clean you Simpson brush ? Do you use warm water to clean it out?
Yes, I just keep rinsing it till the water is clear
I'm still deciding between both razors.
😁
What did you end it deciding?
How do I avoid getting all these little cuts on my neck?
Buy a mild razor? Leaf Twig, Henson or Rockwell 6C?
After shaving for 6 months with (I think pretty standard) Van Der Hagen safety razor I get cuts all the time. I think I do all the recommended thinks like taking a shower, shaving cream, light touch, 30 degrees and being careful.
My wife’s first try using a safety razor left her with a big cut on her leg.
Is buying a mild razor the answer?
Leaf Twig for my wife and me works great. The razor your using is not smooth
Less pressure, smaller strokes, slow your hand down and get closer to the mirror to see exactly how you need to cut the hair.
I really enjoy the Henson mild version. The medium aggression version is still at Smith shed so they are both good.
@@baldbearded9601 Thank you! Which blades would you recommend?
Why no thayers for this shave?
I actually forgot. I was focused on some new filming techniques that didn't work out, so great and forgot to use Thayers. 😂

Here is a link

You looked more comfortable and efficient using the Henson.
😁
Broke my 34c what's the way to go? Rockwell or Hansen? Cheers. Oh I Have sensitive fair skin
Rockwell
@@OhioShaves is the 6s worth the extra coin? Over the 6c
Yes
Many thanks for another comparison
Thank you much. Which razor do you like?
@@OhioShaves The Rockwell is my favourite razor from the two
Thanks for sharing
Where i live shave nation is only 45 minutes perhaps sli should pay him a visit
He actually has a storefront? Must be making very good money to be able to afford that.
Отличное сравнение! Интересно, как эти станки будут работать с лезвиями Нева?
Я еще не пробовал эти лезвия в этих бритвах
Try the Merkur 15C it's an open comb👍
I'm not a big fan of Merkur. There are so many better options out there. What do you like about the open comb?
15C gets your head squidgy Clean Smooth, it's much better than the 34C closed comb and just as forgiving@@OhioShaves
Is this the regular Henson razor or the Medium razor?!?!
Medium
Would you say the Rockwell is your favorite head shaving razor or do you have another favorite for head shaving?
Leaf shave 3 blades is the best I have ever used. Easy and fast
Which plate do you use the most on the 6C?
Great question when I first started using it, it was plate 4 now. It seems like I'm on plate 6 consistently.
@@OhioShaves that’s what I thought I remembered you saying in one of your videos. I’m considering buying the 6S. Which one would you recommend, the C or the S?
This was a 7 days growth right?
Just 5 days
Great review !
Glad you enjoyed it
I find Henson Medium to be more efficient and closer shave than Rockwell. Rockwell head design is so bulky and cumbersome. It's not a fair fight to the Rockwell, Henson is just a better razor, even the manufacturing is superior, nevermind design.
Right On
Bro, does this Simpson t3 shed hairs often cause i might pull the trigger on one
No. I lost about 6 hairs in total. I do rinse and towel dry it after every shave. It’s a wow brush. Your going to love it
@@OhioShaves thank you Bro!✌
💯
The exposed side tabs are deal-breaker for me
They can't be for some people. I can see that.
But comparing a Non Adjustable to an Adjustable isn’t fair comparison.
Like comparing a Bentley to a Malibu.
Sure they are both sedans…
Give the people what they want😀
Ohio shaves keeping your videos interesting and keep on making video🙎♂️🙋♂️🧑💻🪒
Thanks brother
Great videos but i don't really think you map your face and shave accordingly to your grain.
...wow 20 min to shave?
20 minutes to give you my thoughts
@@OhioShaves ...I'm 58 and I think shaving is important but you take it to a whole new level, that's all.
Start watching the video in 0.25 speed. :DD
😂
i can best like you and geofatboy and mark sweet old man

The 6s and 6C are lightyears better than the Henson. The Henson is the most overrated shaving gear we'll see for the next 50 years.. IMO.
Good to know
@@OhioShavesI recant that. The Nacet is plenty sharp just like the Wilkinson Sword and Kai.
The Rockwell will not thread onto the Henson
You missed a spot with that shaving cream, should do a few more passes 😉
😂
The problem I have with Rockwell is that their design isn't stable. The blades I use (gillete wilkinsons) dont line up properly on the 6C and 6S..
Every other razor I have from other companies works fine and auto stabalizes the blade center.. The rockwell is clearly flawed. Tried 3 of them.
I ended up on a razorock GC84.. and its best shaver I've used.
That's a first for me to read someone stating that the Rockwell are misaligned
@@OhioShaves Not just me.. Problem has been all over shave forums for years.
It took 14 business days for you to apply the soap the first time. Just saying. 😅
You caught me!🤣 the flow is better nowadays
and him from stirling soap company
👍
Henson need smaller head design. smaller shaving plane.
