i think that when talking about the story mode you should've mentioned that it's levels are like octo expansion, instead of the other games story modes
As a hardcore Splatoon player with tons of experience, this is the easiest game of the year decision I’ve ever made. All the little changes add up to make my favorite shooter of all time.
How the hell is this your favorite shooter? Nintendo (while they demonstrate it in their other games) doesn’t know how to incentivize you to play turf wars. After you play turf war a couple times, it already gets boring. Story mode, while quite fun, is very short, and takes place in an empty void for the THIRD TIME. There’s no new modes, matchmaking still is flawed, and there’s not enough new in this game. Leveling up is slow, you never get tags or nameplates from the shell-out-machine, and new items arrive every three months! That’s a long time! While some might not like it, weekly updates with new items, events, maps, and modes would really make this game amazing. Salmon Run and the lockers are cool, but incredible shooters such as Doom Eternal are infinitely better. That being said, Splatoon 3 is a huge improvement on splatoon 2 and is a really great switch game.
@@JudeKerman 1.) There are new modes, tricolour turf war, big run and tableturf battle. Even if you don't like them, they are new. 2.) Turf war isn't incentivised because it's more of a warmup/cool down mode where you can just have fun without worrying about ranks, which in and of itself is an incentive. 3.) Barren void??? Are we playing the same game? Alterna is an interesting world rich with lore and implications. 4.) You just have a skill issue with the shell out machine, I've gotten plenty of name plates and titles as well as tableturf card packs and concession tickets 5.) Use concession tickets to level up faster, you can get them in story mode 6.) What do you mean 'not new', there have been tonnes of graphical improvements and QoL changes. It's kinda ironic you compare this to Doom Eternal, when the only new stuff about it is the same stuff new with Splatoon 3, graphics and QoL

But this shooter is very unique, almost so much so that one could argue it's a completely different genre. It's not meant to compare or compete with other shooters, it's meant to provide Nintendo fans with a unique experience. I think you just have a short attention span and won't enjoy anything unless you can move around a supersonic speeds and see guts spill everywhere when you shoot something.
When you said that there are literally 0 new game modes, you should have at least mentioned Tableturf battle and not undermine tri-color since it's honestly very different from regular turf war to be considered a new game mode. But otherwise great review! 👍
@@TROBassGuitar They said that they would temporarily decrease the chances of tri-colors happening last splatfest while they rebalance it because there were a lot of people criticizing it. And also, much like the splatfest version of turf war in splatoon 2, they will probably add tri-color as a mode in private battles or even just a normal mode when splatfest end.
@@fortunemuderhwa9318 that's fine, but that's the only new mode and they basically made it so you play it like 5 times max during the only event it's playable, don't get me wrong, I already have at least 100 hours in 3, but I'm hoping they add a new ranked playlist at the very least, the maps are pretty sparse too, I just want the game to be better
@@TROBassGuitar There are 2 new modes. Tri-color and tableturf. Like I said, tri-color is so rare this season because they heard the fans and are trying to rebalance it. It's not supposed to be that rare. They also announced special modes for league battle post-launch. I think a new ranked mode in an update is very likely. And yes I also want the game to be better. Some maps like mahi-mahi resort need some major reworks. A lot of maps are too open and there are some really dumb decisions made regarding the splatoon 1 maps. Like in museum d'Alfonsino, they randomly removed a side path in rainmaker and tower control and they ruined mahi mahi resort and hammerhead bridge. Why didn't they just simply port over the most beloved splatoon maps??? Went on a little rant there, but I think they should prioritize fixing these maps because it's really sad to see the best maps in splatoon becoming some of the worst.

Splatoon is actually post apocalyptic because if you read the alterna logs it talks about the aftermath of the several world wars that caused the sea level to rise and inklings and octolings to come to land
I have to disagree with Splatoon 3's connection being decent. The delay for splatting somebody is SO BAD in this game. I constantly get killed behind walls, or trade when I should have gotten the kill. I don't have this problem with Splatoon 1 and 2, and I hope Nintendo fixes it soon.
Very very VERY much worth it, I will say that. Even before I got to play the Splatfest Premiere, the Splatoon Direct made me not wanna play Splat 2 anymore, with how much Splat 3 adds to make the experience waaaaaay better that a mere DLC cannot do. Even more so now that I've played Splat 3.
For me, the few disappointments that this game has don't really matter. I've played each Splatoon with hours upon hours poured into each, and this entry feels the most streamlined and accessible of all 3 games. The gameplay feels the best of all 3, it has my favorite single player campaign excluding Octo Expansion which isn't terribly fair to include since that was DLC, and overall it just feels way more balanced than any of the other games. The visuals have also received a significant upgrade, with the lighting effects in particular looking much more beautiful. It helps that I like Deep Cut even more than I liked Off the Hook.
I don't agree with the map thing. The maps allow for different weapon comps. This encourages the use of different weapons which us good so that people don't just use the same weapon and never get better. So the map rotations is a good thing.
Playing the same map every minute gets boring. I have to agree with the review on that. The same layout gets stale quickly. It's really the gameplay that carries it. The map selection is average at best.
Correction: there are 4 new weapons. The splatana wiper, the splatana stamper, the REEF-LUX 450, and the tri-stringer. Edit: please read replies before replying

Although I do think *MOST* could’ve been in a big splatoon2 update (but it wouldn’t had been as profitable for them, since it would’ve had to be free amongst other things) and still prefer splatoon2, I do enjoy this game very much.
Considering Splatoon 1 and Splatoon 2 were on different platforms it made sense to include everything from the original + more and good video about the game to watch.
if Splatoon 3 had everything from Splatoon 1 and 2 + more, buying Splatoon 1 and 2 would more redundant than distinct + great review thought about Splatoon 3. :)

The reason Splatoon 3 probably doesn't have new modes has probably something to do with the game trying to be an alternative to Splatoon 2 NOT a replacement.
There's so many bad things to say about this game, from the bad matchmaking system to the awful connection issues many players are facing. Personally this game is just too sweaty and frustrating for me to have fun playing it. After putting some time into it to try and improve my skills I just realized it doesn't matter at all, as the the terrible matchmaking system makes some matches literally unwinnable. What makes this game frustrating is just how awful it feels to lose a match, you basically don't get to play for the entirety of it. The story mode simply constists in a bunch of minigames and puzzles to solve with a few bosses here and there. The only mode I've been able to enjoy was Salmon Run, and even then it just gets ripetitive after a while. Not to mention how hard some waves can be making the game, again, frustrating. The concept of a post-apocalyptic world populated by sea creatures and the design choices behind the characters are really cool, but this is the third installment in the series and it's starting to get old now. This makes Splatoon 3 the worst shooter I've ever played, and I've played a few. Heck, the fact that there is no minimap still in this game pisses me off. Not to mention how poorly designed some stages are, and the fact that you can just camp by hiding in your ink and become completely invisible to the human eye makes for a frustrating experience.
I think TriColor should’ve been a Ranked mode. Could still be a part of Splatfest, like it is, but also playable in regular ranked. What we NEED is new stages made just for Splatfest. It’s been Sturgeon Shipyard both Splatfests. Boo. Some new stages with three-way symmetry would be ink-redible.
I’m convinced that Nintendo is under funding their online servers which explains why we only get a limited number of game modes/maps at any given time. They probably want to spend as little money as possible and just rake in 95% profit. The server warehouse is probably in the back of a Walmart or someshit
It's funny that you mention Call of Duty Zombies because that's what actually got me to buy Splatoon 3, and not the PVP experience. I was always gonna be a PVE guy, and I was content that I got really far in Salmon Run as a newbie to the series. It's just really fun, but it's missing that endless addiction I had with Zombies. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it would be fun especially with added multiplayer maps. It would also be nice if we could maybe customize our loadouts like Turf Wars, but the chances of that happening in an endless mode seems like low priority under Nintendo's radar. I hope I'm wrong though. Turf War is okay, and ranked just isn't for me honestly.
Clam blitz is kinda like football, except everyone’s playing qb. At the same time. And there is hundreds of footballs on the field at the same time. And you can only communicate with your team by saying “booyah” and “this way” and you get guns 😂

I’m so pissed off I can’t delete my data on Splatoon 3 and start fresh for once. I’m so tired of this bs I don’t understand why I can’t do one simple task. I hate what Nintendo did with this.
The tutorial made me think I was gonna go on an adventure with the little salmonid. Turns out it's all challenge based levels with some hubs to accompany it. A bit underwhelming, but I guess having a singleplayer mode in an online game has its pros and cons.
you did well to skip 2 for the most part it had the worst special spam,worst meta + it could take you up to 10.4 seconds(longest time in the game) which was very frustrating 3 is a good middle ground between the more punishing playstyle of 2 and the quick respawn meta of 1
The map rotation thing is... Weird, yes, but I do understand the logic behind it - I don't know if I agree with the logic, mind. Basically the idea is that you pick a weapon you think will work on the pair of maps in combination with the mode in question. Whereas if all maps were always available the meta might get staler faster. I think those of us who have a specific preference for a given mode (Tower in your case, the solo queue nightmare that is Clams in mine - While I love it, and only really play solo queue, I entirely get why a lot of people don't especially if they mainly play solo queue) are going to have a much easier time of it when League and X open since then they'll probably be cycling the four modes between the four styles of play) - Though in the Fortnite comparison... Back when I was playing it, Fortnite had a ton of modes you could only sometimes play. They'd just... Bring in a mode for a couple of weeks, have separate queues for it, and then discard it before bringing it back in a couple of months.
Since Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 are on the same system so including everything from Splatoon 2 but bigger and better would make Splatoon 2 have no reason to buy it.
i’d like to mention that apex legends rotates between maps too. however, it’s every 1 hour instead of 2 and being a battle royale the maps are so huge that u will never have the same experience anyways. i think the splatoon 3 devs saw the success of apex and tried to base the system off of it, and it didn’t go very well.
This is honestly a really good video of Splatoon 3 takes. Honestly the game to me just feels like Splatoon 2.6. The game’s still fun, and there’s about enough content to push it over the 2.5 mark, but there’s not enough new content to make it a true sequel. There should be more modes and weapons. Plus, I think they should’ve held this one until the launch of the next gen console.
Me like they went the same of last 2. But with only like 2 year of of updates they bring to many news guns should just stick to old=d or one more wave of guns like other 2 did.
No single word of the bad tick rate [edit], the new structure of anarchy mode, the new elements of salmon run, the new buying system, the splatcast, the problems of tricolor mode, the card game and a lot more. No like this time. :0

This review isn’t the best. It only really focuses on the negative and a lot of the gameplay footage from everywhere makes it look like it’s the same but you really have to play it to understand the difference.

These are my gripes about the game. First of all only 12 maps!? That’s stupid! S2 had 23 (I know over a course of many updates buts still). Not to mention that a lot of the maps that we have now are really flat and boring. There’s like 1 with moving interesting objects. Like why didn’t they just port the 23 maps from S2? Nintendo loves porting things from their old ideas and then charging full price. The same issue goes with the weapons. S2 had so many different variations of each weapon with like a grand total of over 115 weapons or something. S3 has like idk 45 or something. The other variants were great because you could use the same weapon, but with a special that you might like more. Also I don’t like the “Sheldon licenses”. You get 1 every time you level up so you really have to think about what you want. Like why can’t we just pay coins? And if the weapon is so valuable then charge 30k coins. Of course I’m disappointed that not a single new mode was added to ranked I mean come on. Something like a Hide and Seek mode would be so fun where one team covers the map for 1 minute and then hides in the ink. Then the other team has a certain amount of time to find them, and if they do, they have to kill the hiders or else the hiders will move to a new location. Salmon Run is basically the same thing with like 3 new boss salmonoids. A small thing that I’ve noticed is that you can’t see what level people are at in the game, only in the hub. I don’t understand that at all. I really hope Nintendo adds some new *interesting* maps soon because a good chunk of this game kind of feels like a downgrade from Splatoon 2. And this game is essentially paying $60 just to play with some new mechanics and weapons and with lobbies filling up in 40 seconds rather than 5 minutes in Splatoon 2 today. I still have fun in this game sure, but I really thought that we would finally get a really good Nintendo game since we haven’t really seen one since 2020. But nope. Also I really hate how the trailer had this cool looking desert with a train and characters, turns out all that was was the beginning cutscene and that’s it. And like 1% of the story mode. We can’t even explore that place like what a scam.
The maps in 2 suck ass and promote campy gameplay. This game is way more fast pass because of the level design. Also the license are way better since it rewards you for leveling up. Also this game is way better than 2, even competitive players agree

The fact that there's no infinite mode, or at least 10 rounds or something in salmon run is criminal.

I’m convinced that Nintendo is under funding their online servers which explains why we only get a limited number of game modes/maps at any given time. They probably want to spend as little money as possible and just rake in 95% profit. The server warehouse is probably in the back of a Walmart or someshit
They use a peer to peer connection based system, they don't have dedicated servers :P

It's funny that you mention Call of Duty Zombies because that's what actually got me to buy Splatoon 3, and not the PVP experience. I was always gonna be a PVE guy, and I was content that I got really far in Salmon Run as a newbie to the series. It's just really fun, but it's missing that endless addiction I had with Zombies. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it would be fun especially with added multiplayer maps. It would also be nice if we could maybe customize our loadouts like Turf Wars, but the chances of that happening in an endless mode seems like low priority under Nintendo's radar. I hope I'm wrong though. Turf War is okay, and ranked just isn't for me honestly.
Clam blitz is kinda like football, except everyone’s playing qb. At the same time. And there is hundreds of footballs on the field at the same time. And you can only communicate with your team by saying “booyah” and “this way” and you get guns 😂
Something I don’t like is the ink colors look so sad and gross and the hair color looks gross too

Now that I think of it, the initial marketing is very misleading as nothing really shows up after the initial startup tutorial
The tutorial made me think I was gonna go on an adventure with the little salmonid. Turns out it's all challenge based levels with some hubs to accompany it. A bit underwhelming, but I guess having a singleplayer mode in an online game has its pros and cons.

you did well to skip 2 for the most part
it had the worst special spam,worst meta + it could take you up to 10.4 seconds(longest time in the game) which was very frustrating
3 is a good middle ground between the more punishing playstyle of 2 and the quick respawn meta of 1
I recommend you to read the alterna logs in story mode.
The lore makes absolute no sense, but it's funny how Nintendo is preaching global warming and wars in their E rated titles.

The map rotation thing is... Weird, yes, but I do understand the logic behind it - I don't know if I agree with the logic, mind. Basically the idea is that you pick a weapon you think will work on the pair of maps in combination with the mode in question. Whereas if all maps were always available the meta might get staler faster.
I think those of us who have a specific preference for a given mode (Tower in your case, the solo queue nightmare that is Clams in mine - While I love it, and only really play solo queue, I entirely get why a lot of people don't especially if they mainly play solo queue) are going to have a much easier time of it when League and X open since then they'll probably be cycling the four modes between the four styles of play) - Though in the Fortnite comparison... Back when I was playing it, Fortnite had a ton of modes you could only sometimes play. They'd just... Bring in a mode for a couple of weeks, have separate queues for it, and then discard it before bringing it back in a couple of months.

i’d like to mention that apex legends rotates between maps too. however, it’s every 1 hour instead of 2 and being a battle royale the maps are so huge that u will never have the same experience anyways. i think the splatoon 3 devs saw the success of apex and tried to base the system off of it, and it didn’t go very well.
Ummm it's the same system as splatoon 1 which came out before apex. They just kept the same system that always had.

This is honestly a really good video of Splatoon 3 takes. Honestly the game to me just feels like Splatoon 2.6. The game’s still fun, and there’s about enough content to push it over the 2.5 mark, but there’s not enough new content to make it a true sequel. There should be more modes and weapons. Plus, I think they should’ve held this one until the launch of the next gen console.
It’s not 2.5. Watch a pro player dive into the game and they’ll tell you it’s way different from 2

These are my gripes about the game. First of all only 12 maps!? That’s stupid! S2 had 23 (I know over a course of many updates buts still). Not to mention that a lot of the maps that we have now are really flat and boring. There’s like 1 with moving interesting objects. Like why didn’t they just port the 23 maps from S2? Nintendo loves porting things from their old ideas and then charging full price. The same issue goes with the weapons. S2 had so many different variations of each weapon with like a grand total of over 115 weapons or something. S3 has like idk 45 or something. The other variants were great because you could use the same weapon, but with a special that you might like more. Also I don’t like the “Sheldon licenses”. You get 1 every time you level up so you really have to think about what you want. Like why can’t we just pay coins? And if the weapon is so valuable then charge 30k coins. Of course I’m disappointed that not a single new mode was added to ranked I mean come on. Something like a Hide and Seek mode would be so fun where one team covers the map for 1 minute and then hides in the ink. Then the other team has a certain amount of time to find them, and if they do, they have to kill the hiders or else the hiders will move to a new location. Salmon Run is basically the same thing with like 3 new boss salmonoids. A small thing that I’ve noticed is that you can’t see what level people are at in the game, only in the hub. I don’t understand that at all. I really hope Nintendo adds some new *interesting* maps soon because a good chunk of this game kind of feels like a downgrade from Splatoon 2. And this game is essentially paying $60 just to play with some new mechanics and weapons and with lobbies filling up in 40 seconds rather than 5 minutes in Splatoon 2 today. I still have fun in this game sure, but I really thought that we would finally get a really good Nintendo game since we haven’t really seen one since 2020. But nope. Also I really hate how the trailer had this cool looking desert with a train and characters, turns out all that was was the beginning cutscene and that’s it. And like 1% of the story mode. We can’t even explore that place like what a scam.
The maps in 2 suck ass and promote campy gameplay. This game is way more fast pass because of the level design. Also the license are way better since it rewards you for leveling up.
