It seems like they want to use this on older planets as well. Like I would expect that they will redo the biomes on Microtech for example, as they already showed off the new forest density on Microtech in that example. After that I would guess all these new biomes like Swamps only make sense on Terra itself, as the other planets are not supposed to have such biomes according to the lore. That means it could take another 2-4 years, since we first get Pyro next year, then probably 1 year later or in the same year Nyx (as it is a small system and most interior was already finished) and then we would get Castra (which might come with some redwood biome, idk) and then in 3-4 or more years I would expect Terra (as it has a vast city and multiple PoIs and will be one of the more difficult planets/systems to create.

How long has gta 6 been in development? Just curious. Also compare what gta has, and compare was star citizen has. Gta 6 10 years, still in developement building 1 city, improved technologies created from their own engine that was created in 2006 called RAGE (gta 6 is using rage version 9 ) this is a huge company with way more money than CIG, and still hasnt release a game that only has 1 city in it. Star citizen and sqaudron 42 2 games being created at the same time since 2012 Star citizen currently has 4 planets with 4 major cities. A handfull of moons, space stations.. invented brand new technologies never been created before, jump away from cryo engine 3 becuase of limitations, and had no choice but to create a brand new engine. Squadron 42 is a single player with a fully written campaign and story line. Lets not forget everything that star citizen has, will also be in the single player game as well. Thats not even half of whats been done. But to still be upset about this game not being out with everything that you just seen is ridiculous, or you really dont understand anything that goes on in the development world.

They explain in the lore than terraformed planets are terraformed using earth plants. But I’m sure they’ll add more alien plants in the future. Like the ones you see in pyro.
Fun fact, Unreal Engine 5 is in no way capable of doing any of this at scale. UE5 is an overhyped mess of an engine which has yet to produce a stable, good looking game. Games that use it also end up having a fake plastic look to them 90 percent of the time. It's a blight on the gaming industry.
@@NotGemini i believe so. Clarisse for example is old ass shit engine and works purly with instances where you can have milions of objects in scene.. This stuff just isnt new. And dont forget what do you protect. Developer who promises shit ton of things... Didnt fullfill it and took money changed terms so they will not give back money... Also this game worked on old ass cry engine for decade still cpu bonded. Badly optimized shit.
They could, but there's no reason why they should. What does 100% scale planets do for gameplay aside from making the flight out of atmosphere take four hours? What does it accomplish that the current scale does not?
Wow, pushing logs in the water and water has waves when walking in it, grass, ferns and water lilies bend... My Skyrim can do that since forever. That's not impressive at all, it's baseline for modern good looking games since years now. And Skyrim is not that beautiful for modern standards even with the top ENB preset, 8K parallax textures + complex LOD generation.
@@natewagstaff2516 I'm pointing out the crowd going "WOOH!!!" for moving a log on the water. That's not revolutionary at all, it's an overreaction. Even a very old Havoc physics engine can do that the same. And no matter if Star Citizen has 1/6 scale planets or not (that doesn't matter for that particular effect or feature). Even Star Citizen uses little tricks to reduce the load thankfully since it's not running well everywhere, and forests will definitely make it run just as bad as in cities. Just watch it. That will be very complicated without a technology similar to Nanite. Parallax decals are one thing, filling a scene with many props on top of realistic lighting with path or ray tracing, shadows and AO, effects, volumetric particles, 16K texture everything (ships have 4K textures, some other areas of SC anything between 4K, 8K or 16K alternatively). And the game is already running pretty bad without a Lumen or Ray tracing tech. Not everything SC does is more advanced than others.
@@GUNNER67akaKelt That's not a matter of scale everywhere. A UE5 engine could run their swamp environment way better with the same texture sizes (or everything at a default 8K parallax with Nanite because SC uses a mix of 4K, 8K and 16K here and there) and basically the entire planet. Imo 16K textures are overkill even for 4K display res and the engine is dying even for the SQ42 demo that's uploaded and ironed out compared to the CitizenCon live version. That's a big problem. People want to think that Star Engine is the best of the best but they barely implement features we have seen years ago actually. Besides it's not about having the best engine: I don't care if a game is UE5 and wel used, I also want a good game. There was Crysis which was awesome back in the days, then there was Crysis 2, and finally Crysis 3. And hum... Well, the latter two were very beautiful too, don't get me wrong, but were crappy games too.
@@RonJeremy514 My point being, Unreal Engine 5 is for 'small' maps (several kilometers). Nobody is saying UE5 isn't beautiful and can do all these things already, but show me it making a planet the size of mars or even the moon... AND then be able to fly seamlessly from that planet to 9 others of similar sizes and over a dozen moons, also huge, with that same fidelity. It simply can't. At this point in time, anyway. Now optimize it so that not only 10% of the world will be able to play it
10% is almost 900 million people 🤦
Dude, I'm playing it on a 7 year old computer... or is it 8 yo now?
stoppppppppppppp can i be a storm chaser and collect storm data on planets my dream
Exactlyyyy. Space storm chasing!
They showed there will be wind physics too, so what if they amped it up and included freakin' tornadoes?
@@jacksonbarkerthebluehairedfox ahhhhh and this may be a stretch but 1 there could be a couple ships with a high enough durability for it and 2 im hoping there loke permanent systems that have to be mapped out and without it you could be fucked lol
@@thatssocloudyazia4871 My strecth........ I want volcanoes. Be sick to find a planet covered in these.
with the dynamic weather systems could come freaking hurricanes and tropical storms. Imagine traveling to a planet and seeing a rotating hurricane on the surface. You get closer to have a look and before you know it, you're in the middle of a massive storm, all in one seamless go.
When will the first planet use this? Did they say?
prolly sooner than anything its the visual guys their timeline is always on time
It seems like they want to use this on older planets as well.
Sure hope they make trees destructible or something. Driving in a ground vehicle is already pain. With added density I feel it will be unbearable.
if you can do it, do it and not in one of your conferences to sell ships
on espère que ça sera pas un no man sky bis
The terrain still flat, that's only tree desing.
Very cool. But space is still green, right?
Video démo ... wait to see in real before to said something
It’s too bad they keep adding mechanics to the game, at some point it’s just going to be so overly complex most casual players will never play the game.
its a space sim it says on its genre
Lmao all those wildlife sounds in the jungle and a single bird flys by
@@GutsGaming having been alot in irl jungles i say this is legit you hear alot of shit u never see 🤣🤣 but they watch your every step!
Just let the single player game fade away and put all manpower on SC its what everyone wants!
I don't and it's not what I backed. Hell SC the MMO wasn't what was originally pitched on the kick starter, SQ42 was. SC is a spin off of SQ42. I have no desire to play a MMO with Perma Death and most don't either. I want to play a new Wing Commander game not some damn MMO thats going to have Perma Death and issues with Network Bandwidth. Why? Like how does this create fun gameplay?
Storms push you to use ground vehicles. Good vistas need for cool players ground bases like in other sandboxes. Whats wrong?
Bruh you clearly need a rain check on the reality of games. This game if they can deliver will be one of the best MMOs. The tiny details matter, and it is nothing short of amazing if they can achieve it. Red Dead Redemption 2 comes to mind or The Last Of Us. No other game comnes close to what they are trying to achieve at such large scale. Why the negativity though, look on the bright side of life, we get this beautifully crafted world that will be in active development for years to come(hopefully). With hours of entertainment. Your imagination is the limit. Enjoy it while it lasts, we have one life.
Propaganda to bring more money to the sinkhole.
Yeah, its a scam! They are making all this with smoke and mirrors! The real money is in a bahama bank account!
Haters coping hard.
garbage . they once again are wasting time with new stuff to sucker people in vs finishing the huge back log of ships and other stuff like better servers and so and now push 42 out two more years give me a break!!
They've literally been doing huge server tests recently and server meshing will be online by the end of the year with 4.0.
We have also known for years that planet tech v5 was in the works, this wasn't something they decided on last week.
If they released Sq42 early and it was a buggy mess you'd be complaining that they should have waited and worked on the game more.
You're that kind of person who just wants to be angry at something.
Star citizen and sqaudron 42
2 games being created at the same time since 2012
Star citizen currently has 4 planets with 4 major cities.
But to still be upset about this game not being out with everything that you just seen is ridiculous, or you really dont understand anything that goes on in the development world.
so stuff that unreal has for years. At least hope it will be less cpu bounded after those how many yers of dev? 15? Also why the vegetaion looks like on earth? Did you just bought those assets and scatter them across? :D what a joke omg
First off this is white box. Second of all they specifically stated this is only possible due to the offloading of this processing to the gpu.
@@thumpertron by using instances and nanite you can achieve large scale scene.
You can create a solar system with unreal engine with no loading screens in a MMO ?
@@NotGemini i believe so. Clarisse for example is old ass shit engine and works purly with instances where you can have milions of objects in scene.. This stuff just isnt new. And dont forget what do you protect. Developer who promises shit ton of things... Didnt fullfill it and took money changed terms so they will not give back money... Also this game worked on old ass cry engine for decade still cpu bonded. Badly optimized shit.
ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM: they're still not talking about full-scale planets... moons 14%, planets 10%, distances 10%...
And Skyrim was built by a large team of artists and is a minuscule size compared to an entire planet. Let alone a whole system.
No, nothing really new here. The diffence is the SCALE. The entirety of Skyrim would fit in a large crater on ONE of SC's planets.
If you can link me a video of it doing so, I'll retract this statement.
Typical. Landscapes with no gameplay, SC rules all.
This was a presentation literally only about planet tech.
@thumpertron dont waste your time explaining...its pointless.

Unreal 5 is great, but you're limited to the things the engine were intended to. For some things you need a custom engine
@@rabbit9577 UE5 its good to use only for tech demos, not Games bro, you can see ,,limits'' by engine in every game on UE
Show me Unreal 5 doing an entire planet. Now show me Unreal 5 doing multiple planets and moons (actual huge ones, not like those small ones in NMS) all without loading screens. Can it do that?
the presentation is 100% made on unreal engine. but fans will eat shit and believe in genesis 😂
Yea it’s worth it having your devs develop things on unreal engine just for a demo you are a genius.
🤡
Genesis isn't an engine, it's a tool set for Star Engine to develop physics based environment plus UE5 can't handle planetary scale XD
@@natewagstaff2516 they used unreal to create and show a beautiful video clip. you have to feed stupid fans with shit and at least promise something. and how could you do it? right. show a beautiful video created with the help of other services and programs. because the engine on which the "game" is created, sorry, not a game, but a Techno-demo, will not allow you to create such beautiful videos🤗
