I drove the Causeway twice a day for eight years commuting from Mandeville to New Orleans. I would often see people buying a “Causeway” can of beer (16 oz.) to hold them over until they got home . I preferred an extra large coffee 😀.

I had a total blowout - to the rim on that bridge driving a triumph spitfire sports car- stupid me doing about 80 - lucky I was in the slow lane and only about a mile from the end-
Used one of my nine lives- I was 20 years old. Dude when u are young- I drove a lot then cross country etc. Since sixteen - never drove under the influence.
Another time I was driving on the Hollywood freeway- during the summer - not a lot of traffic- in a Porshe 914 - and my hood malfunctioned and blew up in my face - cracked the entire
windshield- created a weird kind of an air tunnel- lucky the hood did not blow off from its hinges- those cars were a POS- lucky again- exited the freeway- parked the car- walked to KFC.
Had it towed later.- After eating- lol .I was 24 then- another one of my nine lives gone- not going to bore with other close calls while traveling on the water and in the bayous-
Anyways to be young again! WORKING OFFSHORE- CRAZY CAJUN- LOL

For some with a level of driving anxiety it might not be about the water. Feeling ‘trapped’ on a seemingly endless bridge could do it, the vast flatness and expansive space could trigger agoraphobia. Just driving straight for so many miles, seemingly easy, can also trigger panic.

Flat Earther and just asking why are you afraid of taking a photos of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway from the West or East side of the Lake at water level or from a helicopter from the North shore to the South shore? You do have helicopters in Louisiana? If not, just put a bigger blade on a swamp buggy and buckle up. Then, lay a rule and see how much the causeway curves. Are they just slow in Louisiana? Every coonass I've met seemed to be pretty intelligent. Maybe this idea of a curving bridge that loses 350 feet from one end to the other over flat water is from imported Californication imitation coonass?
