Then, when I read about it, I was sorry that I did! This is one dangerous bridge. My daughter is coming in from Texas this weekend and I told her to avoid taking the route with this bridge.
We came the opposite from Az to La. And all the sudden came to this bridge. For like 10 seconds I'm looking around for a spot to switch drivers, there is nowhere! So I did it and for the life of me I had to look straight ahead. I was to scared to look around, I do belimy heart is still on the top of this bridge. I'm glad im.not the only one
I do not drive this bridge at all. This, after reviewing what a LA bridge engineer had to say about it and the corresponding structural integrity. I take the I-210 and go around which is 10-15 minutes out of the way - at the most.
Its that high because there used to be commercial traffic going under it and they couldn't put a lift bridge on a instate and it only snows there once every 10 years or so and thats maybe 1/4 that melts in hours

lol i love this bridge. Driven on it for years going from TX to FL. One of the highlights of that long trip. Mobile tunnel and bridge being the best.

I’ve driven some wild bridges from Mexico to NYC to Alaska but this one gives me anxiety more than any other.

Looks so similar to the ones they have in Charleston, SC. I think Charleston has 2 of them like that.

Trust me when it snows in Louisiana most people wouldn't know how to even get to the bridge let alone over it.

I drove over this bridge many years ago and had a major anxiety attack! Swore I'd never do it again and haven't.
This bridge should not be a part of an interstate if this bridge was in Texas on I-10 it would have been history by now.
Built before the Interstate System came to be & was Grandfathered in.
