It seems great. I ordered one based on your review ;) I've several DSOs in my lab, but I like the multimeter function, with large and clear numbers on the display.
I have an Owon DMM BT model...use it also as a data logger for voltage and current draw. This Oscope is very neat and seems to be much better than the original handheld models of this type by other manufacturers. On thing that viewers might keep in mind, not all inexpensive multi-channel scopes will operate in X & Y mode but this one says it does. IF you have appropriate RF samplers (I built a couple and bought a couple; both work fine), the ham operator can examine his/her voice envelope shape to ensure that it's what you think it is. Tired of the limitations of my Snap On. This is impressive and looks quite nice. I have a feeling I’ll be going with this one!

Yes very similar but not quite the same as a close look reveals at least a few differences that would make this a bit of an upgrade to the Hantek. 1) The 10 amp current probe inputs are labeled on the front panel as being fused for this model but on the Hantek are labeled as unfused. 2) This one is advertised as True RMS AC voltage measurement whereas the Hantek does not claim to be True RMS. Also while the front panel buttons & layout are quite similar for both they are not identical.

Noticing some of the slight improved specs mentioned I thought well that looks fine on paper but does it really perform so I searched for reviews & came across yours which sealed the deal for me. I purchased the HDS242S last night. One of the things that impressed me was your showing the stability of the wave displayed on the OWEN as that's one thing that bothered me about many other models in this product category & price range as many of the review demos out there show the wave display as very noisy, jittery & unstable like the comparison model in your demo here. For the signal generator, it only has adjustments for Frequency, Amplitude (Volts). Is there no Amps adjustment? Do signals output current or just voltage variation?
Is it possible to use both the wave generator and the oscilloscope at the same time? Say I wanted to use the wave gen to output a 10kHz sine wave into my circuit and measure the output wave of my circuit on the oscilloscope. Will I be able to do this on this handheld scope?
i think it is the same. the design in DMM mode is just different with the bars in top end bottom by hantek… the owon looks bigger becouse they don’t have thebars and have space for bigger digits.
@@AquinoSamuel i only have the Owon here, but they look technicaly the same, the diference is prob. in the software.. and the Owon claims TRMS, the Hantek not. And the Owon has bigger digits in DMM mode.. but that is personal.

@@GripFreak Hi, i think its was this one: 303450 Lipo Li-polymer Lithium Polymer but is was in that plastic box, but there are also lose pcb versions that need 5 or 12 volts, so it depends on you model too.
You can pick the USB mode in the menu. If you select mass storage device, then you can save images and data on the scope and simply transfer them as files to any computer. The scope shows up as a flash drive basically in this mode. I found that to be very useful.
It's almost like the Owon HDS272S is making their Sine wave thicker to compensate for moving around (which I suspect it might actually be doing), compared to the Hantek 2D72's Sine wave moving around at that same frequency (while staying thin, mind you). I can't see any reason why the Owon would suddenly make their waveform do this when it is thinner for other measurements? The Owon HDS272S certainly seems to be better than the Hantek (I have the 2D42) and a bit more accurate, and I wish the Owon would show the Probe Connections to use like the Hantek does. That's the deal-breaker for me, unfortunately... I can't trust someone to borrow mine and unknowingly putting the Probes into the wrong sockets and - Boom!

I have never tried one.. but having seen that FNRSI i will not buy one again in that price range, i would aim a bit higher and get better one, like the Owon, , but if you are willing to send me one for free, i am happy to test is for you.

Moreover, my hds242 has a voltage drift in the oscilloscope during warm up (measure -> mean option). My firmware version is 4.1.0, hardware - I don't know and I can't open the case because of warranty seal from the local seller. I must callibrate hds242 during cold start, then after about 30 min of work. Do your hds272s is free of this issue?

@@АнтонШаталов-э3г i Think for basic audio the 40MHz should be good , just remember the sapling is 250 MSa/s and 125 when using both channels and 10mV is the lowest v/div.. if you meseure above 10mV-20mV you are good. Depends also on how many samples you want and what voltage... but for basic audio it should be okey
Since you are a clueless electronics collector , let me fill you in the discrepancy on the measuring of 0,001 is due to the leads . Not that it matters , even if it was 1V of the target or 10% it wouldnt change anything for any one of you electronics collectors since you dont need it anyways . Owon sent it to you to sell it ,sellers dont need DMMs so thee goes that

I test the multimeter funtion last night, works really well.

Yes i think you can... but its an older video, and i am not sure anymore.... but exporting JPG/BPM is not a problem

Nope, like most signal generators, it is just that. it is not an AC current source.
