One of my favorite cars right now. Not my choice of exhaust however and I definitely wouldnt have it lowered. Rubbing on a $130, 000 car is UNACCEPTABLE.
You can certainly lower an RS7 without rubbing. But that car is probably set up for cruising and has never been subjected to the cornering forces of canyon carving.
I've watched a ton of your videos that whatever was clacking around in the cupholder was super annoying and I could not finish this video. It is definitely a one take but it only takes one second to remove whatever it is from the cupholder and put it somewhere it won't ruin audio.
I feel like the mic super imposed the noise a bit, I can imagine it didn't sound quite that obnoxious in first person. Still unfortunate though for an otherwise interesting one take... Subtract the sinfully too big for an awd Audi, rims lol
I don't understand how shops like this exist if all they do is fit off the shelf parts onto cars, especially considering the springs they fit now make the car rub. Maybe I should open a shop too because it seems very easy.
One of the best looking modern sedans ever in my opinion, sure it's boring how Audis have looked kind of similar for the past 10 years, but man they sure got it right.
Matt, you forgot to play with the buttons, surely that akrapovic exhaust can sound much better than that. there is a video with a TAG RS7 with akrapovic sounding like a beast.
+TheSmokingTire same exact menu as any other new Audi. You can also control the suspension and throttle response. Good thing for a reviewer who has driven countless Audi's to know.
Maybe the owner has crazy neighbors but still wanted performance, hence it only works in quiet mode :). Anyway, keep up the good work for all of us to watch these amazing cars.
Another great video Matt. Quick question; do you think you could include a quick interview with the manufacturers at the end of films like this? Wouldn't change the format for die hard fans, but would add a lot of information. Anyway, keep the vids coming brother. Love em all.
i'm guessing it's pretty hard to get the head of manufacturing or a top mechanic to explain their jnnovations. probably a separate video somewhere. its just not in the nature of one takes, matt probably wont start doing that now as one takes have been aroune a long time
How would it be wasting anyone's time? If you don't want to watch it then move on when it comes up. Or, real shocker here, have said person from the tuner ride in the car with Matt.
rbeaton16 it would neuter the genuine nature of the one-take - maybe Matt would not be able to be honest in his review - a feature that is a standout for his work.
Was gonna say I saw the new(ish) 5-series twin turbo V8 motor at the workshop and it had that setup. Tightly packed, very little piping, looks very efficient and an absolute PITA to work on as I saw it being rebuilt...
Hey Matt, this is a wonderful excuse for you to drive one of these in Germany on a derestricted autobahn without traffic! And then it's pretty awesome in the corners too!
Wtf is that noise that keeps banging back and forth!?!?! A penny?!?! And btw digging the new closeups and video showing the car before it was too fast :p
Really curious as to what the advantages of the GIAC tune are over the APR? APR seems to give the car more power and is more backed by Audi. My father has an RS7 and we're trying to decide what the better option is tuning wise.
who in their right mind would even consider a tesla when you can still get these kind of cars, enjoy internal combustion while you can is the motto i live by, even though i drive a 40 year old vespa. loved the one take.
teslas arent meant for hard driving. they're a city car, commuter car. you could have a tesla and have incredible cars just look at Salomondrin youtube channel and youll see.
Dacrazy-can Yeah which uses copious amount of fuel, car needs oil, coolant, etc. etc. maintenance etc. repairs and on and on. The Tesla needs almost nothing. For my car, fuel alone costs me between US 9-14 cents per mile. Tesla owners have worked out electricity costs to be around 3-4 cents per mile.
i normally could care less about cars like this. big sedans with crazy power. but after seeing one up close in real life i just thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Ours seems to be much louder and doesnt rub (not even close it seems), does it have aftermarket exaust/different suspention? Also are those 21'' weels? I think i like the factory black/silver 21's better.. at least on mine since she's black
Matt, what does one have to do to get a gig such as yours? What a dream job man. Looks like a blast. Talk about looking fwd to going to work every day!
My 8 speed APR A6 is at 452hp and apparently 470 on race gas. I had no idea the RS6/7 can be tuned at 700hp. That might be an epic replacement for mine down the road. Mine is already a bit much for the road in sport mode. It does have understeer under hard cornering still though, even with a thicker rear sway bar and Michelin Pilot Supersports.
Very quiet (on the inside at least) car. I may be odd, but I find I'm enjoying the One Takes of ordinary owner cars much more than the pro shop or press cars.
It's fun later when we in Europe get winter and the salt eats up the rear fenders of your new RS7 because the tires ate up all the paint ;) Never in my life, how rich I ever would be, would I drive the car with that rub :P
The cup holder is louder than the exhaust. I was really looking forward to this review. exterior camera would be good just to compare sound. Don't take this personally, I really enjoy the reviews.
Love all of your videos and reviews Matt... Have you ever experimented with polarization filters for your cameras? I think it would kill a lot of the glare that bounces of the dash to the windshield... Ask Dillon Optics if they can supply/produce filters for your gopros!!!
+TheSmokingTire Agreed...I know it hasn't been easy with audio and glad its sorted. The rs7 kind of makes me think of what a Tesla model S would be like with a fossil burner. Cool stuff. Thumbs up Matt
I wish there was a way for you to legally add a side window with a Tach/Speed gauge! I know you would get in trouble, but would be awesome to see how fast you are going and how fast the engine revs up.
Couser Canyon is like 30 minutes from Encinitas. More like Valley Center. It's a good road though for something small... Not for a giant car like that. Honestly pretty impressed with how it handled it. I've hustled down that road really fast in several cars. It's hard to get the feel for just how damned tight those corners are.
The engines have the same 90mm bore spacing. The V10 has two more cylinders than the V8, but the V8 has two turbos, intercooler system, and associated plumbing. Weight specs are not available for either engine, so any comparison is purely conjecture. Regardless, I'd gladly trade a little more understeer on an already heavy car for an 8500rpm NA V10 making similar power.
+TheSmokingTire great video thank you. Love the RS7, would you consider doing a RS6 either a C6 or a C7? Might be a bit of overkill seeming that the C7 RS6 and RS7 have the same engine. But a one take on a tuned C6 RS6 would be great. Cheers Matt
Very nice car...seems like a rocket ship. Rims are too big though, and stanced cars that are meant to go fast is stupid - they will rub and you should slap yourself every time that happens in your car.
Bigger wheels =/= Stanced. This car is not even remotely in the same universe as a "stanced" car. Please further educated yourself before making such a comment. The people who built(tuned) this car aren't stupid.
rbeaton16 it is slammed on huge wheels. Seems stanced to me - although yes it is not an extreme example of that idiotic trend. Perhaps slammed is a better word for it. Both are very stupid things to do to a performance car.
@ ChaosphereIX The RS7 comes with 21s. Lowering it is what causes the rubbing. I have 295/30r21s on my RS7 and the only way it rubs is if I hit a speed bump.
holy fuck take the things out of the cup holders
Glad I'm not the only one who can't stand things rattling around while driving.
yep. tic tock tick tock tick tock.. click away from video at about 4m
This. I couldn't even watch the whole video, the loud tick tock was too much.
Holy Beautiful
wtf....
That cupholder is too damn loud!!
+1
+4
+245
+288
Oh damn forgot about this vid, its still too damn loud
One of my favorite cars right now. Not my choice of exhaust however and I definitely wouldnt have it lowered. Rubbing on a $130, 000 car is UNACCEPTABLE.
You can certainly lower an RS7 without rubbing. But that car is probably set up for cruising and has never been subjected to the cornering forces of canyon carving.
+Joey Kissinger he said it's lowered for a show
I realize its for a show and it does look nice the way they did it. I just cringe every time I hear that lol.
Its lowered for looks, it probably won't be moving all that much during the show so I assume it doesn't matter lol
theses cars can adjust suspension from the dash ...
I've watched a ton of your videos that whatever was clacking around in the cupholder was super annoying and I could not finish this video. It is definitely a one take but it only takes one second to remove whatever it is from the cupholder and put it somewhere it won't ruin audio.
Amen to that! I too could not finish watching the video. I can't stand rattles!!
I feel like the mic super imposed the noise a bit, I can imagine it didn't sound quite that obnoxious in first person. Still unfortunate though for an otherwise interesting one take... Subtract the sinfully too big for an awd Audi, rims lol
For an acropovic exhaust, it really sounds unimpressive. Overall, gorgeous car 👍🏽
miltek sounds much better
+Fgamery word...miltek on audi is the best...got one on my v8 s4 and she rox!
probably had the valves closed
Nope, Milltek for RS6. A good RS7 owner install Capristo exhaust
I can speak first hand the Akrapovic sounds amazing on a RS7, the setting must have been set to comfort mode, which closes the valves.
All the cars settings were on Dynamic
hmm then the mic just didn't pick up the true sound. I have damn near the identical set-up as TAG's and the exhaust is a beast.
I have honestly never heard a bad sounding Akrapovic exhaust. They are masterful engineers and musicians of exhaust notes.
+Raven05R6 exactly
Well, it sounded super quiet when I was standing outside the car too. So I don't know what the deal was, but that's how it sounds.
Jeez did they forget to actually install the Akrapovic system? I've heard stock RS7s make more noise. Hm, odd.
way too quiet. takes half the fun out of watching the video.
Upping the boost means the turbo is taking more energy out of the exhaust...
I was just thinking, Damn 700hp but what's the fun if you can't hear it?
+Richard Harrold lol
different intake too.
Matt, you're one of the most consistent and trustful journalists out there. Always a pleasure, and keep up the good work!
I don't understand how shops like this exist if all they do is fit off the shelf parts onto cars, especially considering the springs they fit now make the car rub. Maybe I should open a shop too because it seems very easy.
TAG Motorsports has a huge volume business doing blackout packages for dealer new cars. The fast stuff is just for fun.
+TheSmokingTire Can you or someone else explain what blackout pages for dealerships are?
+district5rookie where you take the chrome on the car and black it out.
+TheSmokingTire Oh duh, I read that as "pages" for some reason haha. Thanks.
Because the people that buy these just want to show off. They just want to write a check and be done. They're barely enthusiasts.
One of the best looking modern sedans ever in my opinion, sure it's boring how Audis have looked kind of similar for the past 10 years, but man they sure got it right.
Nah, it is way too big.
+zemekiel I don't like big cars and I think this car is perfect
"Sorry wheel wells" I see what you did there.
LOL didn't notice that til I read this
I dont get it :(
+SanamK Go check your wheel well. See if Matt is there... LOL
+Daniel Young go watch an old one take, you'll figure it out.
+Daniel Young Sorry fam
That thing looks absolutely bad ass.
How many takes does it take to make a one take?
7.
More than you can afford, pal.
+Jason Bourne ferrari.
"smoke erm"
+Jason Bourne This isn't reddit, but if I could give you gold I would have.
I see what you did there.
Beautiful RS7 and those rims look great on it!
Something about how Audi does that grey... It's such a beautiful color!
It sounds like there is something in the cup holder moving back and forth when he is turning .
he literally says that at the start of the video
+Harry Decamp sorry on my end I missed that damn internet here is shit.
"that's it, now we're settled" KA-KLUNK!
Matt, you forgot to play with the buttons, surely that akrapovic exhaust can sound much better than that. there is a video with a TAG RS7 with akrapovic sounding like a beast.
+PaulGIS if there are buttons I wasn't shown them. The car was in max performance mode.
+TheSmokingTire same exact menu as any other new Audi. You can also control the suspension and throttle response. Good thing for a reviewer who has driven countless Audi's to know.
+Bob Marley in that case, there are no buttons to make the exhaust louder. Everything was in dynamic mode
Maybe the owner has crazy neighbors but still wanted performance, hence it only works in quiet mode :). Anyway, keep up the good work for all of us to watch these amazing cars.
the akrapovic exhaust on rs7 is so s**t, there are more brutal sounding exhaust than this one ... you pay only for the make
I love that chuckle there in the middle. I want one.
Another great video Matt. Quick question; do you think you could include a quick interview with the manufacturers at the end of films like this? Wouldn't change the format for die hard fans, but would add a lot of information. Anyway, keep the vids coming brother. Love em all.
we all know how the interviews will go...no need to waste anyone's time really with marketing blabbering
i'm guessing it's pretty hard to get the head of manufacturing or a top mechanic to explain their jnnovations. probably a separate video somewhere. its just not in the nature of one takes, matt probably wont start doing that now as one takes have been aroune a long time
How would it be wasting anyone's time? If you don't want to watch it then move on when it comes up. Or, real shocker here, have said person from the tuner ride in the car with Matt.
rbeaton16 it would neuter the genuine nature of the one-take - maybe Matt would not be able to be honest in his review - a feature that is a standout for his work.
With cars like these, I would love to hear what the manufacturers have to say about them. Just stick it in at the end.
BMW pioneered the turbo-in-the-valley design. Also came up with the odd firing order for smoother exhaust gas flow into the turbo. Pretty neat stuff.
Was gonna say I saw the new(ish) 5-series twin turbo V8 motor at the workshop and it had that setup. Tightly packed, very little piping, looks very efficient and an absolute PITA to work on as I saw it being rebuilt...
Yea very efficient, very little lag considering what it is, and also very complex.
It was really annoying!
Loved the video, don't know why so many people are complaining.
Hey Matt, when we gonna see that beautiful murdered out turbo that was parked in the vid? And as always great review! Keep up the great work!
That was the C4 GTS I aired it last week
+TheSmokingTire Ah yes! it's true! Thanks for the reply.
I reakky wish they sold the rs6 avant in north america, one of my favorite cars. But this thing is cool too.
Really curious as to what the advantages of the GIAC tune are over the APR? APR seems to give the car more power and is more backed by Audi. My father has an RS7 and we're trying to decide what the better option is tuning wise.
Stunning looks the rs7 has
Lol, when you floor it and let out a silent "fuck" to yourself. Crazy car.
Possibly the quietest one take ever :) Looks like a beast though for sure.
nice video to watch on my birthday
Made my day! Been waiting for another RS7!
who in their right mind would even consider a tesla when you can still get these kind of cars, enjoy internal combustion while you can is the motto i live by, even though i drive a 40 year old vespa. loved the one take.
yeah man I agree, petrol engines have souls, electric ones don't, besides this thing probably can go 210-220mph a tesla tops out at 150
yes please tell us how many times you plan to or would be able to exceed 150 mph.
teslas arent meant for hard driving. they're a city car, commuter car. you could have a tesla and have incredible cars just look at Salomondrin youtube channel and youll see.
+Patrick94GSR i usually cruise at 120-130
Dacrazy-can
Yeah which uses copious amount of fuel, car needs oil, coolant, etc. etc. maintenance etc. repairs and on and on. The Tesla needs almost nothing. For my car, fuel alone costs me between US 9-14 cents per mile. Tesla owners have worked out electricity costs to be around 3-4 cents per mile.
have i just heard someone pronounce Akrapovic correctly? i salute you Matt
Badass car but Damn! The stuff in the cup holder lol.
i normally could care less about cars like this. big sedans with crazy power. but after seeing one up close in real life i just thought it was the coolest thing ever.
SDD525 false. Idiom.
SDD525 idiom.
Is there a pinball in the cupholder???
clack clack clack
I feel you on the temperature. It's 101 degrees in northeast Florida right now.
Looking forward to many many more videos of your new Focus RS, maybe even a second channel dedicated to all videos of the focus rs!!
I'm sorry, but that would be the most boring channel ever. Variety is the spice of life.
Ours seems to be much louder and doesnt rub (not even close it seems), does it have aftermarket exaust/different suspention? Also are those 21'' weels? I think i like the factory black/silver 21's better.. at least on mine since she's black

WHAT BEAUTY...

That cupholder noise drives me absolutely nuts man
Does this Rs7 wrapped? Or it's a stock color? It's so beautiful!!!!!!!!
Like the video games! A live GPS map in the corner of this video would be awesome!
fell in love with those particular wheels, that gray and Vossen Red colors would drop panties I bet lol
"Wow, ok... there's jail time" LMAO!
Matt, could you arrange a One Take of a 2017 Ford Fusion Sport? 2.7 TT engine, AWD, and a CCD suspension sound like an appealing package
Very quiet (on the inside at least) car.
I may be odd, but I find I'm enjoying the One Takes of ordinary owner cars much more than the pro shop or press cars.
Thank you for pronouncing Ah-krop-oh-vich properly :)
One of my dream cars
Seems like such a nice car and tune... why stance it? =\
Cause it's the owner's preference.
EminentLine
So he likes it to rub, huh. 700hp car and no sense.
for the car show, probably after the car show he raises it up a little
J. Martinni Doesn't rub going down the highway. It only barely rubbed in real tight corners. It's not the end of the world.
It's fun later when we in Europe get winter and the salt eats up the rear fenders of your new RS7 because the tires ate up all the paint ;) Never in my life, how rich I ever would be, would I drive the car with that rub :P
That whispered "fuuck" @ (7:40) was all I needed... Thanks Matt!!
This is one of the, if not the sexiest car I've seen
RS7 is king, HAIL TO THE KING!
Ask Dillon Optics if they can supply/produce filters for your gopros!!!
haha it's so satisfying to watch Matt going "ooo" and "aaaaah" an entire video on a German car knowing how reserved he normally is
Is this the same drive train as the RS6? (i.e. ZF box?) Looks fast but not a drivers special is it.
Yes, the RS7 and RS6 (and S8) Share a powertrain.
+TheSmokingTire thanks Matt. Whatever mic your using now is working awesome. Even picks up the sound of a fiat 500 ratting in the cup holder ;-)
+xenfreder better to hear too much than too little
+TheSmokingTire Agreed...I know it hasn't been easy with audio and glad its sorted. The rs7 kind of makes me think of what a Tesla model S would be like with a fossil burner. Cool stuff. Thumbs up Matt
they're all ZF 8HP90
That color is badass
RS6 looks so much better than the RS7. Every time I see one while in Europe I question why in the world Audi sells the RS7 but not the RS6 in the US.
why wouldn't we get an rs4 wagon???
+Strength&Valor they don't sell that one either in the US.
Because the people who hate wagons here love SUVs and trucks
Akrapovic exhaust on the RS7 is so loud and beastly. Did you just leave all the settings in comfort+quiet
No, full Dynamic
I wish there was a way for you to legally add a side window with a Tach/Speed gauge! I know you would get in trouble, but would be awesome to see how fast you are going and how fast the engine revs up.
Look's down at the speedometer and says, "Wow that's jail time.". Lol! Catchy phrase. :D
This IS A BEAST MAN!!
dude that shit flopping around THO! i missed most of what you were saying I was so ADDed by the click click.
Amazing looking car
8:13 "Did I kill a bird? no, I think it lived" Its okay, you just maimed it for life haha
Very quiet tho, something is wrong. If this has an exhaust and it sounds like a quiet fart can. Valves must be closed ye?
would be nice if they were adjustable, but it just adds to the sleeper factor of the car...and might avoid a ticket or two as well
I wasn't shown two modes for the exhaust. I don't think it has valves.
They're just really really well sound insulated. It sounds pretty good on the outside.
I have a 450hp A6 and you can whisper in it at 200 km/h.
Just tipped you over to the 1000 likes yayyy. Great vid.
Matt can you do a review on a Tuned Audi RS5 please will be greatly appreciated.
are people getting anything out of the RS5 with just a tune? That motor needs forced induction to make any kind of real power.
I guess you have a point seems like APR is doing fine with the RS5 or try and find one that's Supercharged I believe APR has a kit for the RS5
Love the RS7. I'd love it even more with the R8's V10.
You don't know that.
Cheers Matt
I have an Audi A7 and an obsession with the body style but whatever was in those cup holders drew me away from the video in less than a minute.
Perfect everyday car!
i love it the tiptronic audi transmissions
I love high HP cars that are quiet, no need to compensate for anything.
this is definitely my dream car 😭
Ahh Matt stupid question what's the best sport sedan available now if you hit the lottery?
I was beyond excited for this until I heard how quiet it is and then the rubbing?!...man,not cool.
Damn that car looks good!
I will have this bad boy one day!
Matt, your laugh at 6:44 is great! (It made my day.... yea, I'm bored)
Encinitas looks an awful lot like Valley Center. Really like that light gray color.
My favourite car of the full size "Autobahnsturmers"..
Matt, how would you rate this car (in stock form) against a Cadillac CTS V?
My dream car...
What a beautiful missile Matt!
The rubbing reminds of that Prius from last year
Did they put a quieter exhaust on??
Dont think the exhaust was on its best setting? Valves closed?
What is the name of the peak , I heard you said Encinitas California.
great road
"oh woahhhh theres jail time, I'm a bad ass" -every time he reviews a car
If you're going to use quotation marks, you have to actually get what's inside the quotation marks correct.
+rbeaton16 they made it rub the wheel well so yeah it's setup is fukt
rbeaton16 it is slammed on huge wheels. Seems stanced to me - although yes it is not an extreme example of that idiotic trend. Perhaps slammed is a better word for it. Both are very stupid things to do to a performance car.
+ChaosphereIX I think it's temporary for an upcoming show event.
@ ChaosphereIX
The RS7 comes with 21s. Lowering it is what causes the rubbing. I have 295/30r21s on my RS7 and the only way it rubs is if I hit a speed bump.
The mic must be very close to the cupholder. It's quite loud bangs, from that coin or whatever it is, but Matt can't hear it. Thanks for the vid.
What road in Encinitas is this?
Courser canyon is temucla
Is there a marble in the cup holder or something...
