As a Canadian, I do not understand the life term for justices to serve on the US Supreme Court! I think it is ridiculous!.In Canada, the Supreme Court justices retire at 75 years of age and can be removed for misconduct. Now, if Alito’s flag episodes are not misconduct then what is? He should be removed. Also Clarence Thomas should be removed for his grifting.

Regarding the New York conviction, the Supreme Court's decision will be brought up on appeal, after sentencing. This is terrible.
His contempt charges should STILL be punishable.

I have also in the 1970’s presided over more than 400 cases as a Superior Court Judge Pro-Tem in California, Civil and Criminal. Being as old as I am I know I probably will not live long enough to see the most terrible consequences of the Robert’s Court immunity case decision. Athens, the home of Democracy fell and many, many others over the centuries have fallen, and yet my extremely strong feelings about the USA militated against any feeling that Democracy in the USA would falter never entered my mind. I remember the feeling I had when I took the oath of a US Army Soldier( I was a medical laboratory technician serving in Japan and Korea. Those serving under Hitler took an oath to Hitler. I empathize with Justice Sotomayer who said she has wept over the decisions of SCOTUS. You both are outstanding and I follow you most assiduously. Thank you for your reviews of the madness. Hopefully for those who come after me this will overcome. We have to vote to keep him out.

Strong Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress and the Presidency. If we could get +18 or so seats in the Senate and retake the house, we could impeach every one of the Justices who so wrongly (intentionally) interpreted the Constitution. And/or expand the Court to 13 justices, one for each Judicial district. Then bring a case for them to revisit the verdict and reverse it.

Exactly - One of the tactics from the defense was to paint Michael Cohen as bitter because he was not made a part of the administration. Therefore, the checks to Cohen were absolutely not part of Trump's official duties.
Official act or not! a public servant as a president did criminal act (by the constitution and rule of law) then after the term,must arrest him. A president is one of the public servant. We the people pay a president’s salary. There is no exception.

My fear is if Biden does try to do something under this new ruling, the SCOTUS will twist it around again to punish him.
