I remembered a vid out there that disproved the diamond in the jewelry industry as a not-so-rare gem and deemed it useless, but didn't go ahead to mention it's COUNTLESS USES IN INDUSTRIAL , TECHNOLOGICAL, AND MEDICAL USAGE. Hell, you don't even need to get a hardware tool or machine to see it at work. Go to your nearest hardware store and buy certain sandpapers. The really smooth kind used for sculptures and glasswares? Made of diamond grit. So yeah. A diamond ring isn't that rare anymore, but it is still pretty in brilliance and the hardest gem out there.
Yes, diamonds are not rare, though beautiful ones of course are in less abundance. If they were truly rare, they would not be plentiful enough to be used commercially in jewelry.
Clean, pure diamonds are not the impossibly rare gems that people think they are, but they are still relatively hard to find. No more so than pure/true emeralds, rubies, sapphires, etc. It’s all Cartelling the supply and powerful ad campaigns. Buy your wife a good Quartz in gold or silver and she’ll have something unique and cheap. Downside to silver being how easily it tarnished but polish is cheap.
Sorry, you mistook hardness for fragility. If a hammer hits a diamond, the diamond usually breaks. Edit: especially single crystal decorative diamonds shown in this video.
To answer the question, I've never cut a marble countertop with a diamond-encrusted blade. But I have cut up concrete blocks with a diamond-encrusted blade. It made me incredibly nervous, because being a left-handed person using right-handed equipment is already difficult; and because a saw that sharp could easily be used as a bone saw, whether intentionally or not.
Thanks for the video! It's good to see the scientific applications of diamonds being advertised somewhere. I did my PhD researching point defects in diamond and even characterised some previously unseen defects containing nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen. Other interesting applications are developing towards quantum computing using diamond and nano scale magnetic resonance techniques using a diamond NV centre.
Semi conductors? Absolutely fascinating! Gonna look into this a little more because it can't be easy to dope diamond's carbon structures with other elements to make transistors. Doping means adding other elements as impurities so that electric current can flow in one direction. With diamonds having such a tightly woven crystal structure, I just wonder how they do it!
The thing I hate about Jtv is that on Thursday I know I’m gonna have to wait 4 days for another awesome video😫 love your videos keep up the awesome videos!
That was funny when you pointed out any Steven Universe videos that are on the side video selection. What do you think about making videos on any of these minerals? Turquoise, Wulfenite, Barite, Celestine, and Prasiolite.
Hey JTV, I work at a Tile & Stone retailer. I'm super interested in learning more about the stones i sell (more then just the generalization of a single slab or something.) Do you know any good way to learn about the specific stones i work with besides JTV? Love the content!
Could you maybe do a video on the diamond trade? Cause I've heard they aren't actually that rare and the supply is just restricted by a company with a monopoly to drive up the price.
TotallyMature Yes, they are controlled by DeBeers. Smart move on their part. If they were truly rare, they would not be plentiful enough to be used commercially in jewelry.
JYV my name is Michael and I found this interesting rock at the beach the other day and I can’t figure out what it is can you please help me figure it out and if anyone can do it it’s you guys and girls, please 😢
Yeah. It's called cubic zirconia or something aka man-made diamond. It's actually more pure than natural diamond. This invention changed the price of diamonds. Pure diamonds used to cost more but now the more impure the better cause it's natural. Quite stupid tbh
@@kingkong8974 Dude... you need to study science a lot more... Cubic zirconia is not made of carbon crystal so it might look similar to diamond but it's brilliance and fire is much less as well as it's hardness doesn't even come close to the diamond and it's not the best for jewelry as it's very cheap and less durable.
I hate that phrase...HATE IT. Dogs are a huMANS best friend. But also I don't care about Diamonds..I mean I do cause I'm watching but because I'm fascinated with the obsession of a stone that has no freaking color. Emeralds Emeralds Emeralds!!!!!!!!!!!

@@1redrider100 - Argentium Silver is tarnish resistant.
Just like lobster was prisoner food
@@1redrider100 But nowadays we can made it pure diamond so easily and cheaper, the jewelry can distinguish it from less pure mine diamond
The bond formation animation was “SAVAGE”😂😂

I can’t wait for this channel to talk about the difference between mono crystalline gems and nano crystalline gems

That zoom up is so pretty. Its goid the gems doesn't go to waste. Though I would like to see what the larger chunks of the gem looks like.
1:47 I love that the clip you chose of Wolverine came from Origins. Wolverine Origins is truly the industrial diamond of the X-Men franchise XD

bort looks as beautiful as any other gem for me
also there's lots of clods in the background
My dad is a contractor and has diamond 💎 in-crested tools to cut like counter tops and tile, I didn’t believe him at first till I seen this vid 😂

We're right there with you, Quinn! Those four days always feel like an eternity. Glad you enjoy all of our videos! Thanks for watching!

The diamond trade is a total scam. Diamonds aren’t rare at all, and they’re incredibly easy to lab-produce as well.
I love Natalie. She's so smart and easy to listen to.
Thank you!!
I looked at the comments and I was like, "What? Only two?" Until I realised, it was uploaded 8 minutes ago XD
Or 13?
Very Informative 💎
Believe it or not a lot of us want to hear the scientific explanation. I don’t cut marble but I do use diamond bits to carve basalt stones.
Very well presented!
A great good to know video
This is a very good channel, the video was very informative :)
Thank you! That's great to hear!
Just did that last night, why shouldn't you cut marble or granite at home? Its not that hard. Unless you dont use ventilation then yes.
So I have a diamond with the tetrahedral shape👀 I also have a hopper diamond
4min33 video explaining noting about if how are they grown or mined and shattered to get small bulk diamonds
You should make a video about Moissanite, which has more fire and brilliance than Diamonds!
Very interesting
What if you did a video on the Fortnite Gravity Crystals? You'd definitely get a heap of people wanting to know about their favourite video game!!
White diamond be like: I'm sUpPoSeD tO bE bEtTeR!!! Well... You're not wrong... you're better than silicone. Hope that makes you feel better...?
0:29 Diamonds will shatter if you hit it like that with a hammer, they're not a good shock absorbers. Hardness and toughness are different.
If you want contact information I will be happy to give out to you I just really want to know what it is

Whar is the real difference between a pure natural diamond and a pure artificial one? @JTV
Beautiful and scarily intelligent, something is diamonds alright

Near future smartphones will have diamonds in them. Synthetic or not, they're diamonds.

Is there a man-made Jem that is similar to a natural diamond but stronger then diamond ? or is that just in theory

Diamonds might be a girls best friend, but Diamonds are Forever and You only Live Twice so be careful GoldenEye
Each time I see you, you are prettier. Anyway, this video is just what I was looking for to yalk precisely about some of the qualities of diamonds.
Ps.I’m not trying to wast anybody time, please and thank
carbon has 4 valence electrons, please don't mis inform your audience
I suppose that ugly gem quality diamonds must be cheaper than the ones that are good quality. I love ugly 💎.
Então vamos brincar de pedras coloridas em Jerusalém!?!?!?! Hhhhhhuuuuuummmmmmm.....
germs
The video of a hammer hitting a diamond should be fake, the diamonds tenacity is not that good, if they really hitted it it should be broken
Flapjack
Healthy junk food sent me
That's awesome! We love JP & Julia!
watching this vid made me more stupid, thx !
