I think it was really fortunate she got to do those subsequent series and movies on "Downton Abbey" which allowed those kids who knew her from growing up with "Harry Potter" to see more of her dramatic range RIP
Those kids should see and know about her previous work, including her Oscar winning performances in The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie and California Suite.
I meet her once and I will never forget her smile and how kind she is. She hugged me as I cried cuz I was awestruck at meeting this amazing wonderful woman. Thank you dame Maggie Smith for all of your amazing characters
She was more than a legend. As Ron said - "bloody brilliant" Loved her in everything she did. Prayers to her family and thanks for sharing her with all of us.

All the actors who played the defence against the dark art professors, outside of Snape, are all alive (Quirrel, Lockhart, Lupin, Mad-Eye, Umbridge, and even the Carows) so there is at least that :)

RIP Maggie Smith, I hope her family and her friends are doing ok as they have my condolences, I don't know if anyone else can play professor McGonagall better than she did, I am glad she had that role, she has our gratitude for her time on the spotlight, and she will be missed
The 1st film I remember ever seeing her is when I was a kid watching Hook (1991), where she played Wendy, and I remember one of her first lines being directed as Robin Williams saying "It's been 10 years" and realizing that Robin Williams passed away 10 years ago. I can picture Robin greeting her now, saying, "It's been 10 years," as he welcomes her home.
Omg I didn't realise he'd been passed that long and I loved watching hook and where I remember her from my 10 year old is devastated as she is currently obsessed with harry potter she cried when she found out x
I’ve loved Dame Maggie Smith’s work and wonderful talent since I was 11 years old, and watched _Murder by Death_ on TV in 1978. I’ve seen her in many other productions, but not everything she’d been in, not yet! Thank you, my Lady, for your magnificent body of work. RIP 🤍🕊️
She is a one of a kind actress! There is nobody who can rival her! RIP, Dame Maggie Smith! You will always be missed and loved!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She was a true legend and will be greatly missed. Outside of the Harry Potter franchise, my most favorite movie of hers is Keeping Mum. If you haven't seen it you must. It shows her amazing acting ability along with her true wit and character. Miss you Maggie. Wands up /*
Thank you for bringing up "David Copperfield". My Dad was a high school English teacher so we watched a lot of Shakespeare and Dickens films at home. This film was what introduced me to Maggie and Daniel, before Harry Potter. Imelda Staunton and Zoe Wanamaker are also in "David Copperfield". God bless you, Dame Maggie, and we thank you for all you've given us.🕊️🌹😇🙏♥️🪄 *EDIT:* "Let me see you ride another donkey on my green, and I'll knock your bonnet off. My favorite quip she had about a young boy. He stared at her. Thinking how he knew her. He said just a minute. It’s coming to me. lol. Then she said. Harry.
Maggie was more than a legend. She was magic. She was magic in itself in all she has done. She'll be with us forever with her talent, wit and sassy tongue. There'll never be another like her. RIP❤❤💔🪄✨✨
Another really great film she was in is my favorite version of the Secret Garden, early 90s and is currently free to watch here on TH-cam. It was NOT a low budget production IMO. Has a great cast (which include Maggie as Matlock)
There was a beautiful movie called "My House in Umbria" that she did many years ago. As much as I do love her part in Harry Potter, I think more people should appreciate her in that beautiful film. It'll always hold a dear place in my heart
Maggie Smith was a Queen in Harry Potter movie’s she was a legend in all of her films. My favorite part of Maggie Smith was in the movie of downtown abbey. She will truly missed by all of her family and fans of Harry Potter films.

My first movie I watched her in was Hook followed by A Secret Garden. Way before she was Professor McGonnagal. She was Wendy and Mrs. Madlock to me, and always will be. One of the reasons Maggie has been my favorite name for a girl. She’ll be missed!

We will never see the likes of Dame Maggie Smith or Dame Judy Dench again. Dame Maggie has taken her final bow, to a standing ovation for a life well lived and one that has given pleasure to so many. 🇦🇺
One of the most recent Maggie Smith movies I've seen is a comedy called Keeping Mum. She's HYSTERICAL in it! If you've only seen Maggie's serious characters, I recommend checking it out. It also stars Rowan Atkinson and Patrick Swayze.
I first saw her in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie for which she deservedly won the Academy Award. She was brilliant in it and gave what many consider one of the greatest monologs ever put to film. If you saw the film then you probably know the scene I'm talking about where she refuses to leave the school after they tried to dismiss her.
You’re on TH-cam. You can see a really beautiful Maggie smith in My House in Umbria. It was an award winning tv performance and really classic Maggie. I was lucky enough to see her on stage in Canada at the annual Shakespeare festival.
