Even before Ray Dalio said it, I've been saying Bitcoin's disadvantage is that it's impractical to use as a currency. The price is so volatile that vendors will have difficulty pricing their goods in Bitcoin. The second issue is that governments will never allow Bitcoin to replace fiat. Being able to control a nation's money supply is an important tool in wielding power and controlling people. The trend is for governments to increase more power over the state, not the other way around.
Also it's worth noting that at this point, Bitcoin trades like equities because of so much speculative activity and it's a risk asset that goes down when equities go down. People who think owning Bitcoin will somehow hedge their stock portfolio are crazy. It's a hedge against fiat and gold.

Recently Tesla was far more volatile.
I owned Bitcoin for a while, but sold it to buy Tesla last year. Didn't regret it. Long term I still see huge potential, but I got tired of waiting.

Bitcoin is volatile because of small market cap. Easy to manipulate.. as per Raoul Pal (real vision).. it should start stabilising once it’s past 150k..

USA just cuts off countries from swift that allow bitcoin transactions. That would send bitcoin south close to 0. Don't get me wrong I'm long bitcoin too and think the technology is great, but thinking a ban wouldn't affect the worth of bitcoin is really naive imo. As well as thinking governments would allow alternative currencies.

@@baljeet7217 true, I understand that. But they can forbid possession or exchange for example. That would make it impossible for institutional investors to get in. And that would take a lot of liquidity out of the market. Same with gold... You can forbit it and some people will still keep it. But this would affect the price a lot. Of course you can't cancel bitcoin and it's gone but governments can make things really complicated. And I see times coming where governments will want to have more control not less.
Just legislate, ban or prosecute the exchange sites, worst case they go the way of piratebay.
You might argue you can still use it but without trading sites it's not great for speculation and out of reach for normies.
Bitcoin doesn't have a future, for black money the record is too public, it survives on notoriety alone.
The exchanges are corrupt as hell too, they generate a lot of bs trades to give the appearance of large volumes being traded but they just trade back and forth to control the price.

This guy is so sharp and I completely agree with his thesis. I will allocate 5% of my portfolio as well. I also never noticed before in cashapp that you can buy bitcoin so I tested it and bought some. It was super easy so good for the masses to start adopting it. Good video, the only thing that bothers me, is that you are quoting Anthony Pomp, I've listened to him quite a lot to hear the bitcoin bull case, yet his explanations are empty in my opinion, not solid at all. Watch Dave Lee's interview with Pomp, the guy raises the most important questions, yet Pomp answers are really BS. My question is what made you feel confident to invest in Bitcoin? you say "the mass adoption" but isn't that just FOMO?

Get the book called Crypto currencies for dummies. Brilliant insight into the crupto market and where it is going.
If Bitcoin repeats its bullrun pattern, it will far outpace all other assets. It doesn't make sense to see the huge potential of Bitcoin but only invest 1%.

@@gehtdichnixan4704 I understand your explanation there - I've also seen commentary about how rocket propulsion technology of Virgin Galactic can cut long distance air travel to a 1/3 of the time. It may take years, of course, but most of the market speculation anyways. I've heard that Tesla isn't even a profitable company yet, but it trades at such an enormous value. As for HyperLoop, yes, I agree that high speed rail would be more acceptable, but who in the US is doing High Speed railway? The HyperLoop concept is something that can be exported to many nations with highly congested cities, where vehicle traffic is painstakingly dense and annoying. It's something that could possibly be an alternative to subway service. I just see SPCE as a company that has potential to be very tradable. Scalable or not, it's bit wise to bet on NYSE for the long term right now anyways. Eventually everything will be tokenized.

Fiat derives its value by decree. Monopoly money is fiat because it isn’t backed by anything. Bitcoin is fiat as well, it’s just digits on a screen with a good story. I’d rather own real things that are based in reality that I can actually use or that have history of retaining value.

@@sahilhussain9 yeah, thanks Sahil, I’m aware of the pitfalls and history of fiat, but what I mean is that bitcoin isn’t different than these other fiat currencies. I’d rather hold things that have utility in real life like silver, copper, real estate, not some construction of the human mind. Believe me, technology eventually, is going to work its way into the efficient transfer of these assets and when that happens, what will I need bitcoin for. Something backed by anything is better than nothing backed by nothing.

I'm a donkey bought Eth at 6.07. Dec. 2016 thousands of them and sold all of them at $30 except one and I sold the last one at $450.

As long as you don't plan to sell it, the price you bought in at will become less and less relevant over time. The key is to hold it long term.
If you are a real chicken gang member you will know the mantra, ‘time in market is better than timing the market’ and ‘don’t be a dondondon don🔑. All the best investing!

Here’s the question : did your house go up in price because of inflation OR appreciation ? There’s a big difference.
can you guys explain the stupidity? By definition it appreciates which is largely due to appreciation, but your money is beating inflation assuming you use leverage cause say you use an fha loan and put 20k into a 500k house and it appreciates 2% in the next year you gain 10k in equity or 50% return on money
Actually it’s because the $ has devalued so in present currency buying power terms your house is worth eg $500K but 20 years ago it was worth $250K

but its still a good investment when you have others pay the mortgage especially cause you get the inflation on the whole asset not just ur downpayment

@@ChickenGeniusSingapore theres some findings that 4 million coins are lost forever due to owners losing their private keys, hence the total usable bitcoins are lesser than 21 million
The hype was real a few years ago too.
BitCoin keeps doing that. It did that multiple times. The fact is almost everything at its start does that, fear-greed cycles.

I don’t know how I feel about this video. I watched and love all your previous videos. But I have different view on cryptos. I sold most of my btc and cryptos during peak Dec 2017 and made some before crash in Jan 2018.
First, Btc is initially intended to replace currencies. But its not working as planned because of volatility. We don’t want to spend 0.000001 btc to buy coffee today valued at $4, and the day after $8.
Second, there’s higher risk to hold crypto than stock as long term investment. The exchange can closed its business and run away with our money, you wallet/exchange can be hacked, you might loss your wallet and never recover your crypto, etc.
Saying all that, I don’t see its a good idea of holding BTC for another 10-20 years as long term investment.
What’s great about btc is the technology behind it, Blockchain. Blockchain is game changing. But my view has changed for Btc as per my reasoning above.
I guess I will stick with TSLA for 10x in 10 years.

The last lesson from professor CGS was we need a full candle above the 450 resistance line. Not much since that video. A nice base of 400 to 450 built so the longer this lasts the bigger the break out ( thats break up saying it's TSLA) yeoooooo

I was an investor in cryptocurrencies during the Bull run of 2017, and witnessed the huge Bitcoin crash from $19k all the way down to $6k. It hurt. The low float allows Bitcoin to be easily manipulated by "whales" (holders of a large amount of btc). What is your response to this?

Whales are net buyers in 2020. If they at some point convert to net sellers, there will be a lot of demand matching the sell pressure. At some point, every whale will run out of bitcoin if they keep selling. It is know that for certain price levels within a short time period, whale movements can indeed affect the price. Long term it doesnt matter.
Whales will eventually sell to institutions who are buying in heaps

I’m a Bitcoin holder since 2016. And going to sell it all. Just one simple question, how can the “BTC” be useable if the price keeps fluctuating? No one want to spend.
It’s not possible. Bitcoin now is viewed more as a safe haven asset like Gold or Silver. With all the fees and volatility attached to bitcoin it’s not feasible to be used to as everyday currency.
I sold all my stocks and went all in to bitcoin and other cryptos earlier this year. I love Tesla and Square, but I think BTC and other cryptos are going to outpace both TSLA and SQ during this bull run, and I'll be using my gains to buy more TSLA and other stocks from the gains at the end of the bull run :D
this is my plan also! still hurts to see old holdings soar while bull run heats up, but I am still bullish that it was the right move

My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. Problem with bitcoin is despite there being a cap on how much there is, there is still an unlimited amount of other digital currencies that can come up and could end up functioning better than bitcoin. What are your thoughts on competing digital currencies? Meanwhile gold is a commodity that actually exists in the real world and its value is not determined arbitrarily as it has real world application in tech and same goes with other real world assets such as silver. Isnt there something to say for an asset to hold against inflation that actually exists in the real world?

I think this misses a bit of the effect Bitcoin has enjoyed. A bit like asking US Citizens why they use USD when there are so many other competing currencies out there? I saw: "What is the value of facebook? A lot. What is the value of the 4th largest social networking site that copies facebook? Nothing". But agreed, and it's more complicated than that. Would love some thoughts. Or a longer/new videos from Chicken, on BTC.

@@eldarm1853 yes me too. I see your point. The only thing is I have to say is that its not like people are making many transactions for goods using bitcoin anyway. So this would make sense if bitcoin was used in stores and what not but as of now its as if there isnt a completely dominate social network and even though bitcoin is most popular its not as dominant as facebook is compared to others.
