    Thanks to Typeractive for sending me over this board to check out and build! They gave me a coupon "SCOTTOLILY58" to pass along that will get you 5% off for the next 2 weeks on typeractive.xyz

      start with a macropad. resist the urge to start split or start with a custom layout (like I'm doing right now)

    FYI, they do offer the acrylic for the Corne (at least, now they do). It looks a bit different but I love it. NGL I never ever buy sponsored stuff but I ended up going with Typeractive. They're great and involved in a lot of the open source HW development (like nice!nano). They're the only ones that offer all the surface mount stuff already attached w/ the wireless Corne board... at least that I could find. And its only a few bucks more than Boardsource's unsoldered board + all the parts.

    I have a question. I am a big fan of the IRIS keyboard. Why can the Lily58 NOT hide the chip/etc inside the PCB like the IRIS can. The IRIS has PCBs now with no big chip needed.. it's all embedded in to the PCB and its VERY nice. I love the Lily58 layout, even have a LULU version of it, but still prefer my IRIS. I'd love to try my hand at some custom Lily 3d printed cases but that big ass chip bugs me. I'd love for them to come up with a new PCB design that has the same or slightly altered layout (e.g. one extra key if they got rid of the space used for the chips on both halves) and tucked that chip inside the PCB so we no longer have to deal with it.

    • @joe_scotto
      @joe_scotto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The concepts for cases / plates remain the same regardless of if a PCB is used or not. The only real difference is that with a PCB you can often get away with making the case a bit thinner as you don't have to account for the wiring.

    • @peastfist1602

  • @Roobotics
    @Roobotics ปีที่แล้ว

    I can appreciate that they made the MCU/battery/screen one super small assembly.. but from an RF stand-point that's terrible, lol. Basically building a little faraday cage around the wireless transmitter. Probably still works reasonably fine though, so it's a poor faraday cage at least.

      nice!nano builds rely on one half typically. You can use the left on it's own but not the right as the left is what connects to the computer and the right sends data to that one then to the computer.

    • @joe_scotto

      This board doesn't have RGB. If it was, it would be highly dependent on the size of your battery so anywhere between a few minutes or a few days is likely.
