    The RS7 used to be my favorite Audi until I saw the RS5 Sportback in person. I liked it more because it's basically a smaller RS7 with a still usable amount of power.

      Thanks for your information. I did pay to fix it. My local Audi dealer could not do it well and they still charged me one thousand dollars. I have a 2015 A8L with the 4.0T engine and my turbos went out at 37,000 mi. and just out of Audi warranty. The good news is I have an extended warranty to 120,000 mi and 8 more years. I'm not understanding how the RS7 having 4 seats is an issue. It shouldn't be a deal breaker. If you got kids and many friends to shuttle around, that's not the car you should be shopping for. You need a Q7 or something like that. That to me is like saying Lamborghini is shorting you because they only have 2 seats in their Murciélago. I do agree with the power outlet concern though. In short, this isn't a "family car".

    • @G0ddEityawesome
      @G0ddEityawesome 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James David drove both. Completely different driving experience even with the same engine. The rs7 definitely is more sporty and feels more raw. I was not expecting the s8 to be so subtle in comparison but the upside is that the s8 is more comfortable and has more luxury. Again if you want something close to a sports car that is super quick in a straight line, rs7 is hands down better.

    • @Billaeon
      @Billaeon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@G0ddEityawesome I had a completely different experience. Drove an '17 S8 Plus and an '17 RS7 Performance back-to-back and disagree with the "sportiness" of the S8 Plus. That thing was a freaking beast. Once in Dynamic, the entire character of the car changed and was much more planted w/little-to-no body roll. Both cars were spec'd loaded with basically all options. Regarding straight-line performance: total toss-up between the two. With 600 ponies on tap, either one is a mid 11s car (stock) - there was no obvious difference between the two in straight line performance, even with the weight advantage of the RS7. Twisties goes to the RS7, but only just. The weight advantage of the RS7 is noticeable there. Considering the S8 is a limo-class car though, the fact that it is comparable to the RS7 in driving characteristics and performance is testament to how well the platform was developed.

    Hey Eddie,
    Did you take a look at the 2019 S7? Why did you choose to stick with the exiting models instead of waiting to see what the new RS7 will have as far as powertrain and performance?
    Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE this model and would buy one in a heartbeat if I had the money.

    Seems like you would’ve been happier with an a7 or s7. You’ll find performance cars like an RS or M car will make sacrifices in comfort and practicality for performance. Things like trackable breaks and weight reduction are actually benefits for many people.

    i have a 19 SQ5 with sport brakes,they don’t squeak but they make a grunting sound when I try to brake to a stop .2k miles into it now and it still does it. Dealer said its normal but it’s annoying.

    6 series GC actually has a three seat bench. It was the only one in its class to have that option. But the new CLS has it now too. At least in the UK markets

    Hi Eddie, since you have driven the Urus, do you think the rs7 drives similar to it and which one would you rather have if given money is no objection?

    • @EddieX
      @EddieX  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think they feel that similar. The powertrain is close but the Lamborghini felt a bit more intense. If money was no object, I'd have an Urus in my garage

    My IS 300 F Sport has similar brake issues - they squeak when cold and produce tons of dust. I'd still stick with the OE semi-metallic pads for the added performance.

    The gauze on the the turbos are a design flaw... Unless cleaned they will block and eventually the turbine will strip itself if not getting enough oil.

    Hi Eddie,
    perhaps this is infra-dig to mention and you're already all over it, but in regard to that oil starvation from sludge risk issue. I've found the PAO-ester based engine oils far less prone to that than premium synthetics that are not PAO-ester based. Taking the NOACK evaporation index parameter as a guide, the PAO-ester type oils record at the low end but not by that much. So what's the big deal? However when considered against "normal" consumption of engine oil over the change interval the PAO-ester oil is consumed at near ~1/5 the rate. In my Audi that "consumption" is a difference of 60-70ml's to 280-300ml over 7,000kms. Something think about with your enthusiast buddies. My main concern came from reducing GDI inlet port coking and avoiding sludge that prematurely kills the cam chain guides/tensioners (that's also a monster job and cost).

    The main reason I didn't get a used S6 was because everyone said the turbos failed. I guess that scared me enough for me to stop pursuing it. I guess I should've done more research if only that level of preventative maintenance is enough to prevent them from blowing up.
    Still one of my biggest regrets...
